‘PURA VISION’ MODEL REVEALED TO AUTOMOBILI PININFARINA CLIENTS

Flanked by classic Pininfarina-designed cars owned by a number of the USA’s leading car collectors and inspired by Pininfarina’s purity of design and engineering elegance, Automobili Pininfarina presented the Battista hypercar and the company’s future vision for luxury electric cars during Monterey Car Week.PURA VISION

CEO Michael Perschke hosted a series of VIP events at the House of Automobili Pininfarina, presenting the Battista – with its enhanced front design – and his strategy for the brand moving forwards. Design Director Luca Borgogno treated guests by revealing the PURA Vision design model and giving an inspirational view of the aesthetics of a future pure-electric Luxury Utility Vehicle from the Italian marque.

Speaking to clients, journalists, specialist retail partners and owners of Pininfarina-designed sports and luxury cars, Luca Borgogno was clear that 89 years of Pininfarina designs and creation of some of the world’s most beautiful cars will inspire everything Automobili Pininfarina offers to clients in the future.

Luca Borgogno said: “It was a dream to present the latest version of Battista and the PURA Vision design model here in Pebble Beach. Battista is the hypercar that proves it is possible to design a beautiful high performance EV and it has won the hearts of our clients in North America.

‘PURA VISION’

“PURA Vision blends design themes which Battista Pininfarina himself made famous in creating some of the most revered and beautiful sports cars in history. Yet it is absolutely an insight into our future; a luxury vehicle like no other and once again designed to deliver thrilling EV performance.”

Michael Perschke said: “Visitors to Monterey Car Week know and love Pininfarina-designed cars and we love to present them with something special during this fantastic series of events. We arrived with an impressive number of reservations for Battista already secured by clients in North America, and that number has nearly doubled in just a few days here.

“We are building our brand and developing an exciting future product portfolio. We are committed to delivering purity, beauty and rarity in Battista and in a future range of pure-electric Italian luxury cars.”

Inaugural ‘Legends Drive’ a success in Monterey

The Battista hypercar joined a parade of iconic Pininfarina-designed cars in a display of automotive beauty unique even to the rarefied atmosphere of Monterey Car Week. Designed and to be hand-built at Pininfarina’s headquarters in Cambiano, Italy, the Battista took its place amongst past classics from the famous carrozzeria during a four-hour drive from Pebble Beach.

Displaying a newly enhanced front end for the first time in North America, recently sculpted following wind tunnel testing and final design refinements, the Battista represented Automobili Pininfarina’s exciting future, while cars led by an incredible Lancia Rally 037 reminded the audience of what Pininfarina S.p.A. has established since 1930: a reputation for designing many of the world’s most desirable and beautiful cars.

Automobili Pininfarina is celebrating a successful summer of car show appearances and concours events. The pure-electric Battista hypercar debuted in the UK at the 77th Goodwood Members’ Meeting and took in its ‘home’ auto show in Turin, before wowing audiences in and around Monterey.

The Automobili Pininfarina team now returns to Italy to continue testing and development of the 1,900 hp Battista under the management of Development Driver Nick Heidfeld and Sportscars Director Rene Wollmann. Meanwhile the Battista show cars head to the UK for the Salon Privé event and to Hong Kong to begin the launch programme for the Asia-Pacific region

PF0 ‘PURE DESIGN’ PHILOSOPHY JUDGED A SUCCESS IN PEBBLE BEACH

Automobili Pininfarina PF0 Design Prototype - Arab Motor World

Automobili Pininfarina has released the first official image of the PF0 electric hypercar concept model following a positive programme of private viewings in Pebble Beach during the Monterey Car Week in California, August 23rd to 26th. The management team at Automobili Pininfarina now returns to their German and Italian headquarters to plan the PF0 concept model’s European and Middle East private preview events.

Automobili Pininfarina CEO, Michael Perschke and Design Director, Luca Borgogno arrived in New York in mid-July to begin a six-week US launch programme to present the PF0 and Automobili Pininfarina’s long-term business plans to luxury car retailers and first customers. The US launch activity culminated last weekend in a successful introduction of the PF0 concept model to invited guests in Pebble Beach – vital for the new car brand as the US will be its strongest market given the demand for electric cars, performance cars and, historically, Pininfarina-styled cars.

Prospective clients of the limited-run hypercar will be the ultimate judges of the PF0 design, and four days of private viewings hosted by Perschke and Borgogno have left the new team encouraged and excited by initial feedback. The overwhelming response highlighted how successfully the PF0 balances overall design purity and elegance with innovative functional treatment of aerodynamic surfaces and structures.

Michael Perschke, Automobili Pininfarina CEO, said: “For a new car company, this US launch programme was hugely challenging, exciting and ultimately rewarding. Our guests in Pebble Beach were classic and performance car aficionados and judged that the PF0 design delivered the right balance of beauty and functional performance visuals. They came to see classic Pininfarina and weren’t disappointed.

“Most importantly, we have some great feedback from clients who have owned numerous Pininfarina-styled supercars. We know we are on the right track and we will now return to Europe to deliver on our aim of producing the world’s most beautiful, innovative and rare hypercar.”

Six months before the final PF0 design and name are revealed at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2019, the Pebble Beach feedback also indicates that demand will outstrip supply for what will be the first production road car designed, produced and branded Pininfarina – a long-held family dream of founder, Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina.

Luca Borgogno, Automobili Pininfarina Design Director, said: “Our ambition for PF0 is based on classic Pininfarina principles – to combine elegance and beauty with functional design that defines a new product vision. From 2020, the world will see the emergence of luxury electric hypercars that set new standards for performance and visual drama. Cars dreamt about, but not yet seen on the road.

“As with Pininfarina cars of the past, PF0 has to stand-out in an emerging sector – beauty and performance to make your heart skip a beat. You can see that impact in the PF0 rear view treatment where the car’s performance potential is functionally defined by dramatic wings, and its beauty highlighted by the overall form – purity and elegance of design has not been lost to the battle for downforce or cooling.”

Automobili Pininfarina and the PF0

Automobili Pininfarina was announced in Rome in April 2018 as the world’s newest car brand with an ambition to sustainably develop and produce fully-electric, ultra-luxury cars at the pinnacle of design and desirability in their respective segments.

The Munich-based company will offer a range of cars designed and hand-crafted by legendary Italian automotive styling house Pininfarina SpA. Fundamental to PF0, as with all Pininfarina-designed cars, is an absolute desire to deliver innovation in engineering, technology and performance wrapped in a beautiful skin. As a result, extreme levels of technology and functional design lie beneath the PF0 concept model’s carbon-fibre exterior, supporting the delivery of staggering performance for a road car, accelerating to 62 mph in less than two seconds, breaking the 250 mph top speed barrier, and providing a potential zero emissions range of over 300 miles.

Previously released sketch images of the PF0 have presented a full carbon body that is curvaceous and sculptural, encased in sweeping glass. A single dynamic strip of light cascades from the front of the car and takes the place of traditional headlights. Inside the car, the cockpit is focused around a ‘vanishing point’ concept for the main dashboard display that will look unique and exciting, focusing the driver’s attention on the job in hand – a new definition of a driver-centric layout.

Two emotive short films produced by Automobili Pininfarina during Monterey Car Week shed light on the inspiration and motivation behind the company’s plans for a range of beautiful, luxurious and exclusive Pininfarina-branded electric cars:

MIDDLE EAST AND THE UAE IN PARTICULAR, LIKELY TO BE ONE OF AUTOMOBILI PININFARINA’S LARGEST MARKETS FOR SALES

The launch of a new luxury electric hypercar by Automobili Pininfarina gathered pace in New York today, with the reveal of three exciting new images presenting design intent for the new PF0 hypercar.

The company believes that The Middle East and the UAE in particular is likely to be one of Automobili Pininfarina’s largest market for sales given the growing interest in both electric-power and passion for extreme and rare performance cars. With this in mind the new company plans to tour the region with the PF0 concept car in the second half of 2018 and present their plans to deliver world-class client care via the region’s best retailers as part of its specialist vehicle ownership strategy.

“Clients of PF0 and the future portfolio of Automobili Pininfarina luxury cars will find ownership as enjoyable, effortless and exciting as it is driving them. We fully intend to partner with the world’s best luxury car retailers in order to help deliver on that promise: a true team effort and one-to-one experience that online sales can never deliver”, said Automobili Pininfarina CEO Michael Perschke.

Luca Borgogno, Automobili Design Director said: “Pininfarina has an unprecedented heritage of delivering cars that are both beautiful to look at and technically innovative. Creating this combination in the first Pininfarina road car is a dream come true.

“The design of PF0 will espouse purity, beauty and innovation. My team has created three new images that give prospective owners an exciting preview of the design features we will introduce on this incredible hypercar.”

Extreme levels of technology and functional design lie beneath the stunning styling of the exterior, with PF0 delivering staggering performance for a road car: a stated ambition to accelerate to 62 mph in less than two seconds, break the 250 mph top speed barrier, and provide a potential zero emissions range of over 300 miles.

As a special guest of Mahindra Racing at this weekend’s Formula E street race, Automobili Pininfarina CEO Michael Perschke also announced plans to bring on board ex-Formula 1 racing driver Nick Heidfeld. Heidfeld will be an integral member of the team developing the PF0 vehicle dynamics programme from the beginning of 2019, prior to the all-electric hypercar’s on-sale date of late-2020.

Michael Perschke said: “PF0 is borne from the 50 year old dream of Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, to see a stand-alone Pininfarina-branded range of cars that are both beautiful and technologically advanced. PF0 will deliver enormous power and driver thrills in abundance.

“We have a specific strategy in place to develop road car technology inspired by motorsport. Nick Heidfeld has more experience racing in Formula E than any other driver and we are delighted that from next year he will help deliver race-bred, electrifying performance in PF0.”

Racing driver Nick Heidfeld said: “The opportunity to join the Automobili Pininfarina family and develop cars that will deliver performance unlike anything before them is fantastic. I will continue to race next year and I am looking forward to sharing my motorsport knowledge with the new engineering and design team at Automobili Pininfarina, which will support their ambition to create beautiful sports and luxury cars offering electrifying performance on road and circuit.”

Automobili Pininfarina was officially launched to the world’s media in Rome, Italy in April this year, where it announced its plan to sustainably develop and produce fully-electric ultra-luxury cars in low volumes at the pinnacle of design and desirability in their respective segments.
