Geneva Motor Show 2018 That’s a Wrap

The 88th International Motor Show closed its door on Sunday night 18th of March after hosting more than 660,000 visitors. The media coverage of more than 10,680 media representatives were present during the two press days confirmed an exceptional position of the Geneva Motor Show as a global communication platform.

“We are very satisfied with this result in view of the unattractive economic climate and the media and political atmosphere that is often hostile to cars” commented Maurice Turrettini, President of the Geneva Motor Show.

Prior to this the Volvo XC40 was awarded the Car of the Year 2018 prize by a jury of professional journalists.

The throngs of visitors to the red-carpeted halls of the Geneva International Motor Show were unanimous in their view: the relocation of certain stands (notably Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land rover) had contributed to better circulation and a more comfortable environment for their visit.

In a nutshell, Geneva Motor Show had 180 exhibitors, more than 110 World and European Premiers, 70 press conferences, 900 models and more. Among these models, visitors got the chance to discover numerous powerful “supercars” based on electric propulsion (Techrules, Polestar, Lvchi), more accessible models plus all of the energy efficient vehicles in the show, the service station of tomorrow which allows one to fill their vehicle with hydrogen, cars that can fly (Pal-V, Italdesign), and the “Back to the Future” exhibition containing the concept cars presented at the Geneva International Motor Show over the last dozens of years which were fascinating to see again in today’s light!

The 89th International Motor Show will be held from March 7 to 17, 2019.

Nissan 370Zki brings new meaning to winter sports

Nissan is getting into the winter sports spirit this month with a specially constructed, one-off 370Z Roadster “snowmobile.” Dubbed the “370Zki” – pronounced “370-Ski” – the 332-horsepower 370Z Roadster is ready to tackle ski slopes and backwoods trails alike with its front skis and rear snow tracks replacing the iconic sports car’s usual high-performance tires. The Nissan 370Zki makes its world debut this week at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show.

“The Nissan 370Zki continues our recent tradition of bringing imaginative winter vehicle concepts to the Chicago Auto Show. With the Nissan Z’s long heritage of motorsports competition, the 370Zki seemed like a natural combination,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “Prior to its debut here in Chicago, we put the 370Zki through its paces on the slopes in Wyoming where its performance heritage really came through.”

Transforming the factory stock 370Z Roadster to the snow track-carving 370Zki presented a few understandable obstacles. To make room for the rear DOMINATOR® Tracks from American Track Truck, Inc., the entire drivetrain was first removed from the 370Z Roadster. Then a custom lift kit was designed and engineered, lifting the vehicle three inches from the normal height. Next came fabrication of custom mountings for the rear suspension springs and three-inch custom spacers to mount the snow tracks to the wheel hubs. The factory brakes were retained but the brake lines had to be rerouted and the exhaust system was modified to fit under the vehicle. The rear wheel wells were also modified for clearance of the four-foot-long snow tracks.
In front, the suspension was modified to accommodate the new ride height, and adaptors were made to allow the appropriate travel and rotation for the front skis – which were also supplied by American Track Truck, Inc. – and mounted with spacers to the stock wheel hubs. The engine and transmission also had to be custom-mounted and a front skid plate fabricated to prevent damage during snow excursions.
By comparison, the cosmetic part of the conversion was relatively easy. The custom body wrap was created and applied by Icon Image Graphics and the headlights were tinted yellow to resemble ski goggles.

“Nissan’s full range of winter adventure-ready vehicles will be on display throughout the Chicago Auto Show, from our best-selling Rogue AWD to the powerful TITAN 4×4 and TITAN XD 4×4 lineups,” said Bunce. It’s also fun to shake things up with something totally unexpected once in a while – and that’s the Nissan 370Zki.”

Most notably, GAC Motor will debut the GA4, an all-new signature sedan at 2018 NAIAS. We believe that entering the North American market will drive GAC Motor to improve its R&D, product quality, brand influence and business management, while enabling us to integrate global resources in developed markets and further facilitate internationalization.”

Spending the day with Keskin Wheels and Syron Tires at ESSEN Motor Show 2017

We got the chance to spend the day at Keskin Wheels and Syron Tires stand during the last Essen Motor Show event 2017.

During our visit, we got the chance to have fun, laugh, interact with the staff, talk to drifting and motorsport experts from Syron motorsport team and most importantly felt the engagement and the interest of car tuners in their brands.

It was a snowy day in Essen and very cold outside the Messe Essen however on the inside the warmth welcome of the Keskin Wheels and Syron tires made the balance, the day started with a tour around the Keskin Wheels’ new collection and may I say what a beautiful collection I personally loved the Hurricane design on Keskin wheels I think it will look amazingly beautiful on any European vehicle.

As for Syron Tires, we got the chance to sit with the drifting couple Corinna and Alexandre Graff; Alex is the head of motorsport team at Syron tires, holder of several Guinness World Records in drifting and one of Germany’s top drifter, who explained to us about their experience with Syron tires and how they benefit from the German engineered tire technology whether in car control or controlled drifting.

Later that day, we were joined by two gorgeous models that literally set the stand on fire. The models were posing on the cars on display at Keskin and Syron stand and give the audience a sense of beauty and the beast. And if you think this was fun wait till you get a visit from the killer in scream movies that tried to steal the Keskin Wheels and Syron tires and was faced by forceful resistance from the team and the fans.

We would like to thank the Keskin and Syron team for having us that day, it was a blast both on the entertaining level and on the technology and German engineering knowledge.

We would like to invite our fans and readers to check them out as I believe it will create a revolution in the world of wheels and tires.

50th Essen Motor Show Crosses the Finishing Line Successfully

That was a worthy anniversary: More than 500 exhibitors and 356.500 visitors celebrated the 50th Essen Motor Show from December 1 to 10 – despite the onset of winter on the second weekend. It was colourful, full and diverse at Messe Essen. Exhibitors and fans showed that they were more than satisfied. A large number of automobile manufacturers and tuners used the performance festival for the emotional presentation of their performance vehicles, including a lot of innovations and premieres.

Furthermore, several special shows on the occasion of 50 Years of Mercedes-AMG and 50 Years of Super Sports Cars aroused the enthusiasm of the fans. The sustainably driven vehicles and studies also attracted increased attention.

“The positive impression of the 50th Essen Motor Show will linger for a long time to come. We have received a fantastic response, not only from exhibitors but also from visitors. We are taking this momentum with us,” Oliver P. Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen, summarised the good mood.

The partners of the Essen Motor Show also celebrated anniversaries ending in zeros: The General German Automobile Club (ADAC) has been the ideal sponsor of the performance festival for 30 years and the Association of Automobile Tuners (VDAT) celebrated its 30th birthday at the fair.

51 exhibitors from the association were represented at the Essen Motor Show – 15 percent more than the average in the past years. The well-known names included Abt, Brabus, G-Power and Techart.

The happenings at the fair were characterised by the togetherness of the living worlds relating to automobiles: Tuners talked shop with vintage vehicle owners and fathers and sons encountered motorsportsmen and motorsportswomen – the 50th Essen Motor Show connected people who rarely get together otherwise.

At the fair, they were able to convince themselves about the latest developments in tuning: The trends included the upgrading of the interior, e.g. with roll bars, sports seats, carbon parts and LED lighting.

Furthermore, several fashion labels and tuning forges such as JP Performance, Sidney Industries and Simon Motorsport showed that tuning is a lifestyle, too.

The preparations are in full swing: The next Essen Motor Show will be open at Messe Essen from December 1 to 9, 2018 (Preview Day: November 30).
