Adventure in Austria onboard the new Jeep Wrangler 2019

The adventure with Jeep began about 77 years ago and continued over the years evolving to become the synonym of adventure, freedom, and authenticity.

We are all familiar with the legendary Jeep Wrangler and classify it as King of off-roading, however, the all-New Jeep Wrangler is a whole new story or should I say a whole new chapter in the book of Jeep’s adventure tales.

The new Jeep Chapter starts with our story seeking adventure and entertainment and what would be a better choice for such experience other than Camp Jeep’s location in the wild forest of Austria?

We landed in Austria around noon time and were truly exhausted from the overnight flight, the journey began as we moved from the airport towards Camp Jeep’s location. Once off the highway, the roads started to get narrower and the tire marks on the muddy roadsides started to get bigger reciting the Jeepers’ tale from the night before, our hearts started to beat faster as the adrenaline rushed into our veins with every sign we pass along the way as we came closer to the camp.

Our driver dropped us at the gate, the huge sign said “Welcome to Jeep Camp”, and just like a kid coming home from school on that first day of vacation, I threw out my luggage and took my camera and strolled among the all-new Jeep Wrangler models parked inside the camp. Gazing around, I was thrilled to come across a magnificent heavily modified Mopar Jeep with 707 horsepower and more importantly going through a trip back in time in the history corner with the 1941 Willis and other historical milestone vehicles by the American Manufacturer Jeep.

Our joy didn’t last much as we were informed that driving the New Jeep Wrangler will be taking place on the next day. So as soon as we returned to our hotel and without any hesitation, I jumped into my world of dreams fast forwarding the hours to the next day. At first sight of sunrise, I was the first one to be on set and ready for the new Jeep Wrangler adventure in the forest of Austria.

But first, I couldn’t but mention the beautiful mountainous view in the morning with the golden sunrise reflecting a must-have painting on the exterior of the new wrangler.

At first glance, the exterior of the all-new Wrangler has kept the authenticity of the Wrangler’s iconic designs with the round headlights and the instantly recognizable seven slots grill however with a closer look and for those who are Wrangler freaks, the difference is noticeable. The Jeep Wrangler is now bolder, sportier and most importantly still screams wrangler in its iconic design.

Perhaps the most important change in the new Jeep Wrangler is the twist in functionalities, especially that now you can alter its shape easier and faster with the adoption of new hinges for doors and roof panels.

You can not start an adventure without removing the doors, windshields and roof panels, the doors come now with lightweight aluminum and can be easily removed with the new hinges screws, the windshield can be folded as easy as it comes with the fact that you can keep the rearview mirror useable after removing the windshield, the roof panels especially the rear ones are now one click away from total freedom.

Now that the exterior is set, converted and ready for adventure, we started packing the needed tools and equipment for the adventure. The All-New Wrangler 2019 has now a wide variety of smart storage solutions in door panels nets, new locations for cup holders, several phone storage locations, under-floor storage and places you won’t even believe it can be used to hide stuff or keep it safe when roof panels are up, what I liked personally and was really handy is the presence of the Screws and bolts organizer where I got a safe place to store and organize all the screws that I removed when unboxing my wrangler.

Having said that and now ready for the roads, one thing comes to our mind: we are now on our way to hit the dirt, mud, rocks, water and whatever nature throws in our way so we need to be ready to receive some mud, sand, and water inside the cabin, and since now the interior cabin is more advanced in technology with the new Uconnect infotainment system bragging its capabilities on the 8.4 inch screen and also with the adoption  of high-quality finishes materials, will you be able to enjoy it to the max without worrying about the aftermath? Well, Wrangler’s engineers added a final touch to protect the cabin’s high-quality materials with fully washable interior and a protective rubber cover for the information and entertainment system screen, so now nothing can stop us.

Let the adventure begin on aboard the New Jeep Wrangler with the Engine Start button first appearance on a wrangler and off we go. We started our journey on some paved roads and here you can clearly notice the driving sensation from the previous generation, the cabin is much quieter and the driving is much softer. However, the test drive is for the off-roading capabilities, we already knew what we were in for but nevertheless we had to go for it: mud, rocks, trees, dirt, water, wind and fire and all the elements of nature couldn’t stop us from having fun, laughter, adventure, and freedom. The mechanical capabilities of the New Wrangler are no different from the previous generation with the PentaStar V6 3.6-liter engine setup with off-roading systems capable of overcoming any obstacle. Additionally, the new wrangler came equipped with an electronic front swing bar for more flexibility especially on sandy dunes and rocks.

The result is that the All-New Jeep Wrangler 2019 is more than ever capable of delivering both joys of improved on-road calmer experience and off-road rugged driving with a more modern design that remains authentic to it true origins equipped with outdoor freedom, advanced safety, and technological features.

FCA US Toledo Machining Plant to Build Key Component for First Plug-in Hybrid Jeep®

Wrangler JL Range w Toledo - Arab Motor World

FCA US has announced that it has awarded the production of the Power Electronics module for the Jeep® Wrangler PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) to its Toledo Machining Plant, positioning the 54-year-old Ohio facility to play a key role in helping the Company meet future regulatory requirements.

As part of the Capital Markets Day presentation on June 1, 2018, FCA committed to expanding its electrified propulsion systems in global architectures spanning the full range of vehicle segments. The Jeep Wrangler PHEV, which is expected to launch in 2020, will be one of more than 30 vehicle nameplates with electrified solutions by 2022.

“The insourcing of this highly advanced work to Toledo Machining is a reflection of the commitment the workforce has made to improving their processes through the implementation of World Class Manufacturing,” said Brian Harlow, Head of Manufacturing, FCA North America. “As the most iconic of the Jeep nameplates, it is critical that we flawlessly execute the launch of the Wrangler PHEV. The Toledo Machining employees have made a strong business case as to why we should put our faith in them to deliver a great product.”

The Power Electronics module for the Wrangler houses two key electrified powertrain components – the Power Inverter Module and the Integrated Dual Charger Module, which consists of the on-board charger and the DC/DC converter. The Power Electronics module is packaged in a protective structure under the vehicle between the exhaust and the prop shaft. Toledo Machining will assemble the sub-systems for the module, upload the applicable software for the Power Inverter Module, and also conduct final testing on the coolant and electrical systems. Finished modules will be delivered to the Toledo Assembly Complex where the Wrangler PHEV will be assembled.

Nearly 850 Toledo Machining employees currently produce steering columns and torque converters for a number of FCA production locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

About Toledo Machining

Construction of the Perrysburg, Ohio, facility began in 1964 with production following two years later in 1966. Since 2011, the Company has invested nearly US$92 million to produce steering columns and torque converters for eight-speed rear-wheel-drive and nine-speed front-wheel-drive transmissions in the 1.2-million-square-foot plant.

Toledo Machining was awarded silver status for its results in implementing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) in June 2018. WCM is a methodology that focuses on eliminating waste, increasing productivity, and improving quality and safety in a systematic and organised way. It engages the workforce to provide and implement suggestions on how to improve their jobs and their plants. Toledo Machining was awarded bronze status in September 2016.

Modern, authentic Wrangler design

The all-new Jeep Wrangler builds on a sculptural design aesthetic that is immediately recognizable with its traditional Jeep design cues, from the round headlights to the seven-slot grille; from the trapezoidal wheel arches to the visible hinges; from the folding windshield to the sport bar; from the removable doors to the open-air configurations with hard top or soft top.

The Jeep design team gave the legendary seven-slot grille a more modern look that now sees both of the outer grille slats intersecting with the headlights. The windshield is tilted to an optimal degree to improve aerodynamics and features a new four bolt design at the top of the windshield’s frame to allow the windshield to fold down quickly and easily.

New lightweight, high-strength aluminium doors feature the size of the Torx bit tool size stamped directly onto the hinge to easily remove the doors. All Wrangler models now feature body-colored sport bars, which are welded to the body and feature integrated grab handles.

New interiors offer comfort and functionality

The interior of the new Jeep Wrangler combines authentic styling, versatility, functionality and intuitive feature use, in addition to a more stylish and comfortable cabin, thanks to the use of high-quality materials and finishes.

Jeep functionality and versatility are celebrated in the completely restyled center console which houses the gear shift selection, transfer case and parking brake. Real bolts feature on the shifter and grab handles and frame the infotainment screen, highlighting genuine construction methods.

Making its debut on the all-new Jeep Wrangler, a push-button starter featuring a weather-proof surround is easily located within the driver’s reach. The driver and front passenger vinyl-wrapped door trim panels are soft to the touch and feature lengthened arm rests for better comfort.

The instrument cluster features a 7-inch / 177.8 mm thin-film transistor (TFT) information LED display. Offered as standard on the Sahara and Rubicon versions, the display is full-colour and allows the driver to configure information in more than 100 ways. Integrated buttons on the steering wheel control audio, voice, and speed functions and allow the driver to keep their hands on the wheel at all times.

The centre console features a standard 7-inch / 177.8 mm touchscreen for Sport, Sahara and Rubicon – also available for Sahara and Rubicon is an 8.4-inch / 213.36 mm touchscreen – the latter being the largest and most advanced UconnectTM display ever offered on a Wrangler. The fourth-generation UconnectTM system enhances the user interface and system performance with quicker start up times and improved screen resolution. Directly below the touchscreen are functional features such as climate and volume control knobs and media connectivity ports.

Jeep Wrangler has always stood out for its functionality and the ability to give drivers the possibility to enjoy any adventure with the utmost ease. The all-new Wrangler is no exception, offering a host of clever storage solutions, durable mesh pockets that extend the entire length of the doors, cup holders and numerous phone storage areas. The glove box is now damped and like the center console, can be locked to safely secure valuables when the top is down. An under-floor storage area behind the rear seat provides room to secure small items out of sight.

The available all-new Trail Rail cargo management system allows easy access to the contents in the cargo area and provides additional storage options to organize and secure cargo. There is also a functional new “screws and bolts” organizer at the bottom of the trunk, to store away individual screws, and a tool kit with instructions inside the central armrest. Both the tool kit and organizer were designed to hold the screws and bolts of the Wrangler’s tops, doors and foldable windshield when driving open-air, and underline how everything onboard the iconic Jeep has been engineered for easy, practical usage.

One of Wrangler’s unique characteristics is the entirely washable interior and the protective rubber cover for the infotainment system screen, that allow easy clean ups in complete peace of mind.

Reliable body-on-frame design at the heart of legendary Jeep capability

Thanks to its body-on-frame design and superbly engineered five-link suspension system, Wrangler delivers benchmark 4×4 capability, with improved on-road driving dynamics, passenger safety and a more comfortable driving experience. The use of lightweight, high-strength aluminium closures – including doors, door hinges, fender flares, windshield frame and magnesium swing gate – contribute to reduce the overall vehicle weight, improving its fuel efficiency. The all-new Wrangler’s suspension has been tuned to optimize on-road handling and ride comfort without sacrificing off-road capability.

Powertrain for the all-new Jeep Wrangler

The upgraded 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine delivers 285hp @ 6,400 rpm and 347 Nm of torque @ 4,100 rpm, and now features Stop-Start (ESS) as standard equipment. It was engineered to provide a broad torque band with a focus on low-end torque – an essential trait a vehicle with extreme off-road performance levels such as the Wrangler.

The new eight-speed automatic transmission enables the vehicle to optimize engine output while on the trails or enjoying smooth, efficient power delivery at highway speeds. Uniquely suited to the requirements of the all-new Wrangler, the new automatic gearbox delivers unmatched off-road capability.

Jeep Rides WSL Founders’ Cup of Surfing Wave as Exclusive Automotive Partner

Jeep WSL Cup of Surfing

As part of a multi-year global deal, the Jeep brand was the exclusive automotive partner of the World Surf League’s Founders’ Cup of Surfing event, an historic nation-versus-nation team event featuring a cross-section of the world’s best surfers, held at WSL Surf Ranch in Lemoore, California on May 5 & 6, 2018.

The first-ever official event at the WSL Surf Ranch took place in front of a sellout crowd and was a showcase of amazing surfing skills, with the world’s best female and male surfers battling in teams for their home countries. An extremely tight competition saw the combined World Team run out overall winners ahead of Brazil in 2nd, USA in 3rd, Australia in 4th and Europe in 5th. The World Team was led by South African pair Jordy Smith (Team Captain) and Bianca Buitendag, backed up by Michel Bourez (Tahiti), Paige Hareb (New Zealand) and Kanoa Igarashi (Japan).

Achieving the top-scoring wave of the contest, Filipe Toledo of the Brazil Team earned a perfect 10 for his team and received the Jeep Best Ride Award, which also earned him the prize of a 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

The WSL Surf Ranch facility boasts the best man-made wave in history – a 700-yard, high-performance, bi-directional wave featuring barrel sections and maneuver sections. Primarily existing as a testing facility, the Lemoore site has spent the past two years dialing in the technology under the guidance of 11-time WSL Champion Kelly Slater (USA) and feedback from visiting WSL surfers. The technology has captured the imagination of the global surfing community, and the Founders’ Cup was the WSL’s first public event at the facility – showcasing the wave and the world’s best surfers through a unique team format.

“Surf and Jeep brand fans share an extreme enthusiasm that drive them to seek their next adventure,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA. “The Founders’ Cup and the Surf Ranch are born from the passion of an entire community that dreamed its existence. These are the same dreamers and doers that fuel our Jeep brand culture. We not only share the same sensibilities as the World Surf League, we also provide the global reach that is both uniquely compatible and necessary to extend across their worldwide surf events.”

Jeep had an on-site activation at the event, including the recently announced “Jeep Sessions: A Surfing Journey in 360°” virtual reality experience, where fans can take a virtual reality adventure with Jeep Ambassadors Jordy Smith and Malia Manuel. In addition, a series of “Crazy Passionate” videos that embody the shared DNA between the Jeep brand and the spirit and soul of surfing/surf lifestyle are running across the Jeep brand’s social and digital channels.

Additional elements of the Founders’ Cup partnership included:

  • The all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler and new 2019 Jeep Cherokee were on display
  • Jeep brand vehicles were assigned as VIP transport

Five teams – USA, Brazil, Australia, Europe and World – made up of three men and two women surfers from the elite WSL Championship Tour, competed over the two-day event. The competition was hosted against a festival backdrop honouring the culture of surfing – food, music, beverage, art and special guests were on site for enjoyment.

As the WSL’s exclusive automotive partner, the Jeep brand continues its sponsorship of surfing’s most sought-after properties – the Jeep Leaderboard and the iconic yellow Jeep Leader Jersey.

Jeep was recently recognised as a 2018 “Cult Brand” Honoree at the annual The Gathering (Society of Cult Brands) – the first and only automotive brand to be recognised by the association. Eight brands, and their leaders, were honoured for their outstanding courage and unconventional thinking in achieving enviable brand engagement and reaping the benefits of cult-like status.

With 174 models competing across 13 award categories, the Jeep brand stood out by winning two coveted first places, repeating its success of the last two years. The iconic Jeep Wrangler won the ‘Off-Roader’ A category, for the fifth consecutive year, taking 29.4% of the expert readers’ votes, well ahead of the second-placed (23.9%). It was also the first time the all-new Jeep Wrangler (JL), the fourth generation of the original off-road vehicle, received the Off Road Magazine readers’ award.

Meanwhile, the Jeep Renegade was named ‘Best Subcompact SUV’ in the C category, for the fourth year in a row. The Renegade was the first choice of Off Road Magazine readers, earning 16.8 percent of the votes. This was a particularly impressive achievement as the Renegade is the first Jeep model ever to run in the sub-compact SUV class. Its unmistakable Jeep design, as well as its class-leading 4×4 capability, were particularly well received with Off Road Magazine readers.

The flagship Jeep Grand Cherokee achieved second place in the ‘Luxury Off-Roader’ B category, ahead of all other imported brands in Germany. The all-new Jeep Wrangler took second place as best imported vehicle in the ’Newcomer’ category – a particularly important recognition as the model has yet to be launched in Europe and has never actually been seen on European roads so far.

The Off Road Awards first started in 1982, giving enthusiastic readers of the specialist 4×4 magazine the chance to vote for their favourite models. Over 43,500 readers took part in the 2018 edition of the Off Road polls.

The all-new Jeep Compass: best in class 4×4 off-road capability

The all-new Jeep® Compass offers an unmatched combination of attributes that includes legendary and best in class 4×4 off-road capability, contemporary and authentic Jeep design, excellent on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom and a full array of advanced user-friendly connectivity and safety technologies.

Powered by an economical, fuel-efficient 2.4-litre Tigershark petrol engine with MultiAir2 technology, it delivers 173 hp at 6,400 rpm, 237 Nm of torque and is paired to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. Superior on-road driving dynamics result from its architecture, fully independent suspensions, segment-exclusive frequency damping front-and-rear-strut system and precise electric power steering.

Compass, which features distinctive, contemporary design, with a wide stance and exceptional glass-to-wheel proportions, is immediately recognisable as a Jeep thanks to characteristic traditional design cues, such as the seven-slot grille and the trapezoidal wheel arches.

Jeep designers gave the legendary seven-slot grille a fresh look by setting each of the individual chrome slots in gloss black. LED signature headlamp bezels featuring a black outline add personality and attitude to the face of the all-new Jeep Compass.

A fast, dramatic roofline and muscular fender flares create a stunning profile. A signature, full window surround – an element that tracks completely around the vehicle – along with the available gloss black painted roof add a unique, premium appearance. An available dual-pane sunroof designed to maximise surface and headroom delivers the open-air freedom that belongs to the Jeep brand.

A standout feature of the rear of the Compass is its unique LED tail lamps – slim and rectangular in shape, they flow into the liftgate for a commanding yet premium appearance instantly recognisable as a Jeep Compass on the road or trail.

The upscale interior, which comfortably seats five adults, features sophisticated interior details, refined materials and advanced technology that define your driving experience. Available premium LED ambient lighting adds an inviting aura inside the cabin, while clean, sculpted forms and elegant Piano Black and anodized Silver bezels with chrome knobs add upscale distinction. The trapezoidal centre stack bezel – a characteristic Jeep design cue – sports colours and finishes that complement the interior choice.

The centre stack houses a touchscreen Uconnect™ system display and neatly integrates functional features such as gear-shift selection, Selec-Terrain controls, electronic parking brake, engine stop-start (ESS) controls, climate and volume control knobs, and easily-accessible media charging and connectivity ports. The thoughtfully designed driver’s instrument cluster features a 3.5- or 7-inch LED display, and the full-colour 7-inch (177.8 mm) screen – standard on Limited and Trailhawk models – displays information that the driver can configure for easier access while driving. Setting a new standard in terms of infotainment systems in the Jeep line-up, Compass offers two new Uconnect systems (7.0 and 8.4 NAV), delivering communication, entertainment and navigation features to enhance both the driving experience and passenger comfort. The latest Uconnect systems feature high definition screens with capacitive touch and include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (standard on Limited and Trailhawk, depending on market) for hands-free phone, navigation (only on the 8.4 NAV system) and voice texting, allowing customers to seamlessly integrate their phone’s voice control systems and a full range of infotainment features. Limited and Trailhawk models also feature Uconnect 8.4 NAV with Jeep Skills, an easy-to-use application that provides off-road-specific indexes so that drivers can monitor their performance on trails.

Thoughtful, useful standard features such as the fold-forward front passenger seat and 60/40 split-folding rear seats plus the available power rear lift gate and innovative height adjustable cargo floor that allows you to lower the rear cargo floor to accommodate the transport of taller items or raise the floor to help ease load-ins and create a level carrying surface, mean that you can configure the interior to fit your specific needs.

FCA’s “small wide architecture,” a fully independent suspension, segment-exclusive frequency damping front-and-rear-strut system, and precise electric power steering combine to deliver superior on-road driving dynamics in the all-new Jeep Compass.

Best-in-class off-road capability comes courtesy of two advanced, intelligent full-time 4×4 systems: Jeep Active Drive and the Jeep Active Drive Low (the latter with a 20:1 crawl ratio), each of which can send 100% of available torque to any one wheel when needed. Both Jeep Active Drive and Active Drive Low 4×4 systems include the Jeep Selec-Terrain system, providing up to five modes (Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud, plus an exclusive Rock mode on the Trailhawk) for the best four-wheel-drive performance on any surface; on- or off-road; and in any weather conditions.

Compass also features a disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit (PTU) which delivers enhanced fuel economy on 4×4 models. Both Jeep Active Drive and Active Drive Low 4×4 systems instantly engage when 4×4 traction is needed. All 4×4 Compass models also feature the 4WD “Lock” function, which locks the 4×4 traction permanently and can be selected by the driver with the dedicated button on the Select Terrain dial control.

The Trailhawk model has an increased ride height of almost 2.5 cm, skid plates, red rear tow hook, unique front and rear fascias that deliver 30 degree approach, 24.4 degree breakover and 33.6 degree departure angles, aggressive 17-inch off-road tyres and up to 216 mm of ground clearance. For even greater Trail Rated off-road capability, the Trailhawk’s Selec-Terrain also includes Selec-Speed Control with Hill-descent Control.

Driver and passenger safety was paramount in the development of the all-new Jeep Compass, which offers more than 70 available active and passive safety and security features including Forward Collision Warning-Plus, LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus, Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection, ParkView rear backup camera with dynamic grid lines, Automated Parallel and Perpendicular Park assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, electronic stability control (ESC) with electronic roll mitigation and six standard air bags. For added protection, the vehicle boasts a “safety cage” construction with more than 65 percent of high-strength steel – this not only contributes to crash worthiness, but is further evidence of a level of engineering sophistication that makes this vehicle the most capable small SUV ever.

Recently awarded a maximum five-star EuroNCAP rating in Europe, Compass also earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the US Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), achieving “good” ratings in each of five demanding IIHS tests that evaluate crashworthiness. Its available Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) technology also earned a grade of “superior.” Each is the highest possible IIHS rating in its category.

The Jeep ‘Easter Eggs’ tradition – hidden design elements that Jeep stylists conceal in their creations, to be discovered throughout time by their owners – continues with the all-new Compass. Originally, Easter Eggs took the form of an additional graphic to an otherwise standard part of the vehicle, but over the course of the years they developed into a typical element of Jeep design.  Often, they are styling cues that recall the brand’s design heritage to underscore the original roots of Jeep’s design philosophy. Other times they are inspired by nature or have an adventure theme.

Jeep Easter eggs add an element of surprise in the experience of a new vehicle, further extending the pleasure of discovery. They are testimony to the creative passion of Jeep designers and visually express the fun they have in the development of Jeep vehicles.

Now available at Jeep showrooms across the Middle East, discover Jeep Compass in its four different configurations: Sport, Longitude, Limited (the top-of-the-range trim in terms of refinement, standard technological contents and equipment) and Trailhawk (offering best-in-class Trail Rated 4×4 capability through specific standard features designed for customers demanding the most in terms of off-road capability).

Jeep® and Mopar Brands Unveil Seven Concept Vehicles

The Jeep® and Mopar brands have once again joined forces to create seven new, custom-built concept vehicles for the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, March 24 – April 1. For the 52nd year, thousands of off-road enthusiasts will head to Moab for the annual Jeep event to participate in a week of technical off-roading on some of the most picturesque trails that the country has to offer.

“Pushing the limit is something the Jeep brand is no stranger to and these seven new, exciting and capable concept vehicles are the latest example of that,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand, FCA. “Every year, we look forward to introducing new concept vehicles and ideas to our enthusiasts. The Moab Easter Jeep Safari presents a unique and perfect opportunity to collect valuable insight from our most loyal customers.”

A comprehensive assortment of production and prototype Jeep Performance Parts are featured on this year’s concept vehicles. The Mopar brand develops all Jeep Performance Parts with rigorous specifications and legendary 4×4 capability in mind. This allows Jeep owners to further enhance their stock vehicles with confidence. Mopar already has more than 200 parts available for the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

“When it comes to customization, no vehicle can match the Jeep Wrangler,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA. “This is why we worked very closely with the Jeep brand to develop an exclusive line of more than 200 parts and accessories to enhance – even more – Jeep Wrangler’s off-road capability to fit any customer’s lifestyle. Almost all Wrangler vehicles sold are fitted with at least one Mopar accessory, and you see this perfect combination between vehicle and accessories come to life every year at the Easter Jeep Safari.”

The 2018 Easter Jeep Safari concept vehicles include:

Jeep 4SPEED
Light, quick and nimble, the Jeep 4SPEED concept is the latest in a line of lightweight Easter Jeep Safari concepts. Built “4SPEED,” this latest lightweight concept, following the popular Pork Chop concept in 2011 and Stitch concept in 2013, bolsters Wrangler’s off-road capability and performance through extensive weight savings, and showcases the all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine.

On the exterior, the Jeep 4SPEED concept features custom weight saving measures including a carbon fiber hood, high-clearance carbon fiber fender flares and a carbon fiber rear tub with perforated aluminum panels. The 4SPEED concept boasts a sleek side profile courtesy of a raked windshield, elongated door openings and an aggressively swept back custom cage. The rear of the concept utilizes custom, lightweight bodywork, and because of the combined weight savings, 4SPEED’s ride height is two inches higher than a stock Wrangler.

In addition to being lightweight, overall length has been shortened by 22 inches while leaving the wheelbase at its stock length, resulting in increased approach and departure angles.

For even more capability, Jeep 4SPEED features Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 4.10 gear ratio and 18-inch lightweight monoblock wheels wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires.

The interior features a customized instrument panel, and re-trimmed front seats, while the rear seats have been removed and a welding curtain has been repurposed as a bikini top. The floor has been bedlined and the foot wells have been replaced with perforated aluminum panels.

The Jeep 4SPEED is powered by a 2.0-liter I-4 turbocharged engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Jeep Sandstorm
Inspired by Baja desert racers, the Jeep Sandstorm concept is all about blitzing long, sandy straightaways while still being capable of handling the daily driving duties. To accomplish this, the Sandstorm features off-road hardware that will handle both with ease, including an extreme-duty suspension system and a powertrain with excess power on tap.

To fit the Baja look, the exterior features custom styling cues including a vented carbon fiber hood, vented high clearance front and rear fender flares and a cage that includes a rear mounted lay down style spare tire carrier. The exterior handles and swing gate have been removed while the rear doors have been chopped for a cleaner look.

Other custom Baja-inspired touches include high clearance front and rear tube bumpers, modified rock rails, an integrated on-board air compressor, race-style fuel filler, KC Carbon series front auxiliary lights and a chase light.

The front axle has been moved forward four inches and utilizes a heavy-duty longarm four-link suspension and track bar. The rear axle has been moved back two inches and utilizes a triangulated trailing arm four-link suspension. The longer wheelbase allows for increased high-speed stability. Custom coilovers and bypass shocks allow the front wheels to travel 14 inches while the rear wheels can travel up to 18 inches.

For even more capability, the Jeep Sandstorm concept includes heavy-duty front and rear Dynatrac 60 axles with a 5.68 gear ratio, 17-inch beadlock wheels and 39.5-inch BF Goodrich Krawler tires.

The Baja race truck theme continues throughout the interior, which features a custom cage that integrates the chassis, leather-trimmed front seats and unique low-back racing bucket seats in the rear. A racing-inspired cluster and 7-inch off-road GPS unit handle navigation while independent rocker switches control on-board electronics, air compressor and axle lockers. The Sandstorm concept sheds all plastic trim and carpet in favor of a bedlined floor.

The Jeep Sandstorm is powered by a 6.4-liter V-8 engine from the Mopar performance catalog and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

Jeep B-Ute
The Jeep B-Ute concept is equipped with a variety of Jeep Performance Parts for the ultimate off-road adventure.

The Jeep B-Ute’s exterior features unique front and rear fascias and upper grille area, a hood with heat extractors, and wider flares.

Jeep Performance Parts featured on the B-Ute concept include a 1.5-inch lift kit, a roof rack and rock rails. The Jeep B-Ute’s off-road capabilities are increased by using 17-inch wheels with a 30-millimeter offset, wrapped in BF Goodrich T/A Baja Champion tires.

Inside, the B-Ute features custom trimmed seats with Mineral inserts, a Carbonite finish on the shifter, speaker and vent surrounds, Piano Black inserts, a MOLLE system on the back of the front seats, and Mopar all-weather floor mats.

The Jeep B-Ute is powered by a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip
The Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip stirs up nostalgic memories of going to Yellowstone National Park on a summer family vacation. This particular Wagoneer retains its heritage and charm as it continues to utilize its original steel body, while the chassis and drivetrain have been updated.

The wheelbase has been stretched five inches, and the body has been updated to accept the additional length, a wider track and custom fender flares. Other subtle exterior styling tweaks include reshaped wheel wells, bumpers and integrated rock rails. A razor grille freshens the look up front, while Bottle Green architectural glass replaces the original pieces.

The Wagoneer’s off-road capability has been bolstered courtesy of a boxed and reinforced frame, Dana 44 front and rear axles with lockers, four-link suspension with coilover springs, and 17-inch steel wheels wrapped in 33-inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires.

Inside, the Wagoneer features original front and rear bench seats, door panels, kick and rear panels, all trimmed in Oxblood-colored leather. A wicker headliner gives the Wagoneer an open, lighter feel and the floor has been bedlined. Additional interior details include a custom cooler fashioned from period-correct luggage, and a tool box created from the valve cover of this Wagoneer’s original 230 Tornado OHC-6 engine.

Known as the original luxury 4×4, this 1965 Jeep Wagoneer is rich with heritage and is built to scale the trails of Moab or cruise the vast highways of the western states. Built from 1963 to 1991, the Wagoneer was the first four-wheel-drive vehicle mated to an automatic transmission, pioneering the first modern SUV. The classic Jeep Wagoneer is a beloved icon and continues to enjoy a robust following of enthusiasts worldwide.

The Jeep Wagoneer heritage vehicle is powered by a 5.7-liter V-8 and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Nacho Jeep
The Nacho Jeep serves as a rolling catalog loaded with selections from the Mopar brand’s Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) menu, offering a blueprint off-roaders can follow to create their own custom trail vehicle.

Before a single part or accessory is added, this 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon already stands out thanks to the rare Nacho yellow color. Jeep Performance Parts featured on the Nacho concept include a brawny hood that is accented with the standard black hood graphic featuring the all-new JPP badge, which is engineered to accommodate a cold-air intake that feeds the 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine. The satin black Mopar grille adds contrast to the Nacho exterior, and the sturdy steel Rubicon bumper offers off-road protection and functionality, and includes a Warn Winch kit.

Superior trail visibility, inspired by the Jeep Luminator concept vehicle shown at Moab in 2017, is delivered by A-pillar and brush guard-mounted LED lights from the Automotive Lighting division of Magneti Marelli, that mount via JPP brackets. Automotive Lighting LED header lights seal to the windshield for extra forward illumination, and a rear off-road scouting light uses four-color LEDs to communicate trail conditions: stop (red), 1-3 miles per hour (amber), 3-25 mph (green) and a rear flood light (white).

A 2-inch lift kit elevates the Nacho concept for increased off-road clearance and includes new 2.5-inch diameter aluminum body shocks. Oversized 37-inch tires wrap around 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and a satin-carbon finish on the wheels is the sole conceptual touch on the Nacho concept. The beadlock trim rings are finished in high-gloss back and secured with cadmium-plated bolts. Other Jeep Performance Parts include rock rails that are thicker and wider to protect the exterior and carry a grippier coating similar to that used on Ram Truck bedliners, 2-inch-round tube doors, and grab handles embossed with the iconic Jeep grille logo to assist in vehicle ingress.

The spare tire tailgate hinge reinforcement provides a rock-solid foundation for a spare tire carrier that mounts to the tailgate with strength enough to handle 37-inch tires. A JPP fuel door in black finish completes the exterior.

Off-road performance is achieved without sacrificing premium interior appointments. Black Katzkin leather seats are dressed up with the Jeep grille logo embroidered in light tungsten stitching on seatbacks, and light tungsten accent stitching on the seat bolsters.

Jeep Jeepster
Available Jeep Performance Parts concept modifications combine to bring to life the Jeep Jeepster concept. Based on a Wrangler Rubicon, this concept evokes the color palette and speedy styling of the 1966 Jeepster.

The original’s classic two-tone graphic theme is mirrored on its modern-day counterpart with a Firecracker Red body, set off by a Bright White concept hardtop, chopped by two inches, and a Bright White custom windshield raked back 2.5 degrees to create a cropped, compact appearance. The customized windshield maintains the all-new Wrangler’s convenient fold-down feature. Bright White also accents the perimeter of the Rubicon fender flares, and an upper portion of the concept half doors. Jeep badging is replaced with a tri-color Jeepster hard badge.

The Jeepster deftly balances concept possibilities with a range of presently available Jeep Performance Parts, including a JPP hood and graphic, without the optional cold-air intake or snorkel. LED off-road lights in 5- and 7-inch applications illuminate the trail for the Jeepster, shining bright at up to 8,000 lumens. The LED lights are mounted to the A-pillar via light brackets. The Rubicon steel bumper features premium production LED fog lamps.

A 2-inch lift kit and 2.5-inch diameter aluminum body shocks work with oversized, 37-inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires to raise the Jeepster above off-road obstacles. Beadlock-capable 17-inch wheels are accented by body-color matching Firecracker Red beadlock trim rings. Additional items from the JPP portfolio include a black fuel door, grab handles and all-weather floor mats.

Inside the Jeepster, a concept tubular roll cage replaces the sport bar and an additional 38-inch tire is secured with a custom in-cabin spare tire carrier. The interior meshes off-road functionality with premium features, including black Katzkin leather seats with Rubicon Red Jeep grille logos embroidered on the seatbacks, and Rubicon Red accent stitching on the seat bolsters. The instrument panel inserts are Firecracker Red to tie in with the exterior.

Relocation of the spare tire to the cabin provides an opportunity for another custom touch: concept storage packs mounted to the tailgate for transport of gear and supplies such as food, water and tools. The packs feature a split design to accommodate the rearview camera. A concept rock step — a unique combination of a rock rail/side step — completes the Jeepster.

Jeep J-Wagon
The Jeep J-Wagon concept is personalized with Jeep Performance Parts to create a premium-styled vehicle equally at home on the trails and urban cityscapes.

Starting as a Wrangler Sahara, the J-Wagon is painted a conceptual Warm Neutral Grey with warm-tinted glass, and complemented with subtle Brass Monkey touches throughout the exterior. The J-Wagon features a version of the JPP hood designed with a cutout kit to work with the available snorkel, an appropriate choice for the sealed-cabin style of the vehicle. The hood latch is Brass Monkey and further embellished with a black Willys logo.

For hardcore off-roaders, new 5-inch LED lights mount with JPP brackets to deliver commercial and military grade illumination. That trail detail is balanced with the street-appeal of a Mopar black grille pulled from a Wrangler Rubicon, and features body-color matching bezel trim. The premium Sahara bumper aligns with the vehicle’s color pattern via Brass Monkey fog lamp bezels. The J-Wagon concept also features 17-inch slot-design wheels that are also finished in Brass Monkey, a treatment chosen after receiving positive feedback in a sneak peek at the 2017 SEMA Show.

Black metal concept rock sliders guard the J-Wagon’s exterior, and a matching black metal concept JPP roof rack offers utility and functionality to fit any lifestyle. A black JPP fuel door and Orange Crush accents on the Jeep badge and tow hooks add style points. A spare 35-inch KM3 BF Goodrich tire mounts to the spare tire tailgate hinge reinforcement, and includes the JPP Center High-Mount Stop Light (CHMSL) light relocation kit.

Premium appointments are the story inside. Camel-color Katzkin leather seats give an elite feel and feature stark brown piping and plow-through inserts that mimic the triangulated grille design of the concept rock rails. Eye-level Brass Monkey trim and bezel accents on the HVAC vents, door handles and steering wheel harmonize the interior with the exterior.
