GMC is upgrading the 2018 Acadia offerings in the Middle East with the All-Terrain trim now available on both the SLE and SLT models of the premium crossover. Available with five-, six- and seven-passenger seating configurations, the 2018 Acadia is designed to offer great versatility, more refinement and advanced safety technologies, while featuring an efficient powertrain, a lightweight body structure and enhanced off-road capability.
Aimed at the heart of the midsize SUV segment, the 2018 Acadia hosts up to three rows of seating on most models, while the All-Terrain models feature an advanced All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system with Active Twin Clutch, which optimizes traction for every condition it encounters. All-Terrain models are distinguished from the rest of the Acadia lineup with a body-color grille surround, black chrome trim and exclusive wheels.
The 2018 GMC Acadia is equipped with a powerful and efficient 3.6L V-6 engine, which is SAE-certified at 310 horsepower; and thanks to GM’s Active Fuel Management (AFM) technology, an improved fuel consumption level of 11.2 L/100km on the combined cycle is achieved for the Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) models and 11.7 L/100km for AWD, putting it among the best in its segment for fuel economy. The 2018 Acadia’s V6 engine features direct injection, variable valve timing as well as Active Fuel Management (Cylinder Deactivation), and pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled drive mode selector.
Sajed Sbeih, Head of Brand, GMC, General Motors Middle East, said, “Boasting a bold design, the Acadia captures a great feeling of refinement and versatility in everything from the responsive feeling behind the wheel to the way passengers interact with its intuitive features. With the enhanced All-Terrain trim and expanded seating options, we are confident to say that the Acadia is an ideal crossover for the Middle East region, offering a high level of functionality while delivering big advantages and balance to our customers’ everyday lives.”
The 2018 Acadia builds on a legacy of intuitive functionality, with new features such as the Rear Seat Alert to remind the driver when an item may have been left in the rear seats and a tire fill alert, a system that provides audible alerts when inflating a tire (standard on all modes). Other features include Smart Slide feature that offers a split-folding second-row seat.
Additional solutions range from the simple to the technologically advanced. The rear of the center console, for example, features a unique pull-out storage drawer, which is accessible to rear-seat passengers. There’s also a standard Safety Alert Seat that reminds the driver when an item may have been left in the second- and third-row seats. Additionally, all three rows offer USB charge ports for compatible electronic devices.
The active safety features of the 2018 Acadia are designed to help make drivers more aware of their surroundings and potential crash situations, such as Front Pedestrian Braking, Surround Vision camera system, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Change Alert in addition to Front and Rear Parking Assist.
The 2018 Acadia offers a great emphasis on refinement, while remaining instantly recognizable with an evolution of the vehicle’s signature design cues such as a chrome-trimmed grille, squared off and flared wheel arches and a wraparound rear side windows with dark D-pillars.
Dimensional grilles and wraparound headlamps – High-intensity discharge (HID) lamps on Denali and halogen projectors on other models – reinforce the confident, refined appearance, while standard LED signature lighting on all models reflect GMC’s premium attributes. Complementing C-shape rear lighting graphics add a cohesive detail to the design.
Premium cues distinguish the Acadia Denali. Like all Denali models, it features a dimensional chrome grille, along with integrated chrome side trim, chrome-accented door handles, a chrome lower-rear fascia and specific six-spoke 20-inch wheels.
As a contemporary crossover, the 2018 Acadia offers the latest active safety features to protect the passengers, as well as the latest technologies to keep them connected.
Moreover, when it comes to connectivity, the Acadia is plugged in with available phone integration technology through GMC’s IntelliLink system, making it easy to connect to some of the features that smartphone users rely on most.
All 2018 Acadia models feature a drive mode selector, which allows the driver to alter chassis and powertrain attributes to suit a variety of driving conditions. Meanwhile, the All-Terrain trim has a specific Offroad mode on the drive mode selector, which works with the model’s exclusive AWD system to offer enhanced hill-climb capability.
