Unprecedented luxury onboard the Rolls Royce Phantom 2018

On every occasion and at every new release by the British Manufacturer Rolls-Royce, the same eternal question pops up: Do you think that Rolls-Royce Luxury vehicles are made to be self-driven or Chauffeur Driven?

So we took advantage of our presence in the United Arab Emirates, specifically in Dubai, to answer once and for all this eternal question.

Rolls Royce Phantom Luxury Cars Test Drive Arab Motor World (1)

Landing in Dubai for a short 8-hour trip and as a first timer in the city of dreams, I wanted to indulge myself in luxury and elegance but I didn’t know where to start. I initiated a call to my colleague Nabil and asked him to prepare a fast tour around the main landmarks of Dubai.

Stepping out of the hotel, I was immediately stunned with Super Cars and Luxury Cars gathered at the Hotel entrance, however, only one magnificent palatial mansion gleaming in front of my eyes in English white and elegant Tuscan Sun colors captured my attention. It was the 2018 Rolls Royce Phantom the icon of pure elegance and luxury.

Admiring this British Masterpiece moving slowly towards my direction, time froze for a moment as the handsome driver stepped out of the vehicle and gently with a hand gesture invited me in as he opens the doors with a poise. I was transported immediately to the Cinderella Fairytale waiting to step into her carriage for that unforgettable experience.

As the magical moment slips out, I just realized that the Rolls Royce Driver was none other than my colleague Nabil fulfilling his pledge to take me for an unforgettable drive around Dubai filled with Elegance and Luxury. Let the Journey begins.

The rear seat view in the Rolls Royce Phantom was beyond imagination, a fantastic experience that stimulates senses in every aspect. The comfort of the seats along with the luxury materials used from leather with tan and arctic white colors, Paldao veneer and other refined tissues simulate and even exceed any First-Class services. The 2018 Rolls Royce Phantom is luxury at its best.

Having said that, the Rolls Royce Phantom is designed to be the perfect luxury station for any businessmen or women as it comes heavily loaded with connectivity and controls guaranteed to save time and provide the perfect setup to conduct business efficiently.

For successful people, Business and leisure are a must to maintain creativity and excellence in life, the Rolls Royce Phantom is no stranger to that concept as the same connectivity and controls used for business can be implemented in leisure for an extraordinary entertaining experience. The Veneered Picnic Tables along with the folding screens and the astonishing controls of the full vehicle including the entertainment system provide you with a chance to unwind and relax in the rear seats in elegance and style. Taking it a step further, massage seats and reclining seating configuration as you admire the starlight headliner and rest your head on those RR Monogram hand-stitched on all Headrests after that long working day surely exceeds any 5-Star SPA experience.

Pampered in luxury onboard the Rolls Royce Phantom moving from one landmark to another around the busy streets of Dubai, I was intrigued to learn more about the other side of this luxurious mansion “The Driving Experience”. I turned to my colleague Nabil for that different point of view since he took the role of chauffeuring me for these few hours (in my opinion he didn’t seem to mind doing so, I mean he was driving a Rolls Royce Phantom).

The feedback from the cockpit was instant, the smile on his face says it all. The same look and feel of the rear seats are clearly reflected on the front seats as well. The luxury and elegance is laid out in every single detail of the Rolls Royce Phantom 2018 from Art Gallery to the famous Rolls Royce bespoke Watch…, I mean you can literally place your favorite painting or even diamond or Swarovski on the dashboard, our Phantom came with the Regatta Sails in Arctic White Gallery.

As for the driving sensation, the British chef d’oeuvre floats on the roads even on bumpy ones providing ultimate comfort for the driver as well as the passengers. the Rolls Royce comes fully loaded with countless driving assistance, safety and control systems guaranteeing a stress feel and enjoyable drive even on long trips. What captured Nabil’s attention was the newly developed suspension system for that extra comfort and the eight-speed ZF satellite connected gearbox. And Yes he affirmed: “Satellite connected gearbox” that actually receives information via satellite connectivity about the various types and elevation of terrains and automatically adjusts the torque and acceleration to eliminate any chance of discomfort during the journey.

“Now imagine the engine on the Rolls-Royce Phantom”, he added: “We are talking about a V 12-cylinder engine with a capacity of 6.75 liters Twin-Turbo Charged capable of generating 563 horsepower and a torque of 900 N/m @1700 RPM, the sound of that engine must be extremely loud”. In reality, I personally couldn’t hear the engine sound not even any road noise despite that the streets were busy and traffic surrounded us from every angle. Once more Nabil’s input cleared out the picture, the 2018 Rolls Royce Phantom has the best in class road noise reduction with improved glass isolation, 9 layers of paint and even specially designed tires filled with foam eliminating any chance of undesired noise trying to squeeze into the Phantom and disturbing your unwinding.

Lots of attention to details and features are built into this elegant palace, makes it really hard to answer that eternal question posed since the first Phantom was created in 1925.

So will you drive your Rolls Royce Phantom or have it chauffeur driven?

Volvo Cars Announces New Business Ambitions

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has announced new financial and operational ambitions that will position the company as a leading player in the global automotive business by the middle of the next decade.

On the operational side, it expects to generate half of all sales annually from fully electric cars, one third of all cars sold to be autonomous driving cars and half of all cars it offers to customers from its subscription service.

Volvo Cars expects these initiatives to transform its connection to its customer base, with the aim to build a total of over 5 million direct consumer relationships by the middle of the next decade, creating new sources of recurring revenue. This will also offer the company far greater potential to develop connected and other services for customers.

“Our customers’ expectations are changing rapidly. This means that Volvo Cars is also changing rapidly. These initiatives will help transform Volvo from being purely a car company to being a direct consumer services provider,” said Hakan Samuelsson, president and chief executive.

On the financial side, Volvo Cars aims to generate premium level profitability in line with other premium car makers, driven by increased sales and revenues across all three global sales regions, and a broader range of cars including sales to the new segment of autonomous ride-hailing companies.

The company’s improved financial performance will also be driven increasingly in the future by industrial synergies generated with its affiliated partner companies.

Volvo Cars expects to benefit from lower procurement costs, shared development costs and economies of scale alongside Polestar, its premium performance electric car brand, and LYNK & CO, the new global car brand in which Volvo Cars owns a 30 per cent stake.

“This paves the way for Volvo Cars to continue growing fast into the middle of the next decade,” said Mr Samuelsson. “The company has been transformed since 2010 into a global premium car company. Now it is time for this transformation to be turned into a period of sustained profitability in line with other premium brands.”

Volvo Cars achieved record profits and sales in 2017, with a 27.7 percent increase in operating profit and global sales of 571,577 cars. The results marked the company’s fourth consecutive year of record growth, underlining the transformation of Volvo’s finances and operations since being acquired by Geely Holdings. It has also expanded its global manufacturing footprint and completely renewed its model portfolio in recent years.

Aston Martin has brought a new dimension of race-inspired dynamism and performance to the DB11 family, with the introduction of the new DB11 AMR, launched today at the opening of the new Nürburgring-based AMR Performance Centre.

Replacing the outgoing V12-engined DB11 as the new flagship of the DB11 range, the DB11 AMR boasts greater power, increased performance, enhanced driving dynamics and a more characterful exhaust note, together with a suite of exterior and interior enhancements. Together they create a DB11 that offers a more vivid driving experience, yet preserves the maturity and effortless continent-crushing GT performance for which the original V12-engined DB11 is rightly renowned.

AMR – inspired by Aston Martin Racing’s successful endurance programme – pushes the envelope of performance for each model in Aston Martin’s range. Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017, the performance derivative has already delivered the previous-generation Vantage AMR and AMR Pro, with the highly-anticipated Rapide AMR forthcoming.

At the heart of the DB11 AMR is Aston Martin’s twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12. Now developing 630bhp, this gives the DB11 AMR an additional 30bhp compared with the outgoing DB11 V12, and 127bhp more than the V8-engined DB11. Torque remains unchanged at 700Nm.  A 0-62mph time of 3.7sec is an improvement of 0.2sec over the outgoing model while a top speed of 208mph makes the DB11 AMR one of the world’s swiftest GT cars and the fastest model in Aston Martin’s current series production range.

Striking the perfect balance between excitement and refinement, the handling of DB11 AMR has been refined by Aston Martin’s skilled dynamics team, led by Chief Engineer Matt Becker. Their work has delivered a greater sense of connection without harming the supple ride. Similarly, a new shift calibration for the transmission and a slightly more vocal exhaust note ensures the DB11 AMR expresses its character more explicitly when Sport mode is engaged.

Aston Martin President & Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andy Palmer, said of the DB11 AMR: “Since its initial launch back in 2016 the DB11 range has matured rapidly and intelligently, selling close to 4,200 V12 examples in that period. With the exceptional V8 Coupe and Volante we felt the V12 could reveal more of its sporting potential, while remaining the consummate GT. By applying a suite of carefully considered performance and styling enhancements the DB11 AMR is both faster – 208mph! – and more precise. It’s a combination that engages and cossets in equal measure to create a dynamic and seductive new flagship for the DB11 range, while consolidating the existing V12-powered DB11s as future collectibles”.

Visually the DB11 AMR is distinguished by a co-ordinated palette of exposed carbon fibre and gloss black detailing that unites the exterior and interior treatment. On the outside all brightwork has been given a monochrome treatment: dark headlight surrounds and smoked tail lamps complimented by dark front grille and tailpipes; gloss black roof, roof strake plus side sills and splitter offering a subtle contrast with the exposed weave of the carbon fibre hood blades and side strakes. The dark theme continues inside, with monotone leather and alcantara upholstery and a bold contrasting central lime stripe, while DB11 AMR is treated to a leather sports steering wheel as standard.

In addition to the extensive choice of standard colour and trim options, the DB11 AMR is available in three Designer Specifications, plus an exclusive AMR Signature Edition, which carries a striking Stirling Green and lime livery. With extensive carbon fibre detailing on the exterior, the inside is equally striking, with Dark Knight leather and Lime detailing, plus Satin Dark Chrome switchgear and Satin Carbon Fibre trim. Strictly limited to 100 units worldwide, the AMR Signature Edition is priced at £201,995.

Aston Martin’s accessories team have also provided a full suite of options for those looking to add further race-inspired styling to their DB11. These include a carbon-fibre engine cover, exhaust tips and a deployable spoiler that add further detail to the model’s exterior, while a new carbon-fibre sports steering wheel and paddeshifts bring that same AMR ethos within the cabin. For those heading off for weekend, expertly tailored luggage sets are available to match the car’s specification.

Visiting Monaco Top Cars Collection Museum

We had the privilege to visit the Monaco Top Cars Collection or as the locals would like to call it The Cars Collection of H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco during the month of April 2018.

As soon as you enter the premises you will be captivated by an array of Formula One cars that is breathtaking beyond compare, just a few meters away the trip back in time starts with amazing Rally cars that took part in Monaco Racing series. On top of that, you get the chance to enjoy the history of Monaco throughout its special edition cars and vehicles used by the Royal Family in multiple special occasions.

Before taking you on a journey through time, I would like to start with a brief history of this amazing collection.

At the end of the 1950s, the car enthusiast Prince Rainier III began collecting old cars. His collection gradually grew over the years as he acquired more and more models, and the garage at the Prince’s Palace soon emerged as too small to contain this collection of around a hundred stunning streamlined and sporty cars, from majestic bodywork to gleaming hoods and regal radiator grills!

In 1993, Prince Rainier III, therefore, decided to open his precious collection to the public by establishing the Top Cars Collection Museum located on the Terrasse de Fontvieille. The exhibition spans 5 000 m2 and is unique in the world, bringing together around a hundred-odd different cars, from a 1903 DE DION BOUTON to the 2013 LOTUS F1 via HISPANO SUIZA, ROLLS ROYCE, LINCOLN, FACEL VEGA, DELAGE, DELAHAYE, PACKARD, HUMBER, NAPIER, FERRARI, MASERATI, LAMBORGHINI, ALFA ROMEO, the LEXUS used for the royal wedding in 2011, and without forgetting the racing cars seen at the Monte Carlo Rally and the Formula 1s from the Monaco Grand Prix.

You really can’t get enough as you move from one car to another, it is a dream come true for car fanatics and car collectors and is a must visit if you ever pass by Monaco. We would like to share with you some stories we picked up as we move along the Automotive Journey of the Royal Family:

The Humber 350 cc a motorcycle from 1902 driven by Prince Albert I to go from Monaco to his castle of Marchais in Aisne.

Next down the memory lane was the story of Prince Rainier and his faithful mechanic next to the DEUTSCH BONNET before the start of the Tour of France Automobile in 1953.

Moving up the timeline, was The New 1959 Renault Floride that was received by Princess Grace from Renault manufacturer in the Courtyard of the Princely Palace.

Fast Forward to the 2nd of July 2011 with the wedding of HSH Prince Albert II and the Princess Charlène in the LEXUS Hybrid specially coated in Landaulet.

Other notable cars in the collection were there as well to stun you including the Bugatti Type 35 driven by William Grover-Williams that won the inaugural Monaco Grand Prix in 1929, and Sébastien Loeb’s Citroën DS3 WRC, which he drove to victory in the 2013 Monte Carlo Rally.

The cars collection of HSH the Prince of Monaco is a unique collection of exceptional vehicles combining luxury with rarity.

We had a blast while going on a time-travelling journey in the middle of these amazing machine that ranges from late 1800 till nowadays.

The Levante GranSport showcased on the stand fully embodies the racing heritage of every Maserati. The Quattroporte GranLusso redefines the concept of luxury. Exclusive Ermenegildo Zegna Silk interiors with open-pore Radica wood trim and wood-finished leather steering wheel are combined with additional comfort equipment such as power foot pedals, power rear and rear side sun blinds, four-zone automatic climate control and heated rear passenger seats.

The Ghibli is another Maserati highlight in Beijing. The premium sports sedan that perfectly combines class topping performance and elegance. On show there is a 350hp Ghibli GranLusso and a 430hp Ghibli S Q4 GranSport, both equipped with the mighty 3.0 litre Twin Turbo V6 petrol engine.

The Personalization Area

This new area showcases numerous options including five distinctive wheels, the iconic grille with carbon fibre material, and a variety of seat and steering wheel designs exclusive to the GranLusso and GranSport trims, as well as rich exterior colours, numerous interior leather options, and Alcantara upholstery.

“Luxury brands have always been pioneers in automobile personalization and Maserati continues to focus on personalization for enhancing our customer experience”, said Alberto Cavaggioni, Managing Director of Maserati China.

“China has a growing number of ‘connoisseurs’ seeking to express their personalities and tastes through exclusive cars. Faced with increasing demands for more personalized options, Maserati stands out for its unique luxury and sports heritage, thanks to which it is capable to offer premium and exclusive options that genuinely satisfy the most discerning customers.”

Unique Options for Great Performance

Maserati provides various wheel options in different designs and in sizes varying from 18 to 21 inches. Five distinctive rim options are showcased at the personalization area including the elegant 21” Titano forged alloy wheels.

The brake callipers are offered in a variety of colour options, including black, red, yellow and blue. Maserati uses six-piston fixed alloy Brembo callipers which provide remarkable braking performance.

The Radica wood trim, the leather steering wheel with wood insert and the carbon fibre sport steering wheel respectively underline the luxury and sportiness of Maserati. In homage to its sports heritage, Maserati also offers the racing-inspired carbon package, as well as elongated gearshift paddles in polished aluminium.

Both Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans are fitted with the new, performance enhancing Integrated Vehicle Control system (IVC), developed by Bosch in collaboration with Maserati. IVC is capable to prevent rather than simply correct loss of control, providing enhanced active safety and better dynamics in terms of driving performance and driver satisfaction.

Every Maserati is equipped with a powerful engine producing a uniquely sonorous sound. The optional Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound system is designed to provide an exhilarating auditory experience to the driver and passengers.

As for the interior, Maserati offers ventilated and power-adjustable seats in various premium Italian leather options, which further enhance the refinement and comfort of the cabin. Maserati is the only brand in the world to offer a tailor-made Ermenegildo Zegna Silk interior, which combines fine-grain leather with 100% natural-fibre Zegna mulberry silk, accomplishing extraordinary design and skilled craftsmanship.

Additionally, Maserati also offers a variety of exterior colours, including the high-end Tricoat and Mica paintwork. Instead of metal powder coating, the latter option uses mica plates, which reveal different hues and shades under different lighting conditions.

A new variant of the compact-class family – in the guise of the A-Class L Saloon – will already be celebrating its premiere at Auto China (25 April to 4 May 2018) in Beijing. The notchback model being presented there features a 6 cm longer wheelbase (2789 instead of 2729 mm) and is a variant developed solely for the Chinese market. This A-Class model is being produced exclusively at Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd (BBAC), a joint venture between Daimler and its Chinese partner BAIC Motor. The market launch in China is scheduled for the second half of 2018. A version of the saloon tailored to the needs of customers outside China will likewise launch in the second half of the year.

With the latest design language characterised by clear structures and sensual surfaces, the high level of safety thanks to the innovative driving assistance systems featuring S-Class functions and the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, the Chinese A-Class L Saloon boasts all of the virtues of the new compact-class family from Mercedes-Benz. One highlight is the intelligent voice control of the MBUX system with natural speech recognition: it is proficient in various Chinese dialects, including Sichuanese and Cantonese.

In 2017 China was once again the largest sales market for Mercedes-Benz. Customers in the Middle Kingdom took delivery of around 590,000 vehicles last year, more than ever in a single year (+25.9%). In total, around 430,000 units were produced locally in 2017, which corresponds to more than two-thirds of the total sales volume in China.

More than six million compact models have already been delivered to customers in around 170 markets. Following the great success of the last compact-class generation – Mercedes-Benz sold more than 620,000 compact vehicles globally in 2017 alone – currently the company is gradually extending the new compact-car family to eight members. The A-Class Hatchback and the Chinese variant of the A-Class Saloon are the first two representatives of the new generation.

About the Chinese A-Class L Saloon
The A-Class L Saloon also reflects the purist, surface-accentuating design of the latest Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of Sensual Purity. The compact saloon has very short overhangs at front and rear, which, in combination with the side feature line, reinforces the sporty image. As on the hatchback model, the front end design looks very progressive. Contributing to this impression are the low, drawn-out bonnet, flat headlamps with chrome elements, and torch-like daytime driving lights – plus the diamond radiator grille with single louvre, chrome pins, and central star. There is a choice of Sedan and Sport Sedan versions, with the latter featuring powerdomes on the bonnet.

The greenhouse, which sits far back, and the compact rear end emphasise the sportiness of the vehicle. The wheels (in sizes 16 to 19 inches) fit flush in the wheel arches, which, like the strongly pronounced shoulders in the rear area, gives the vehicle a square stance on the road.

The two-piece tail lights emphasise the width. The reflectors have been repositioned lower down in the bumper to allow the tail lights to benefit from a particularly flat design. Rose gold is an exclusive paint finish planned for the Chinese market.

As in the hatchback model, the interior is a completely new departure, revolutionising the compact class from the inside with a new feeling of spaciousness. The interior architecture along with the displays and controls is an avant-garde USP in this segment. For the first time a cowl above the cockpit has been completely dispensed with. As a result, the wing-shaped main body of the dashboard with its trim level extends from one front door to the other with no visual discontinuity.

Below this main body is a low-lying section, the so-called wing. The wing appears to float, as there are no connections or shape transitions to the surrounding area. The ambience lighting with up to 64 colours reinforces this effect and is a new interior experience also for Chinese customers. The wing also forms the basis for the turbine-look air vents, which are embedded in trim, and the completely free-standing widescreen display.

On board is the MBUX multimedia system – Mercedes-Benz User Experience – with unique learning abilities thanks to artificial intelligence. Of course, the popular WeChatMyCar app is integrated. MBUX makes it possible for the first time for two or more users to connect simultaneously to the system. The intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition is proficient in various Chinese dialects, including Sichuanese and Cantonese. Mercedes-Benz is the world’s first automotive manufacturer to provide navigation display featuring augmented reality technology on the Chinese market.

When developing the Chinese A-Class L Saloon (length/width/height: 4609/1796/1460 mm) a focal point was the kneeroom for rear passengers. As a result, at 2789 mm, the wheelbase is 60 mm longer than in the hatchback model (2729 mm). The boot has a capacity of 420 litres.

At the market launch, the A-Class L Saloon will be available in China with the state-of-the-art all-aluminium four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.33 litres with power outputs of 100 and 120 kW (with cylinder shut-off); following later will be the 2-litre four-cylinder engine with CONICSHAPE trumpet honing and CAMTRONIC variable valve timing. In China, the latter engine has an output of 140 kW. The 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission comes as standard.

Of course on the Chinese market the A-Class L Saloon also boasts the very latest driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support, giving it the highest level of active safety in this segment with functions adopted from the S-Class.

AGMC, the authorised dealer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, took home two prestigious awards at this year’s Rolls-Royce Regional Dealership Conference and Awards.

AGMC was presented with the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy Award for Best Bespoke Dealer’ while the ‘Certificate for Excellence in PR’ was presented to AGMC’s Natalija Norikova.

AGMC was awarded the highly-coveted ‘Best Bespoke Dealer’ prize which highlights its excellent Bespoke performance throughout 2017 and in particular the creation of two unique Rolls-Royce commissions it created last year – the Spirit of Calligraphy Rolls-Royce Ghost and the Rolls-Royce Dawn Orchid Yellow.

Unveiled at last year’s Dubai International Motor Show, the Spirit of Calligraphy features the iconic words of Sir Henry Royce – “Take the best that exists and make it better. When it does not exist, design it” – written in Arabic and shaped into the Rolls-Royce’s famous flying mascot, the Spirit of Ecstasy, by renowned calligrapher Khalid Al Saaei.

The car was hand-built at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England, after its design was conceptualized by the brand experts at AGMC.

The Rolls-Royce Dawn Orchid Yellow is one of AGMC’s most striking commissions. Featuring a gold Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy motif, the convertible coupe’s yellow body paintwork is matched with a black hood to create an eye-catching colour scheme. The interior features the gold Spirit of Ecstasy inlayed on Piano Black above the glove box while the four luxurious seats are covered in Anthracite and Golden Sand leather with the Rolls-Royce monogram featured in all four headrests.

Mamdouh Khairallah, General Manager of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars AGMC said: “Winning the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy Award for Best Bespoke Dealer’ at this year’s Rolls-Royce Regional Dealership Conference is a wonderful achievement for AGMC.

“This award means a great deal to everyone at AGMC as it shows the great effort, commitment and talent that went into creating these two stunning Rolls-Royces.

“Both cars are works of art. The Spirit of Calligraphy seamlessly combines the history and tradition of Rolls-Royce with the heritage and culture of the region, while the Dawn Orchid Yellow demonstrates the marque’s ability to create a brave, new, and modern vision of the future.

“Everyone at AGMC is equally as proud of Natalija Norikova, who has consistently performed her duties with exceptional skill. Her award of ‘Certificate for Excellence in PR’ is a fitting reward for her dedicated and hard work.”

Bentley Veneer Hunters: Sustainable, Unique, Exquisite

Bentley recently added its first new veneer in five years – Liquid Amber – to its collection. This is the luxury British brand’s seventh exclusive veneer, encapsulating its quest for the finest materials and catering to discerning customers in the Middle East and worldwide.

The fact that new veneers are an extremely rare occurrence in Bentley interiors is due to the extraordinary lengths that the brand’s team of expert veneer hunters go to in order to source the finest materials in the world.

Watch the new film documenting the journey the veneer hunters take to bring sustainable, unique and exquisite veneers to Bentley customers below

Liquid Amber: A Stunning Contemporary Veneer

Liquid Amber is sourced from the American Red Gum – or American Sweet Gum tree – which grows along the rich, moist soils of the Mississippi wetlands in the south-eastern states of America.

The tree’s resin is called Liquid Amber – a reference to its perfumed scent. Bentley sources only the highest quality trees, and harvests the veneer just twice a year due to restricted access across the wetlands on which it grows.

The wood undergoes a natural smoking process, which takes several weeks, to give it a deep, rich brown lustre while maintaining the warm, red hue. The Liquid Amber veneer is then transported 4,500 miles back to the team of experts in the Bentley woodshop in Crewe, where it is examined alongside the six other carefully chosen veneers available exclusively to Bentley customers.

In Pursuit of Perfection – Sourcing the Finest Materials

The seven veneers Bentley offers, including eucalyptus and olive ash, are sourced by Bentley’s own veneer hunters, from countries as far apart as Canada and China.

Bentley only ever uses the finest materials, sourced from the very best species, for its cars. For example, it can take a full week to review 20,000 square metres of walnut material for the burr walnut veneer.

Bentley typically rejects between 30 and 70 percent of veneers offered and all materials must have a high-burr density, minimal sapwood and feature no bark growth or structural defects.

Each raw veneer is cut to a precise 0.6 mm layer, and each bundle of raw veneers must pass rigorous Bentley tests for stability in UV light and consistency from tree to tree. This process takes at least 18 months before the veneer is placed into a car.

Beyond Veneer

Another new material that provides an individual statement of luxury is Bentley’s stone veneer. This innovative interior finish makes a luxurious, contemporary feature of a natural product formed over 200 million years.

The slate and quartzite stone is sustainably sourced from hand-selected quarries in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, India – a nation with an ancient and rich culture of stone masonry.

The sections of stone are split from larger pieces and cured using glass fibre and a bespoke resin. Finally, they are shaped and finished by hand by Bentley’s world-renowned Mulliner coachbuilding team at the company’s headquarters in Crewe, England.
