Introducing the All-New Dodge Durango SRT

For the first time ever, SRT power is now available in the Dodge Durango. The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is powered by the potent 392-cubic-inch HEMI® V8 engine with Fuel Saver Technology that delivers 475 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 470 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,300 rpm – providing America’s best horsepower and torque ratings that make it the world’s fastest, most powerful and most capable three-row SUV in its class.

To keep the powertrain running cool and efficient in higher demand environments, a new cold-air duct provides cooler outside air into the engine. Assuring maximum performance under extreme conditions, the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT has been validated through rigorous 24-hour track durability testing – a testing standard that every SRT vehicle adheres to.


The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT provides enhanced shift quality and performance drivability, as well as optimized fuel economy through its TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. This proven transmission was specifically calibrated for the Dodge Durango SRT to optimize shift points and deliver maximum torque to all four wheels. For the ultimate driver-controlled experience, the transmission can be manually shifted using the performance-inspired steering wheel paddle controls on the exclusive SRT-lit flat-bottom steering wheel.

When placed in Sport Mode, the transmission reduces shift times by up to 50 per cent versus Auto Mode and delivers 65 per cent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels.

Acceleration and performance handling are further enhanced when the vehicle is in Track Mode. When in Track Mode, maximum performance track driving is achieved with 160-millisecond shifts and up to 70 per cent of the engine’s torque delivered to the rear wheels for the most pronounced rear-wheel-drive experience. Durango SRT drivers will also notice a vehicle that is more responsive from mid-corner to exit.

The new driver-oriented electronic T-shifter provides the driver with intuitive gear selection and offers an Auto Stick selector gate for added control. Drive and Sport shifting can be selected with no effect on the chosen suspension, stability control and driveline torque split settings.

The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT features launch control, which mimics a professional driver’s inputs to optimize performance by bringing engine, transmission, driveline, stability control and suspension together for an optimal launch and consistent straight-line acceleration.

The new exhaust system has been tuned to offer an unmistakably deep, high-performance note that is distinctive to Dodge/SRT and provides a lasting impression. To achieve this iconic exhaust tone, engineers have replaced the rear mufflers with resonators to increase overall sound level and improve tone of the true performance 2.75-inch (69.85 mm) dual exhaust system.

Ride and Handling

The Dodge Durango SRT rides on a short- and long-arm (SLA) independent front suspension with coil springs, specially tuned Bilstein adaptive damping suspension (ADS), upper- and lower-control arms (“A” arms) and a stabilizer bar. Additional changes include 3 per cent stiffer front springs, 16 per cent stiffer rear springs and an 18 per cent stiffer rear sway bar to provide Durango SRT drivers with outstanding high-speed cornering capability.

In the rear, a specially tuned multi-link suspension design has coil spring, Bilstein ADS, aluminium lower control arm, independent upper links (tension and camber), plus a separate toe link, and a stabilizer bar.

The 120-inch (3,048 mm) wheelbase allows for outstanding stability and consistency in high-speed cornering, while a new performance-tuned AWD system helps the Durango SRT set the world-class performance marks.

The Durango SRT also features the SRT seven-mode drive system, which provides the driver the ability to precisely adjust drive settings to maximize performance or comfort. Suspension, torque distribution, shift points, stability control and engine mapping are all controlled through this system.

The seven SRT drive modes include:

  • Auto: activates automatically when starting the vehicle. Sets the suspension and steering to comfort setting and longer shift times for longer, relaxed driving conditions
  • Sport:  delivers increased vehicle performance capability over Auto Mode. Tightens up suspension damping and increased steering gradient feel for improved cornering response. In addition, shift speed increases 23 per cent in 1-4 gears and electronic stability control (ESC) allows more yaw for spirited driving
  • Track: delivers maximum vehicle performance capability on smooth, dry surfaces. Tightens up to full hard suspension damping and steering gradient feel for maximum cornering response. In addition, shift speed increases 50 per cent in 1-4 gears from Auto mode and ESC allows maximum yaw
  • Snow: sets ideal configuration for driving in snow by setting transmission to use second gear (rather than first gear) during launches to minimize wheel slippage; stability control is set to Full-on and AWD is set to 50/50 distribution
  • Tow: sets ideal configuration to tow a trailer by using full stability control; AWD is set to 50/50 distribution and trailer sway control is enabled in the ESC system. In addition, the Active Noise Cancelation system is automatically engaged to reduce engine noise from the high-load towing condition
  • Valet: engine is remapped to mimic the Dodge Charger V6 engine’s torque and horsepower settings; transmission locks out access to first gear and upshifts earlier than normal; traction, steering and suspension are set to their Auto settings; steering wheel paddle shifters are disabled; ESC is enabled to Full-on and launch control is disabled
  • ECO: maximizes fuel economy with a revised shift schedule, second-gear starts and extended range of the Fuel Saver Technology

Standard five-spoke 20-inch “Goliath” wheels with a new “Black Noise” finish ride on Pirelli 295/45ZR20 Scorpion Verde all-season tyres or available Pirelli P Zero three-season tyres. Available, 20-inch forged aluminium wheels feature a new split five-spoke design also featuring the “Black Noise” finish.

Benchmark Braking

The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT delivers excellent braking performance, requiring an estimated 115 feet (35.05 m) to come to a full stop from 60 mph (97 km/h). Credit belongs to massive new Brembo high-performance six-piston (front) and four-piston (rear) calipers, and vented rotors at all four corners measuring 15 inches / 381mm (front-slotted) and 13.8 inches / 350.5mm (rear).

Aggressive, Functional and Luxurious Inside and Out


Along with its new ultimate performance capabilities, the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT provides the same combination of uncompromised utility, advanced technology and aggressive styling it is well known for.

Inside the refreshed cabin of the Durango SRT, new appointments include a hand-wrapped dashboard with live silver accent stitch, SRT flat-bottom performance steering wheel with standard paddle shift, heated and ventilated front seats with embossed SRT logos. Nappa leather with suede inserts and silver-stitched SRT logos are standard. Demonic Red Laguna leather interior with embossed SRT logos is optional.

Other luxurious touches brought to Durango for the first time in the SRT model include new Light Black Chrome centre stack, HVAC, full console and door handle bezels along with two choices of decorative bezels. Standard finish is Matte Reverse Chain, and for the first time on Durango a true carbon-fibre instrument panel and door bezels will be offered (late availability). Premium velour bound floor mats with embroidered SRT logo are standard. Adding to the impact of the hand-wrapped instrument panel, the headliner and A-pillars are available in Dynamica suede.

A newly designed 7-inch (177.8 mm), thin-film transistor (TFT) customizable digital instrument gauge cluster with 180-mph (290 km/h) speedometer allows drivers to select from a multitude of layouts and information. The class-exclusive Uconnect 8.4-inch (213.36 mm) touchscreen media centre houses the new SRT Performance Pages along with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD radio among other conveniences. The standard BeatsAudio premium sound system features nine speakers, subwoofer and 506-watt amplifier.

On the exterior, the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT carries a SRT hood with functional centre air-inlet ducts flanked by heat extractors that help to keep the engine bay cool by removing hot air from the engine compartment. A new front fascia and lower valence house the new cold-air duct and LED fog lamps. This new unique look will also include the SRT-inspired grille mesh pattern finish.

New integrated wheel flares and body-colour side rocker panels help provide an aggressive stance. The “392” badges flanking each fender with Bright Chrome and Metallic Grey accents differentiate the ultimate performance Durango.

At the rear, a new SRT rear body-colour lower fascia with Gloss Black accent surrounds the 4-inch dual round exhaust tips finished in Nickel Chrome and is also distinguished by new badging on the rear liftgate that denotes the new performance AWD system.

Safety and Security

The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT offers consumers more than 60 available safety and security features, with seven standard airbags, including full-length three-row side-curtain airbags, standard front-seat mounted side-thorax air bags, front-row active head restraints, standard trailer-sway control and available forward collision warning with crash mitigation, adaptive cruise control with stop, Blind-spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Path (RCP) detection.

BRABUS 800 based on the Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+


World Premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2018

High-performance in its purest form wrapped in the discreet attire of the Mercedes E-Class: The new BRABUS 800 supercar based on the latest Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+ once more masterfully implements this principle. With a peak output of 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft), this high-performance sedan delivers superlative driving performance: The four-door takes just 3.0 seconds for the zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) exercise. The top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h (186 mph).

Of course, BRABUS also refines the looks with a sportily and elegantly styled naked-carbon aerodynamic-enhancement kit, and hi-tech forged wheels with a diameter of 21 inches. An exclusive BRABUS fine leather interior creates an exquisite ambience.


BRABUS offers the largest range of safety-certified performance upgrades and increased-displacement engines for Mercedes-Benz vehicles worldwide. The power unit engineers from Bottrop have now developed another tuning level for the Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+. Generating even more power required modifications to the hardware of the engine peripherals. The BRABUS performance kit includes two reconfigured BRABUS high-performance turbochargers, which in addition to a larger compressor unit also have a modified core assembly with reinforced axial bearings. They generate a maximum boost pressure of 1.6 bar.

The development included calibration and endurance tests on state-of-the-art stationary engine test benches as well as extensive testing on the racetrack and in traffic. All these tests were used to recalibrate the mapping for injection, boost pressure control and ignition, which is introduced into the engine control unit by an auxiliary control module, as well as to achieve the flawless durability that has always been the hallmark of every BRABUS engine.

The result of these modifications gives the BRABUS 800 its name: An extra 138.4 kW / 188 hp (186 bhp) means 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) at 6,700 rpm for the turbocharged V8. The tuned engine also has a significantly higher peak torque: an extra 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) translates into impressive 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) at a low 3,600 rpm.


The driving performance is correspondingly outstanding for a sedan: From rest, the BRABUS 800 with 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive takes just 3.0 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph). As a wagon, the supercar from Bottrop takes just a tenth of a second longer. The nine-speed automatic transmission shifts either automatically or manually with the ergonomically shaped BRABUS RACE aluminum paddle shifter on the steering wheel.

The top speed of both body styles is limited electronically to 300 km/h (186 mph). BRABUS 800 versions with an even higher top speed are in development.

Of course, BRABUS will be happy to prepare an acoustic treat for owners of any E 63. The stainless BRABUS stainless sport exhaust with ceramics-coated tailpipes for all E 63 variants has not only a positive effect on the performance by reducing the exhaust backpressure. The integrated exhaust flaps also allow influencing the exhaust note at the touch of a button in the cockpit. The V8 can be driven decidedly discreetly in the quiet “Coming Home” mode or in the open “Sport” position, which coaxes an extra powerful sound from the engine.

As an option, the new BRABUS 800 can also be enhanced with sporty and elegantly styled naked-carbon aerodynamic-enhancement components, which were fine-tuned in the wind tunnel and consequently further optimize the handling stability at high speeds. The precise-fit BRABUS bodywork components come with a choice of high-gloss or matte coating.

BRABUS surrounds for the large air intakes in the left and right side of the front bumper and the BRABUS front spoiler lip, which likewise attaches to the bumper, are available to give the front an even more distinctive design. The BRABUS designers shaped the aerodynamic-enhancement component to reduce front-axle lift at high speeds, which further optimizes the handling stability. For an optimal aerodynamic balance, the trunk lid of the sedan is fitted with a rear spoiler. The carbon diffuser insert for the rear bumper perfectly frames the two dual design tailpipes of the BRABUS sport exhaust.

The BRABUS looks of course also include tailor-made alloys, which have been safety-certified for all E 63 models in various sizes with diameters of up to 21 inches. The range culminates in the BRABUS Monoblock “PLATINUM EDITION” forged wheels, which are available in different designs. At the Geneva Motor Show 2018, the vehicle sports Monoblock Y design wheels. Fitting the model name, this design fascinates with nine pairs of polished double-spokes that extend all the way to the outer flange and form nine “Ys” there. BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA supply the optimal high-performance tires. The front axle is fitted with 9Jx21 wheels and 265/30 ZR 21 tires. The rear axle features 10.5Jx21 wheels with 305/25 ZR 21 tires.


This measure benefits not only the thrilling appearance of the BRABUS 800, this tire/wheel combination also makes the handling even more agile. The BRABUS suspension module for the standard air suspension lowers the ride height of sedan or wagon by about 20 millimeters (.8 in) and can further amplify this effect.

Another special domain of BRABUS is exclusive interior refinement. Under the “BRABUS fine leather” label, the company upholstery shop transforms the finest leather and Alcantara into interior appointments that fulfil even the most individual customer requests. There is virtually no limit to the choice of colors and upholstery designs. In addition, there are noble-wood and genuine-carbon inlays, which can also be tailor-made in a wide range of colors and versions to suit the owner’s personal taste.

An excellent example of the work of the interior designers of the Bottrop-based company is the BRABUS 800 on display at the Geneva Motor Show 2018.

The BRABUS two-tone all-leather interior in black and red captivates not only with its color scheme, but also with the pinpoint quilting of the black seat surfaces. A closer look reveals further loving details: The black center sections of the seats are perforated and have red leather backing. In addition, the interior was refined with tailor-made BRABUS carbon inlays with sealed high-gloss surface. Stainless scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo that changes colors in sync with the ambient lighting of the interior round off the classy interior design.

The BRABUS 800 can be ordered as a complete car, sedan or wagon. Upon customer request, BRABUS converts any current Mercedes E 63 4MATIC+ to this performance level either all at once or in stages.

735 HP and “split camo” – ABT builds unique RS6+ for skiing star Jon Olsson

Alpine ski racer and freeskiing legend Jon Olsson loves high speeds and an extravagant look – and not only on piste, as a whole range of customized supercars built especially for the Swede proves. He has now taken delivery of his latest gem, the RS6+ named “Phoenix”, from
ABT Sportsline, where it was fully customized with the Individual range. The Scandinavian car enthusiast even personally helped with some of the details. “The project with Jon Olsson was a great challenge for our ABT Individual team. It once again proved that we can satisfy even the most discerning customer requirements,” Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of the worldwide largest tuner for Audi and Volkswagen vehicles, explains. With 735 HP (541 kW) and 920 Nm through ABT Power R, the vehicle is the ultimate model in the current performance range.
A little reminder: the production RS 6 Performance has 605 HP (445 kW) and 700 Nm.

Olsson’s new rocket is based on the “normal” RS6+, which ABT Sportsline builds in a limited edition of 50 vehicles based on the RS 6 Performance. Compared to the distinctive one-of-a-kind “Phoenix”, that seems almost like a large-scale production run. Thanks to a very special sports exhaust system, which was produced in manual labor as an export version for the Swedish customer, this Avant produces an unrivalled sound and even more power. One of the most impressive features is the unique look of the car. It takes the skiing star’s typical “snow camouflage” wrapping to new heights. The driver’s side is black, while the passenger sits in the white zone. This wacky design is called “split camo”.

The cool film wrap should not detract from the numerous add-on parts from ABT, though, most of which are made from visible carbon: a front lip, front skirt add-ons, mirror covers, wheel arch vents, side skirt add-ons, rear skirt add-ons and a rear spoiler were fitted. Tinted front, rear and side windows as well as darkened headlight covers complete the “Olsson look” – almost. The first prototype of the ABT aero wheel, which was specially built for the Swedish star based on the matte black ABT FR rim, is another great eyecatcher.

More horses than Spruce Meadows: ABT RS4-R with 530 HP premieres in Geneva

There are more than 400 permanent horses in Spruce Meadows, the largest equestrian facility in the world. The Canadian estate encompasses a massive 360 hectares. With its brand-new ABT RS4-R, the German tuner ABT Sportsline demonstrates how to accommodate considerably more “horses” on less than nine square meters. To be introduced for the first time at the 88th Geneva Motor Show (March 8 to 18, 2018), the powerful Avant delivers 530 HP (390 kW) and 690 Nm. That is 20 HP more than the previously strongest ABT RS4. The difference to the standard vehicle is even greater, which manages to get 450 HP (331 kW) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm out of the 2.9 liter biturbo V6.

As it does with its technical brother RS5-R, ABT Sportsline also relies on a multi-stage performance package for the RS4-R. This package consists of an additional engine control unit, the ABT Engine Control (AEC), and a high-performance sports exhaust system. With its four 102 mm carbon tailpipes, it also soars to new heights visually and acoustically. That this is no normal RS 4, though, can also be seen at first glance. Because this car is equipped with an extensive aerodynamic package. The delivery scope includes an ABT Front Lip, Front Flics, a Front Grille with RS4-R logo and a Rear Skirt Add On.

While the Audi RS 4 boasts 19-inch wheels in the standard version, ABT Sportsline naturally sets the bar a little higher in this respect as well. Despite its 21 inches, the athletically styled ABT SPORT GR alloy rim has not an ounce of unnecessary weight and features a strongly concave rim base. The matching tire format is 275/25 ZR21.


The fact that the ABT RS4-R literally sticks to the asphalt is not only due to its sport tires. The Bavarian tuning company manages to improve the already excellent standard suspension with ABT Sport Stabilizers and ABT Height Adjustable Suspension Springs. A complete coilover suspension system with a special ABT Shock Absorber Setup is also under development, in cooperation with the partner KW automotive. This setup provides a sporty-dynamic driving experience without neglecting the required comfort.

The ABT RS4-R catches the eye not only with its outward appearance: The individual interior design, which includes partial leather seats with a prominent RS5-R Logo, ABT Gear Shift Cover (carbon) and many other extras, is convincing in every aspect. And so, a sporty station wagon is born which not only wins acceleration races, but also wins over hearts

A Rich Mix of Classic Era and Modern Tuning

The Nissan S30 (sold in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z and in other markets as the Datsun 240Z, then later as the 260Z and 280Z) was the first generation of Z GT two-seat coupe, produced by Nissan Motors, Ltd. of Japan from 1969 to 1978. Some likes to call it the early generation of nowadays 350/370Z: Nissan’s successful sports coupe. So what happens when you combine the body of a Nissan/ Datsun Z with a GT-R engine? Here’s the result, a 520HP 1976 Datsun 280Z. Some would say this is insane others would say why?

The Land Rover Discovery has taken on a 110-tonne road train and the Australian Outback… and won. The sight of a seven-trailer truck being pulled by an SUV sounds far-fetched – but that’s exactly what happened when Land Rover put the Discovery to the ultimate towing test.

Land Rover completed the impressive display of towing capability by pulling a 100m road train in the remote Northern Territory to announce the arrival of the 2018 model year Discovery.


The Discovery Td6 has a maximum certified towing capacity of 3,500kg on public roads* but successfully towed a 110-tonne road train 16km along a closed section of the Lasseter Highway, thanks to its 258PS 3.0-litre diesel engine and four-wheel-drive traction.

Road trains of up to four trailers are only permitted in Australia’s vast Outback regions and typically carry fuel, mineral ore and cattle between remote rural communities. Strict regulations limit their length to 53.5m so Land Rover obtained special permission to pull seven trailers and the 12-tonne tractor unit – retained to operate the hydraulic brakes fitted to the trailers.

John Bilato, Managing Director of haulage specialist G&S Transport, took the wheel for the epic pull. He said: “When Land Rover first got in touch, I didn’t think the vehicle would be able to do it, so I was amazed by how easily the standard Discovery pulled a 110-tonne road train. And the smoothness of the gearchanges under that amount of load was genuinely impressive. These road trains are the most efficient form of road haulage on the planet and using the Discovery made this the most economical of all.”

The extreme test was carried out using a Discovery Td6 and is the latest in a series of impressive towing demonstrations completed by the Discovery family. At its 1989 launch, the original Discovery I was used to pull a train and last year the Discovery Sport premium compact SUV towed a trio of rail carriages 85ft above the Rhine River.

Quentin Spottiswoode, Land Rover Product Engineer, said: “Towing capability has always been an important part of Discovery DNA and the raw weight of the road train tells only half the story here. Pulling a rig and seven trailers, with the rolling resistance of so many axles to overcome, is a huge achievement. We expected the vehicle to do well but it passed this test with flying colours, hitting 44km/h along its 16km route.

The Discovery used a standard eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive system and was hooked up to the road train using a factory-fitted tow bar attachment. The road train itself was even carrying 10-tonnes of ballast in order to hit the magic 110-tonne weight mark.

With 600Nm of torque, the Td6 is well suited to pulling heavy loads. The 258PS 3.0-litre single-turbo engine features low-pressure exhaust recirculation and a two-stage oil pump for improved responses, refinement and efficiency. As a result, the diesel model delivers CO2 emissions of 189g/km and fuel economy of 39.2mpg (7.2l/100 km).


2018 model year enhancements

Discovery is now available with Jaguar Land Rover’s efficient 300PS four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine. The advanced powerplant uses Continuously Variable Valve Lift (CVVL) technology to optimise efficiency and a twin-scroll turbocharger with ceramic bearings for smooth responses and reduced friction. The new engine produces 400Nm of torque and CO2 emissions from 219g/km**.

In addition, Land Rover’s premium SUV gains new technologies including an Interactive Driver Display TFT instrument cluster. The state-of-the-art high-resolution panel provides contemporary graphics that create the impression of 3D surfaces with exceptional clarity and allow the driver to personalise the visual display around the two main dials.

All derivatives of the latest Discovery also feature Touch Pro infotainment with Jaguar Land Rover’s state-of-the-art 10-inch touchscreen interface on the centre console. Digital connectivity is enhanced with the introduction of 4G WiFi, providing superior connection speeds for up to eight mobile devices on the move.

Second-generation head-up display technology also provides a full-colour display and wider functionality, even projecting 4×4 information and improved navigation displays onto the windscreen ahead of the driver, while Cabin Air Ionisation is available on Discovery for the first time, delivering improved interior air quality for enhanced passenger wellbeing.

Towing king

The Discovery’s Advanced Tow Assist technology takes the stress out of reversing by providing responsive trajectory lines on the rear camera feed to the central touchscreen. This allows the driver to steer the vehicle using the rotary Terrain Response 2 controller on the centre console while the system calculates the steering inputs required to achieve the desired outcome.

In addition to Advanced Tow Assist, the Discovery’s award-winning towing capability also includes:

  • Trailer Light Test – allows customers to test their trailer lights without outside assistance
  • Rear Height Assist – allows the driver to lower and raise the height of the rear of the vehicle to making hitching a trailer simple
  • Hitch Assist – guides the driver to the trailer hitch point by displaying trajectory lines on the touchscreen feed to simplify the process
  • Nose Load Measurement – allows customers to quickly check the weight being applied to the vehicle tow bar to avoid dangerous overloading
  • Trailer Stability Assist – enhances safety on the move by detecting trailer sway and reduces the speed of the vehicle to restore control to the driver

Cadillac CTS-V the Beauty and the 640 HP Beast

It has been exactly one year since we drove the Cadillac CTS from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, and I still remember the article and the luxurious driving sensation as if it was yesterday; the deluxe on the inside, the beauty on the outside, and the super comfort of this luxury sedan by General Motors as it took us on a self-driven cruise from the city of dreams to the capital of the UAE.


The CTS was pearl white and had the most stunning luxurious exterior and interior, powered by a 2.0L Turbocharged engine. Well all of this is about to change, as today we are test driving the CTS in its “V” edition. If you think that the CTS has anything to do with the CTS-V, you are way off track, and to prove it, we took the CTS-V on the same cruise as we did with the CTS… Wow, what a rush!

Our day started as I was at the hotel lobby in Dubai, waiting for the guys from General Motors to drop the beast off for a few days test drive. I did my homework on this car and knew that I would be impressed, so I prepared myself to come face to face with a vehicle like no-other. Finally, I got a call from the driver telling me that in a few seconds he would be outside the hotel to drop the car, but I already knew that he had arrived, as I could hear the roaring sound of that beast, even from inside the hotel.

As I reached the hotel parking lot, the Cadillac CTS-V was parked and ready for delivery.  The guy from General Motors was giving me the tour, and all I was hearing in my head was the echoes of the Imperial March from Star Wars, the perfect music for a spaceship like no other.

I went daydreaming as my mind indulged itself with a higher state of consciousness, admiring the exceptional beauty of this pearl white Caddy CTS-V; only General Motors’ Cadillac engineers can produce a car with a unique design that is at the same time luxurious and has that traits of a beast.

It all starts with the aggressive front design, V shaped hood with a Carbon-fiber hood vent needed to air the heart of this beast, flowing all the way down to a large sporty grill like no other and connected to wider front fenders. Our V was also equipped with the optional carbon fiber upgrade package offering a longer carbon front splitter, a taller carbon spoiler, and a carbon rear diffuser for a more aggressive and sporty look. On top of that, one couldn’t but notice the functional fender vents, the functional double twin exhaust tailpipes, the 19” alloy wheels, and the lower stance, giving the CTS-V the muscular shape it needs to make you think twice about racing this factory-tuned street racer luxury sedan once it flashes in your rear view mirror.

Then, just like a morning alarm clock, the pen click of the General Motors driver signing off on delivery woke me up from my daydream and placed me in the front wheel of the V.  The interior of this Cadillac is as it should be. Cadillac never ceases to impress its lovers with a sophisticated and sporty, yet luxurious, interior cabinet made out of the finest materials from leather and suede-like microfiber. The layout is driver-oriented with all the instruments and controls placed at the driver’s fingertips. I personally fell in love with the digital dashboard featuring the “V” emblem, reminding you that this is a racecar made for roads. The technology used in the CUE infotainment system includes the front Cadillac performance seats and mostly the new curb-view video system that uses two downward-facing cameras to help drivers avoid scratching the lower lip on curb bumps.

Keys in hand, ignition on, and what a rush!

Although still parked, just hearing the roaring sound of that beast made me shiver all over. It was then when I realized how much trouble I’m in. I hit the road, heading towards Abu Dhabi for an enjoyable trip, and the V Badge proved to be not just a badge for show. Equipped with the almighty Z06 Corvette super LT4 engine, with minor modifications, this Super Sedan has all what is takes to rip the tarmac off the roads. The LT4 is a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, with 640 HP and 882 N/m of torque, paired exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission designed by General Motors, leading to an exhilarating acceleration of 0-100 Km/h in just under 3.7 seconds and a top speed of more than 320 Km/h, making the CTS-V one of the fastest luxury sedans on the road.

The Cadillac CTS-V is a not a racecar, it is a very well crafted luxurious mean machine made for daily drives and it acts like it. Despite what people may think, the car performs superbly on the highway and has a very quiet cabinet for that luxurious cruising sensation. It is also characterized by a cylinder deactivation system that shuts down half of the cylinders in cruising mode. However, the power is there when you need it for a quick overtake.

As we reached our destination in Abu Dhabi, the 200+ Km highway didn’t quite cut it for us. The public roads are no place to push this car to its limits; however. it is always fun to try.

The CTS-V has 4 driving modes and it had to be tested, unfortunately we couldn’t use the track mode as we should but we came pretty close once we reached that empty parking lot.

Equipped with the latest driving technologies, the Cadillac CTS-V is a killer machine with a perfect precision tool. The handling was awesome; it loses control when it needs to and gains it back in perfection. All systems came into play that day: Magnetic Ride Control suspension, Performance Traction Management (PTM) system, Electronically Controlled Rear Differential, and so much more.

The sun has set and the day was over as we headed down to our Abu Dhabi Hotel to get some rest after a long day of driving and fun. I personally crashed immediately, as I couldn’t wait for the next morning to hear that roaring sound of the ignition start once more. Speaking of that, and I know lots of guys will agree with me on this, the exhaust sound is as awesome as it is forceful. However, your neighbors may think otherwise when you leave the driveway at 6 a.m.  So you might consider starting the car in tour mode, which keeps the muffler-bypass valves closed to quiet the growl until you are clear to go.

Finally, I can truly say that the Cadillac CTS-V is a combination of a beauty and a beast, in one racetrack-capable luxury sedan.
