Timeless Elegance Masterpiece
Since 1906 Rolls Royce has been officially and formally established, dedicated to the pursuit of excellence. “The quality will remain…long after the price has been forgotten” is a part of the brand’s advertising. There are only a few tangible commodities in life that remain true to form…without gimmicks and deceit. Rolls Royce is one of these.
After the enormous success of the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, The British luxurious automotive manufacturer dreamed of a timeless luxurious masterpiece The “Silver Shadow”.
The Silver Shadow enjoyed the spotlight as having the largest production volume of any Rolls Royce Model; it was produced in various forms from 1965 until 1980. The Silver Shadow was the most significant model since the Silver Ghost. Its development took 11 years of testing and many upgrades and technical refinement.
From its hand sculpted radiator grille to its matched walnut veneers, a Rolls Royce leaves no room for compromise, for it is built to last….built according to the principles set down more than three-quarters of a century ago by Sir Frederick Henry Royce. The Silver Shadow has styling that looks as contemporary today as it did from its inception. It has a timeless appeal, the architecture is elegant and luxurious.
Under the hood, the Silver Shadow was originally equipped with a 6.2 litre V8 from 1965-1969. The 6.75 litre V8 was introduced from 1970-1980. Both engines used a General Motors sourced turbo hydramatic 400 series transmission. No real figures were revealed by the British manufacturer announcing the horsepower and torque on these masterpieces because Rolls Royce never gave horsepower ratings…when asked their reply was “adequate.”
The Silver Shadow is the first in the brand’s history to be built using monocoque construction, fusing the bodyshell and chassis together as a single, stronger entity.
In addition, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features to the Rolls Royce heritage such as disc brakes, and independent four-wheel suspension systems using its most innovative feature at the time the high-pressure hydraulic system licensed from Citroën. This was the most advance Rolls Royce in history at the time.
All power and every luxury there is was fitted into this amazing machine such as power windows, power seats, air conditioning, power fuel filler door, and power antenna all came as standard.
This masterpiece and as every Rolls Royce built is an automobile for a driver with exceptional taste.
Strive for perfection in everything you do. Take the best that exists and make it better. When it does not exist, design it. Accept nothing nearly right or good enough.
