Insane Video for the 800 horsepower Fenyr on the track

It is no secret that W Motors makes the most beautiful and powerful cars, and what really sets it apart is its Emirati identity. Last spring, we got the opportunity to fully drive one of W Motors Cars “The Fenyr”. However, the test drive was a little bit limiting the full capacity of that wolf as it was performed on the streets of Dubai where speed limits are highly respected. We didn’t fully understand the power behind this machine until…

We were invited by W Motors during the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK to experience the VIP passenger ride and feel the true power of its Fenyr Super Sport on the Goodwood Hill Climb. The driver was a professional with several 24H Le Mans endurance titles. So how can we say no to such experience that will put us behind the wheels and feel firsthand the enormous power of this car?

We arrived at the super sports cars yard, overwhelmed by all the super and hyper cars there, one car stood out with its silky white color that was our ride. Wore the helmet and the right outfit and hopped in inside the Fenyr, as the engines roared and the checkered flag dropped announcing the start of the race; The Fenyr was first on the track which gave us an exhilarating experience as we rushed into the 0-100 KM/h under 2.8 sec you feel your soul leaving your body, to catch it up again as we reach the 200 KM/h in a blink of an eye. This wolf is capable of reaching a top speed of 400 km/h which honestly I don’t remember if we reached it or not as this experience was surreal.

The Fenyr proved once more that with its twin-turbo 6-cylinder flat mid-engine upgraded by RUF, the experts in Porsche engine tuning, can compete and sometimes exceed the 12-cylinder Super Cars. The Fenyr engine is a 3.8-liter capable of producing 800 horsepower and 980 Nm or torque and if you don’t know what these figures mean all you have to do is watch the video.

LAND ROVER AND TERRY GRANT SMASH WORLD RECORD AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED

Land Rover and Terry Grant smashed a world record at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, with a two-wheel speed run in the new Range Rover Sport SVR. Terry’s 2:24.5 run up the famous hillclimb broke Terry’s old record for a mile travelled in a car on two wheels, set in 2011, by more than 30 seconds.

Terry Grant flipped the Range Rover Sport SVR up on to two wheels with the use of a ramp, before hitting speeds of up 60mph on Goodwood’s famous hillclimb as he set the new Guinness World Record time.

Terry snatched the record in a dramatic last gasp attempt on Sunday afternoon, having attempted four runs earlier in the weekend, none of which Terry managed to complete.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is a 575hp performance SUV, capable of 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 174mph – with four wheels on the road, at least. The Range Rover Sport only required one modification for the world record run, a tweak to its differential to allow the car to deliver more power to the two wheels on the ground – both of which will be pumped up to 90PSI.

Terry Grant is a multiple world-record holder, with 25 Guinness World Records already to his name, and with this latest record, Terry has bested a 2:55 run that he himself set at Goodwood in 2011.

Stunt Driver, Terry Grant, said: “It really shouldn’t be underestimated how difficult a two-wheeled speed run like this is; you are always fighting to keep the car balanced right on the edge, as it tries to tip either one way or the other. You need to be conscious of everything, from the camber of the road to the strength of the wind. Thankfully, conditions were excellent and the Range Rover Sport SVR was the perfect precision tool for the job.”

The world record was not the only amazing Land Rover moment of the Festival of Speed, as 70 historic and important Land Rovers took to the hill in what was the largest batch of cars to ever tackle the famous route in one go. From 1948, to 2018, the parade of cars celebrated 70 years of one of Britain’s most iconic automotive brands.

Montblanc – Official Timing Partner of the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Goodwood, one of the grandest motor racing occasions

From July 12th to 15th, the impressive sporting estate of Goodwood will be transformed into the Festival of Speed, one of the greatest festivals of car culture in the world today and an important fixture on the British social calendar. Motor racing enthusiasts will be entertained by some of the world’s most accomplished racing drivers behind the wheels of some of today’s rarest and most spectacular machinery.

Founded 25 years ago in June 1993, The Goodwood Festival of Speed celebrates its Silver Jubilee this year with a presentation of its founder’s — the Duke of Richmond (formerly Lord March) — 25 most memorable moments through an exhibition of cars and the drivers who created them.

As Official Timing Partner for the second year running, Montblanc will lend its timekeeping expertise to the numerous races that take place over the four-day event. As is customary each year, the festival will culminate in a spectacular 1.16-mile timed Hillclimb Shootout, which will determine the champion of the 2018 Festival of Speed and the winner of a Montblanc timepiece — The Montblanc TimeWalker Manufacture Chronograph “Cappuccino” edition.

During the event, Montblanc will host a special Pavilion where guests can come and relax and discover the Montblanc collections. The Duke of Richmond will also be joining Montblanc and its guests for a special preview of the collection and a sneak peek at the winner’s timepiece.

Montblanc & Goodwood

“There are only a  few motor racing celebrations as thrilling and exciting as Goodwood Festival of Speed. With the participation of magnificent cars that range from the vintage to the most avant-garde, this event is the perfect partnership for Montblanc, a Maison that celebrates its spirit of innovation and its long watchmaking heritage,” shares Montblanc CEO Nicolas Baretzki.

Davide Cerrato, Montblanc’s Managing Director Watch Division adds: “Montblanc timepieces celebrate the unrelenting passion for speed that has been at the heart of motor racing for the past century. For the past 25 years, the spirit of racing has found its home at Goodwood, an event that brings together those who share this passion for speed from all corners of the world. I can’t think of a better venue.”

Paying tribute to the Minerva legacy, Montblanc continues 160 years of fine watchmaking heritage with its collections.  The Minerva Manufacture was known as an exclusive workshop producing high-quality instruments for measuring brief intervals of time with remarkable precision — for example, the 1/100th of second counter that was presented in 1916. A perfect example of this heritage is the “Rally Timer”, a stopwatch that was created to time motor racing with utmost precision and which has been the source of inspiration for the TimeWalker collection.

During the Goodwood event, and in a few selected boutiques, Montblanc will present two new limited edition models that have been inspired by the colour of the tropical dial effect – a Manufacture Chronograph and an Automatic Date. The dials are beige with brown counters and brown flanges and have been fondly nicknamed the “Cappuccinos” thanks to their warm and harmonious colour scheme.

W Motors Fenyr SuperSport hits the road for the first time at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2018!

Dubai-based W Motors made history this weekend as the first Middle Eastern hypercar developer ever to participate at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS) with the Fenyr SuperSport, one of the world’s greatest celebrations of car culture.

Following its global unveiling at the Geneva International Motor Show earlier this year, W Motors’ newest car, the Fenyr SuperSport hit the road for the first time, participating in the legendary Goodwood Hill Climb. In front of an audience of more than 200,000 visitors over the festival’s four days, the Fenyr SuperSport made two hill-climb runs each day.

Amongst those to take the wheel and attack the iconic 1.16-mile track at ferocious speed were Mr JWW, W Motors’ friend of the brand, supercar vlogger and the only UK Michelin brand ambassador, Oliver Webb, renowned British professional race driver and Michelin official driver, and Faisal Binladen, Saudi Falcons’ race driver, amongst others.

Making its first appearance on British soil during the FOS, from 12th–15th July, the Fenyr SuperSport is the latest addition to the W Motors line-up of Hypercars. Limited to 100 units globally, with a maximum of only 25 produced per year, and built with a focus purely on performance, power and speed, the carbon fibre masterpiece perfectly balances advanced aerodynamic engineering with the aggressive aesthetics conceived by Dubai-based W Motors.

Talking about the Fenyr SuperSport, Ralph R. Debbas, Founder & CEO of W Motors stated: “We are thrilled to finally experience the Fenyr SuperSport taking on this legendary hill climb in front of hundreds of thousands of visitors and millions of viewers all over the world! Our team, fans and motorsport enthusiasts can finally relish this most awaited moment”.

During the FOS, W Motors also released the “Fenyr SuperSport Launch Editions” – limited to only 10 units and inspired by the spirit of the Wolf. Passionately created to showcase the Fenyr SuperSport in all its glory, each of the 10 breathtaking cars will have its own unique colour combinations, thus highlighting the endless possibilities of creating one’s dream hypercar.

Following its FOS debut, the Fenyr SuperSport will head across the Atlantic for a US tour, including the famous Monterey Car Week in Pebble Beach, California.

Also during Goodwood Festival of Speed, visitors flocked to the W Motors stand to admire the famous Lykan HyperSport – the hero car of The Fast & The Furious 7, one of Universal’s biggest blockbusters.

The Fenyr SuperSport: Heart of a Wolf

Named after the most ferocious wolf in Norse mythology, the Fenyr SuperSport is not only distinguished by the unique W Motors DNA but also is a technical wonder developed in close collaboration with international leading technical partners, including Magna Steyr Italy – where a dedicated facility is assigned for the engineering, production and manufacturing of W Motors hypercars – and the German engine-manufacturer RUF Automobile, which supplies the engine for the ferocious beast.

Among the plethora of distinctive features, we can name the reverse-opening door system; the innovative active aerodynamics system; the full exterior body in carbon-fibre with extensive use of graphene composite, which transforms the Supercar into a lightweight and high-resistance machine. The custom-made RUF engine has been exclusively developed for the hypercar – a twin-turbo flat 6, mid-rear 3.8L engine capable of delivering 800HP, making it possible to reach 0-100 KM/H in just 2.8 seconds and a maximum top speed of 400 KM/H.

VOLKSWAGEN I.D. R PIKES PEAK THRILLS FANS WITH RECORD RUN AT GOODWOOD

The I.D. R Pikes Peak has wrapped up its next record. Romain Dumas (F) set a new record for electric cars of 43.86 seconds in Volkswagen’s first fully-electric racing car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Following his record-breaking exploits at the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb just three weeks ago, Dumas beat the previous fastest time for electric cars on the Goodwood Hillclimb, which has stood since 2013, by 3.48 seconds. The all-time record still belongs to Nick Heidfeld (D). The former Formula 1 driver completed the 1.86-kilometre route in 41.6 seconds at the wheel of a McLaren-Mercedes MP4/13 Formula 1 car in 1999.

“The I.D. R Pikes Peak has once again proven emphatically that it is a fantastic ambassador for our fully-electric I.D. family,” said Dr. Herbert Diess, the Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG and Chairman of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. “I would like to thank the whole team. After the great success on Pikes Peak, at Goodwood we have shown once again how impressive the performance of an electric racing car can be. That is a very good preparation for our great electric car offensive which is starting next year.”

Volkswagen driver Romain Dumas was delighted: “Goodwood is an absolutely fantastic event and I am more than happy that we won in front of such a great crowd of motorsport enthusiasts,” said the 40-year-old after his latest record-breaking drive. “The hill climb track is short but often dirty and therefore you should definitely not underestimate it. In any case it is a great honour to drive here at Goodwood. You meet so many fantastic drivers, and the cars and motorcycles here span a century of motorsport. It is one of a kind.” Volkswagen Motorsport Director Sven Smeets was also a happy man: “Although the route is not even two kilometres long, we once again showed what the I.D. R Pikes Peak is capable of. Volkswagen is committed to electromobility and we want to take every opportunity to show how emotional this topic can be, before Volkswagen launches its first fully-electric range as of 2020.”

More than 200,000 people visited the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 12 to 15 July, as the event in the south of England celebrated its 25th anniversary. The homage to motorsport on the Duke of Richmond’s estate is the largest event of its type in the world. This year’s starter list once was once again a who’s who of motorsport. Dumas in the 500-kW (680-PS) I.D. R Pikes Peak was joined at Goodwood by Hans-Joachim “Strietzel” Stuck (D) and Jochi Kleint (D) in the 480-kW (652-PS) 1987 Volkswagen Golf MkII Bi-Motor Pikes Peak. Other big names in action included Giacomo Agostini (I), Derek Bell (GB), Emerson Fittipaldi (BR), Mika Häkkinen (FIN), Tom Kristensen (DK), Nick Mason (GB), Sébastien Ogier (F), Richard Petty (USA), Walter Röhrl (D) and Sir Jackie Stewart (GB).

Aston Martin at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Aston Martin will be taking the Goodwood Festival of Speed by storm in 2018, with nine cars confirmed to take on the world-renowned hillclimb. Between 12th and 15th July, there will be no fewer than three public debuts, as well as the new Vantage and the entire DB11 family, at the famous home of the Duke of Richmond.

Aston Martin’s new flagship Super GT, the DBS Superleggera, will be making its first public appearance at the festival. Not only will it be on static display in the Supercar paddock where visitors will be able to get a closer look at its muscular carbon fibre bodywork, but it will also be driving up the 1.16-mile hillclimb. As the 211mph DBS accelerates away from the start line, spectators will be treated to the sound of its 725PS, 900NM, twin-turbo V12 as it thunders between the lime trees.

Making its dynamic debut from the First Glance paddock will be the Rapide AMR. The 205mph four-door is the latest car in the exciting new AMR stable that draws direct engineering and aesthetic links to Aston Martin’s successful race team – Aston Martin Racing. In a first for a Rapide it has both 21-inch wheels and carbon ceramic brakes, which will help it to slow in time for the fearsome Molecomb corner.

Also making its dynamic debut will be the stunning V12 Vantage V600. This car made its static debut last month at Le Mans but now the public will be able to to see and hear this incredible limited-edition car in motion. Only 14 examples (seven coupes and seven roadsters) of the V600 will be made, so Goodwood provides a rare opportunity to see this special customer commission created by Q by Aston Martin. With a naturally aspirated V12 it should sound wonderful as it negotiates the famous flint wall.

All three members of the DB11 family will be in attendance at the Festival of Speed. The V8 and the Volante will be joined by the latest, range-topping DB11 AMR in the Supercar Paddock. Sitting alongside them will be the striking new Vantage with its 510PS, twin-turbo V8. All of the current production car range will also be in action from Thursday to Sunday, tackling the Birdless Grove as they climb through the final turns of the hillclimb.

In addition to Aston Martin’s renowned sportscar range, Aston Martin Racing will also be bringing its latest Vantage GTE to the Goodwood hill, fresh from the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans. Based in the Motorsport Paddock, the #95 will be piloted by the 2016 GTE Pro champion Nicki Thiim throughout the weekend. The Dane will be sure to wow the crowds in the lime-liveried World Endurance Championship ‘Super Season’ racer from Friday onwards.

Finally, the wildest model the company has ever produced, the Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro, will be taking part in the timed runs up the hill, driven by Aston Martin Racing veteran Darren Turner. Its 820BHP V12, huge levels of downforce and, perhaps most importantly, its shorter gearing should all give this uprated version of the Vulcan the best possible chance of setting an impressive time on the short, technical course. As it sprints under the famous chequered finishing arch and breaks the timing beam at the top of the hill there will no doubt be more than a few people intrigued to see what the stopwatch says.

While Aston Martin is more than well represented on track, visitors will also be able to get closer to the brand’s latest models at a dedicated stand with six models on hand – DBS Superleggera, Vantage, the DB11 family and Rapide S. The stand is located close to the Cricket Pitch, which serves as the Festival of Speed Silver Jubilee Display throughout the weekend.

The action kicks off at Goodwood Festival of Speed on Thursday 12 July.
