Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI)

The Huracán EVO features new Lamborghini rear-wheel steering and a torque vectoring system working on the four wheels, while at the heart of the car is the new feature of Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI): a Central Processing Unit that controls every aspect of the car’s dynamic behaviour, fully integrating all of the car’s dynamic systems and set-up to anticipate the next move and needs of the driver, interpreting this into perfect driving dynamics.

Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI), a comprehensive set of accelerators and gyroscope sensors placed at the car’s center of gravity, has been enhanced to version 2.0. With improved precision, it monitors in real-time the dynamic vehicle attitude regarding lateral, longitudinal and vertical accelerations, as well as roll, pitch and yaw rate. The magneto rheological suspension, upgraded to version 2.0, instantaneously adapts the damping following inputs from the LPI. A new advanced traction control system together with enhanced all-wheel drive and torque vectoring, allows traction to be directed to a single wheel as required.

Enhanced Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS), able to provide higher responsiveness in corners while requiring the lowest steering angles, is now coupled with rear-wheel steering in order to ensure agility at low speed, as well as maximum stability in high-speed cornering and under braking in the most severe conditions.

The unique combination of all these systems is governed by Lamborghini’s LDVI to create a super-agile and responsive car with unparalleled level of control. Processing data in real time, the Huracán EVO recognizes the driver’s intentions through steering wheel, brake and accelerator pedal inputs, engaged gear and the driving modes selected via ANIMA controller: STRADA, SPORT or CORSA.

External conditions are determined through active suspension and all-wheel drive grip estimation function. All of this information is analysed and processed by LDVI, which turns them into precise inputs for the vehicle dynamic system. A ‘feed forward logic’ is implemented via the dynamic controller, which means the car doesn’t just react, but predicts the best driving set-up for the next moment.

In STRADA, the Huracán EVO is agile and capable for driving enjoyment, whereas in SPORT it becomes playful, intuitive and extremely exciting. In CORSA the Huracán EVO is sharp, reactive and exhilarating for the most extreme driving environments, such as racetracks.

Design – aerodynamic superiority

The distinctive design defines the aerodynamic superiority and enhanced driving dynamics of the Huracán EVO. A new front bumper gives the car a low, assertive personality, but more importantly assures aerodynamic efficiency via the front splitter with integrated wing. The enlarged air intakes feature the Ypsilon shape that is inherent in Lamborghini design DNA.

The side profile of the Huracán EVO is articulately dynamic, featuring Lamborghini’s hexagon design references in the windows, the new wheel design and around the new side air intakes.

It is at the rear of the car that the Huracán EVO most distinctively evokes the power and dynamism that lies within. Reflecting the wide, open, naked rear seen in its race-car brother, the twin outlets of the new sports exhaust system are positioned high up in the car’s rear bumper. At the upper end of the tail an integrated, slotted spoiler provides enhanced air flow, clearly asserting the car’s aerodynamic abilities.

The Huracán EVO’s aero competency continues with the underbody, which has been shaped to maximize aerodynamic efficiency: the new integrated aerodynamic styling of the Huracán EVO improves downforce and aerodynamic efficiency more than five times over the first generation Huracán.

The presence and purpose of the Huracán EVO resonates throughout its design, but also in the notes from its exhaust, with a super exhaust sound reflecting the increased power and dynamic abilities of this latest Lamborghini.

Connectivity

A new 8.4” HMI capacitive touchscreen, located in the centre console just above the start button, puts connectivity at the driver’s fingertips, with multi-finger gesture control. Governing car functions including seats, climate and the status of the LDVI system in real-time it also puts all infotainment, such as Apple CarPlay with smartphone integration, at the cabin occupants’ disposal. A multimedia system incorporates connected navigation and entertainment including web radio and video player. The intuitive interface allows voice commands and puts the driver in touch with Siri.

An optional dual-camera telemetry system is also offered via the touchscreen, allowing advanced telemetry recording and analysis. An integrated high-capacity hard disk is also available.

Color/Trim and Lamborghini Ad Personam

The Huracán EVO is presented in Arancio Xanto, an iconic new Lamborghini four-layer color. New 20” Aesir rims, dedicated to the EVO, are complemented by Pirelli P Zero tires.

Inside, the Huracán EVO is a luxurious driver’s car. The interior features a dedicated new EVO trim in Alcantara and leather mix, with Arancio Dryope details matching the body tone.

The new sporty and elegant trim, features a number of bi-color and trim options as well as a highly sportive Alcantara option. Lightweight materials such as Carbon Forged Composites and Lamborghini’s patented Carbon Skin are available on request, and are highlighted by the new customisable ambient lights feature within the cabin.

Both the exterior and interior of the Huracán EVO are designed to maximise the specification possibilities, with several new options such as a wide range of Style Packs in shiny black and body color as well as Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program, which offers virtually limitless opportunity for owners to customise their Lamborghini.

DB11 AMR – NEW PERFORMANCE FLAGSHIP OF THE DB11 RANGE

Aston Martin has brought a new dimension of race-inspired dynamism and performance to the DB11 family, with the introduction of the new DB11 AMR, launched today at the opening of the new Nürburgring-based AMR Performance Centre.

Replacing the outgoing V12-engined DB11 as the new flagship of the DB11 range, the DB11 AMR boasts greater power, increased performance, enhanced driving dynamics and a more characterful exhaust note, together with a suite of exterior and interior enhancements. Together they create a DB11 that offers a more vivid driving experience, yet preserves the maturity and effortless continent-crushing GT performance for which the original V12-engined DB11 is rightly renowned.

AMR – inspired by Aston Martin Racing’s successful endurance programme – pushes the envelope of performance for each model in Aston Martin’s range. Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017, the performance derivative has already delivered the previous-generation Vantage AMR and AMR Pro, with the highly-anticipated Rapide AMR forthcoming.

At the heart of the DB11 AMR is Aston Martin’s twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12. Now developing 630bhp, this gives the DB11 AMR an additional 30bhp compared with the outgoing DB11 V12, and 127bhp more than the V8-engined DB11. Torque remains unchanged at 700Nm.  A 0-62mph time of 3.7sec is an improvement of 0.2sec over the outgoing model while a top speed of 208mph makes the DB11 AMR one of the world’s swiftest GT cars and the fastest model in Aston Martin’s current series production range.

Striking the perfect balance between excitement and refinement, the handling of DB11 AMR has been refined by Aston Martin’s skilled dynamics team, led by Chief Engineer Matt Becker. Their work has delivered a greater sense of connection without harming the supple ride. Similarly, a new shift calibration for the transmission and a slightly more vocal exhaust note ensures the DB11 AMR expresses its character more explicitly when Sport mode is engaged.

Aston Martin President & Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andy Palmer, said of the DB11 AMR: “Since its initial launch back in 2016 the DB11 range has matured rapidly and intelligently, selling close to 4,200 V12 examples in that period. With the exceptional V8 Coupe and Volante we felt the V12 could reveal more of its sporting potential, while remaining the consummate GT. By applying a suite of carefully considered performance and styling enhancements the DB11 AMR is both faster – 208mph! – and more precise. It’s a combination that engages and cossets in equal measure to create a dynamic and seductive new flagship for the DB11 range, while consolidating the existing V12-powered DB11s as future collectibles”.

Visually the DB11 AMR is distinguished by a co-ordinated palette of exposed carbon fibre and gloss black detailing that unites the exterior and interior treatment. On the outside all brightwork has been given a monochrome treatment: dark headlight surrounds and smoked tail lamps complimented by dark front grille and tailpipes; gloss black roof, roof strake plus side sills and splitter offering a subtle contrast with the exposed weave of the carbon fibre hood blades and side strakes. The dark theme continues inside, with monotone leather and alcantara upholstery and a bold contrasting central lime stripe, while DB11 AMR is treated to a leather sports steering wheel as standard.

In addition to the extensive choice of standard colour and trim options, the DB11 AMR is available in three Designer Specifications, plus an exclusive AMR Signature Edition, which carries a striking Stirling Green and lime livery. With extensive carbon fibre detailing on the exterior, the inside is equally striking, with Dark Knight leather and Lime detailing, plus Satin Dark Chrome switchgear and Satin Carbon Fibre trim. Strictly limited to 100 units worldwide, the AMR Signature Edition is priced at £201,995.

Aston Martin’s accessories team have also provided a full suite of options for those looking to add further race-inspired styling to their DB11. These include a carbon-fibre engine cover, exhaust tips and a deployable spoiler that add further detail to the model’s exterior, while a new carbon-fibre sports steering wheel and paddeshifts bring that same AMR ethos within the cabin. For those heading off for weekend, expertly tailored luggage sets are available to match the car’s specification.

A unique Beetle – ABT Individual presents one-of-a-kind vehicle

With 350,000 species, beetles are the worldwide largest order of insects. ABT Sportsline from Germany also ensures almost unlimited variety when it comes to the automotive counterpart – the Volkswagen Beetle. And not only there: on request, the dedicated ABT Individual department can turn any car from the Volkswagen and Audi Group into a “solitaire”. “We can offer anyone who is looking for a unique car away from the mainstream a one-of-a-kind solution that cannot be provided with tuning from a catalog,” explains CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt. It is not just about differentiation, but also about implementing personal color and material preferences which were not intended by the original car designers. After all, it is unavoidable to limit the range for standard products at a certain point. “A car from ABT Individual is obvious at first glance – or not,” Abt continues: “Some customers want cars where everyone immediately reaches for their smartphone camera when they see it. Others again enjoy details that nobody else will notice. Our customers have very different characters, which makes this type of project so interesting.”

One of the latest projects – a VW Beetle convertible – was designed and rebuilt for the managing director of a medium-size company. The car has a full film wrap in a subdued shade of bronze and is elegantly understated. The different nature becomes obvious primarily in the “undertones”, such as brand logos painted black. Another distinctive detail are the 19” wheels of type ABT ER-C which ABT Individual specially painted in a silver-bullet shade. As a standard, the attractive wheel for the Beetle is supplied only in gun-metal or matt black. Thanks to the open design, the 6-piston brake calipers and the 370 x 35 mm brake discs of the
ABT sport brake system are well visible on the front axle. The ABT Power boost provides an impressive 290 HP (213 kW) where the production model only has 220 HP (162 kW). At the same time, the maximum torque increased to 430 Nm – 80 Nm more than the series engine can provide.

But the true highlights of the conversion only become evident when sitting in the car or when the top is down: the extensive saddler’s craft work in the interior. Where the original is dominated by dark plastic, this model is a dream in leather and carbon. ABT used elegant leather to cover the dashboard, its substructure, the console for the auxiliary instruments and the door center parts including the arm rests from front to rear. Finest leather also adorns the door handles, the inside of the roof pillars, the sun blinds and entrance areas as well as the column, wheel and airbag of the steering wheel assembly. To satisfy the sporty character of this unique beetle, the ABT Individual team also covered all black plastic panels on the interior with real carbon. Overall, all conversions are of the highest grade. Only the suspension is “low” – thanks to carefully set up ABT suspension springs. The leading tuner for Volkswagen and Audi shows that, despite the size of the company, detail work can be very individual.

New 911 GT3 RS sets a lap time of 6:56.4 minutes through the ‘Green Hell’

On April 16 the Porsche 911 GT3 RS set another benchmark for road-approved sports cars at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in Germany: Porsche works race driver Kévin Estre set a lap time in 6:56.4 minutes with the 520 hp GT3 RS. The Frenchman’s lap time was 24 seconds faster than the best time achieved with the previous GT3 RS model. Porsche development driver Lars Kern was sharing driving duties with Estre. Following the 918 Spyder and the 911 GT2 RS, the new GT3 RS is the third production Porsche sports car with a notarised lap time of less than seven minutes on the world’s most demanding race track, known as the ‘Green Hell’. As is customary for record drives, the time was measured around the 20.6-kilometre lap.

Frank Steffen Walliser, Vice President Motorsport and GT Cars, commented; “No other Porsche model gets as close to racing as the new GT3 RS. Many innovative ideas from top-level motorsport were transferred; for example, from the 911 GT3 R. This is what our philosophy for GT models is about: Highest technology must be fascinating but tangible. In this regard there is no harder test for our ideas than the Nordschleife.”

Andreas Preuninger, Director GT Model Line, added; “All four lap times of both drivers were below seven minutes and only tenths of a second apart. This proves not only the outstanding power of the GT3 RS, but also its extraordinary driveability at the limit. A perfectly composed overall system allows for highly dynamic performance even with a relatively modest engine power. For a driver, each of the car’s thousands of parts have to feel like one – that’s an unbeatable strength of the GT3 RS. And what especially delights me is how much fun Lars and Kévin had when driving that car.”

29-year old Estre began the record lap at 11:40 am in ideal conditions, with 14 degree Celsius ambient and 18 degree Celsius track temperature. “This lap was a sensational experience for me”, he revealed afterwards. “Through the fast corners and on the brakes in particular, the GT3 RS is unbelievably close to our racing car GT3 R. This is also thanks to the new generation of tyres for road going sports cars. I like the engine of the GT3 RS a lot. Up to 9,000 revs per minute from a six-cylinder engine just feels fantastic. The sound is a dream and the torque is massive.”

Since 2016 Kévin Estre belongs to the squad of Porsche works drivers. He competes with the Porsche 911 RSR in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) that includes the Le Mans 24-Hours. In the ADAC GT Masters he races the 911 GT3 R.

At the Nürburgring the 911 GT3 RS was equipped with the latest generation of Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. Optimised especially for track day use, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R is fully compliant with relevant EU and US law. The tyre (265/35 ZR 20 front and 325/30 ZR 21 rear) can soon be ordered at every Porsche Centre and selected dealers or tyre fitters. Its approved fitments include 911 GT3 RS and 911 GT2 RS.

The 911 GT3 RS with motorsport-bred chassis and 383-kW (520-hp), four-litre, high- speed naturally aspirated engine had its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in early March this year. The high-performance sports car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 312 km/h.

Slender and muscular – ABT Audi Q5 and SQ5 “slim body” with up to 425 HP

After the wide body version presented at the Geneva Motor Show, the ABT Audi Q5 and SQ5 are now also available with the ABT Aero Package Slim Body. Depending on the production engine, a lot more horsepower are also possible – for example 425 HP (313 kW) for the SQ5. Long live sports!

“The kit includes a sporty, elegant front skirt, dynamic door strip attachments and an imposing rear skirt set, including the sonorous ABT Rear Muffler with 102 mm carbon tailpipes for the SQ5 or with black stainless-steel tailpipes for the Q5,” explains CEO
Hans-Jürgen Abt
: “In contrast to the production version with just two chrome brackets, this finally makes the exhaust visible again.” Owners of a Q5 or SQ5 can literally “top up” with a particularly attractive ABT Rear Wing. While the alternative wide body version offers a little more space in the wheel housings, the 20 and 21 inch wheels available for this version are certainly not frail either: Customers can choose between the models DR in gun-metal
(21 inch) oder mystic black (20/21 inch) as well as ER-C (20 inch) in matt black and
FR (21 inch) in mystic black. Optionally, ABT Coilover Suspension Springs are used to provide an even more dynamic handling and a variable lowering from 35 to 60 mm.

To ensure that the suspension does not get bored with the production engine, the leading tuner for cars from the Audi and Volkswagen Group can also supply a power boost on request. ABT Sportsline takes the three-liter turbo gasoline engine in the SQ5 from originally 354 HP (260 kW) to a fiery 425 HP (313 kW) and a torque increase of 10% to 550 Nm. The power boost compared to the production car is provided by the specially developed ABT Engine Control (AEC) unit with software which is specially adjusted to the respective vehicle model. The AEC continuously adjusts more than 25 different parameters and communicates directly with the original engine control unit. Optimum use of power and maximum protection for the engine at the same time are the result. The AEC is also available for a large range of other engines. The top diesel of the Q5 with 286 HP (210 kW), for example, grows to 330 HP (243 kW), with the maximum torque increasing from 620 Nm to 670 Nm. Expert certificate and warranty are always included.

On request, the engine can be started in style with the ABT Start-Stop-Switch-Cap. An ABT Shift Know Cover from real carbon makes shifting gears a pleasure. And when the time comes to exit the car, the ABT Integrated Entrance Lights bid a silent goodbye!

Cadillac Introduces First-Ever CT6 V-Sport

Cadillac-2019-CT6-V-Sport-Arab-Motor-World-01

Performance model of its top-of-range sedan. The introduction of the high-performance variant coincides with a makeover of the entire CT6 lineup that incorporates the newest iteration of Cadillac’s design language featured on the Escala Concept. The Cadillac V-Sport portfolio currently includes the CTS V-Sport and the XTS V-Sport.

“Cadillac V-Sport is the embodiment of our passion to deliver an exhilarating driving experience without compromises,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “The all-new CT6 V-Sport provides the perfect balance of performance and luxurious refinement.”

The CT6 V-Sport boasts an all-new Cadillac 4.2L Twin Turbo V8 Cadillac-estimated at 550 horsepower (410 kW) and stunning 627 lb-ft of torque (850 Nm) that elevates the CT6’s performance to a new plateau and offers drivers an unparalleled experience behind the wheel. The engine is a clean-sheet design and introduces unique design elements developed to balance performance and efficiency with compact, mass-efficient packaging.

At the center of the Cadillac Twin Turbo V8 is a “hot V” configuration that transposes the conventional layout of the cylinder heads’ intake and exhaust systems to mount the turbochargers at the top of the engine — in the valley between the heads — to virtually eliminate turbo lag and reduce the engine’s overall packaging size.

“With the introduction of the all-new CT6 V-Sport, Cadillac begins a new chapter in its performance legacy with the introduction of the brand’s first-ever twin-turbo V-8 engine,” added de Nysschen. “It is the centerpiece of the new CT6 V-Sport, an engaging sport sedan infused with DNA of Cadillac’s world-renowned and championship-winning motorsports program.”

The new Cadillac Twin Turbo V-8 is matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Its broad, 7.39 overall gear ratio spread enhances off-the-line performance and contributes to reduced engine speed on the highway for refinement and efficiency. Narrow steps between the gear ratios also help the engine maintain the optimal speed for maximum power at almost all vehicle speeds.

OPTIMIZED FOR PERFORMANCE

The first-ever Cadillac CT6 V-Sport includes a bold, dark front with a large V-inspired mesh grille and new horizontal LED headlamps with strong vertical signatures, making it distinctly Cadillac. Lower aero components and Gloss Black side window surround trim provide the performance sport sedan’s chiseled exterior with a dark and distinguished look. New, unique 20-inch V-Sport wheels with summer-only tires, lower aero components and spoiler further express the sedan’s performance capabilities.

  • New, summeronly performance tires developed exclusively for Cadillac V-Sport are tuned to deliver crisp response and track-capable performance while retaining isolation and comfort.
  • Mechanical limited-slip rear differential increases traction at the limit and provides more predictable performance during spirited and track driving.
  • V-Sport specific suspension tuning for improved roll control, cornering capability and steering response.

  • Modified steering and Magnetic Ride Control damper calibrations
  • Exhaust system with active valves offering reduced back pressure and more sound character
    • Tuned for V-Sport model, with a performance-oriented exhaust note

TRACK MODE, OPTIMIZED FOR PERFORMANCE

  • Maximized Magnetic Ride Control damper control
  • Re-mapped steering efforts for sportier, dynamic feedback
  • Track-tuned Active Rear Steer
  • Revised AWD torque split
  • Unique, track-focused stability controls
  • Track focused active exhaust valve calibration

“The CT6 V-Sport was developed for driving enthusiasts who want the best of both worlds: a high-performance sports sedan and a luxury car with all the comforts and technology that come with it,” said Lyndon Lie, CT6 chief engineer. “With its lightweight architecture, an all-new Cadillac Twin-Turbo V-8 coupled with the tightened suspension and revised AWD torque split, we’ve enhanced the CT6 to be well-balanced and capable of all conditions.”

Cadillac-2019-CT6-V-Sport-Arab-Motor-World-03

REFRESHED CT6 LINEUP

CT6 retains a dominant vertical light signature and adds horizontal elements to give the front end a more aggressive appearance. That inspiration continues to the back with the new rear lighting graphic, which is most visible at night.

“The V-Sport gave us the opportunity to accentuate the aggressive dynamics of the architecture,” said Andrew Smith, executive director of Cadillac Design. “The CT6 is the first entry that incorporates cues for the new Sport and V-Sport model strategy, which allowed us to make the car look as powerful as it drives.”

In addition to the introduction of the CT6 V-Sport, the 2019 CT6 lineup incorporates Cadillac’s new “Y” trim strategy for its models — each model will have Luxury and Sport trims with distinct personas and features. On non-V-Sport CT6 models, new horizontal high-lumen headlights and a revised taillight design refresh Cadillac’s signature lighting, inspired by the Escala Concept.

INTUITIVE TECHNOLOGIES

Led by the latest Cadillac user experience — the brand’s most advanced infotainment interface — the CT6 offers a connected environment.

The Cadillac user experience is a dynamic platform that offers a smartphone-like experience with an intuitive interface, faster response and improved voice recognition from previous generations. The system can be updated over time to meet a customer’s evolving connectivity needs. It leverages the cloud and available embedded 4G LTE connection to enable personalization, available connected navigation and news, marketplace and entertainment applications via the app store and a new rotary controller that offers users alternative ways to interact with the system.

The new controller includes volume and seek forward/back controls for the audio system; shortcut buttons for fast access to the most frequently used apps such as Audio, Phone, Navigation (if available) and Home; and a large center dial to operate primary features of the most frequently used apps, scroll menus and lists and select other apps to be displayed.

The Ferrari 488 Pista: the synthesis of extreme, track-level power and driving exhilaration for the road

Ferrari-488-Pista_Arab-Motor-World

The Ferrari 488 Pista is powered by the most powerful V8 engine in the Maranello marque’s history and is the company’s special series sports car with the highest level yet of technological transfer from racing. In fact the name, meaning ‘track’ in Italian, was chosen specifically to testify to Ferrari’s unparalleled heritage in motor sports.

Technically, the Ferrari 488 Pista encompasses all of the experience built up on the world’s circuits by the 488 Challenge and the 488 GTE. For over 25 years, Maranello has been organising the most prestigious of all one-make championships, the Ferrari Challenge, in which over 100 drivers split into three continental series do battle at the wheel. Last year saw the introduction of the 488 Challenge, the first model in the series to be equipped with a turbo engine. The Ferrari 488 GTE is instead the car fielded in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the pinnacle of GT racing, where it has won two consecutive GT Manufacturers’ titles and no less than five titles in total since the championship’s inception in 2012. Thanks to wins in both the Pro and Am categories, the 488 GTE has taken no fewer than 35 out of the 50 races run to date.

The new car’s engine adopts numerous solutions from that of the 488 Challenge and its power output has been increased to 720 cv. It is also lighter, thanks to new titanium con-rods and carbon-fibre intake plenums. The inverted radiator cooling system is also derived from the Challenge with the radiators raked rearwards (rather forwards as in the 488 GTB), improving cooling and maintaining optimal performance levels even in high thermal stress situations.

The car’s aerodynamics are derived from both the 488 GTE and from Formula 1, specifically the S-Duct at its front, the rear spoiler and diffuser profiles which boost efficiency by 20% compared to the 488 GTB. Other solutions have been carried over from the track to shave off further weight, including the lithium battery (from the 488 Challenge) and also the new carbon-fibre wheel rims – a first for Ferrari. The overall result is that the 488 Pista is an impressive 90 kg lighter than the 488 GTB.

As with the three previous special series, the Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale, this new berlinetta is the perfect marriage of extreme performance and track car-style handling.

The vehicle dynamics were designed for unique driving feedback and to make the car’s full potential available to all drivers, professional or otherwise. Specific vehicle controls were developed with this in mind, first and foremost being a new oversteer management system usable in the manettino’s CT-OFF position and designed to make the car’s performance on the limit easier to reach and control.

A new gear-shift strategy in the RACE position delivers a far more sporty experience, very similar to that of a track car. In other words, the Ferrari 488 Pista offers drivers of all abilities an exceptional and exhilarating experience that normally only a competition car could deliver, setting a whole new benchmark in terms of driving pleasure for the Ferrari range.

The Ferrari 488 Pista’s extreme design is underlined by the optional livery that highlights the aerodynamic innovation of the S-Duct. The car’s lines were developed to underscore its sporty soul and cleverly combine the purity of the 488 GTB with some of the hugely successful racing and functional elements of the 488 GTE and 488 Challenge while staying true to Ferrari’s traditional styling.

World Premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2018

High-performance in its purest form wrapped in the discreet attire of the Mercedes E-Class: The new BRABUS 800 supercar based on the latest Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+ once more masterfully implements this principle. With a peak output of 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft), this high-performance sedan delivers superlative driving performance: The four-door takes just 3.0 seconds for the zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) exercise. The top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h (186 mph).

Of course, BRABUS also refines the looks with a sportily and elegantly styled naked-carbon aerodynamic-enhancement kit, and hi-tech forged wheels with a diameter of 21 inches. An exclusive BRABUS fine leather interior creates an exquisite ambience.

BRABUS offers the largest range of safety-certified performance upgrades and increased-displacement engines for Mercedes-Benz vehicles worldwide. The power unit engineers from Bottrop have now developed another tuning level for the Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+. Generating even more power required modifications to the hardware of the engine peripherals. The BRABUS performance kit includes two reconfigured BRABUS high-performance turbochargers, which in addition to a larger compressor unit also have a modified core assembly with reinforced axial bearings. They generate a maximum boost pressure of 1.6 bar.

The development included calibration and endurance tests on state-of-the-art stationary engine test benches as well as extensive testing on the racetrack and in traffic. All these tests were used to recalibrate the mapping for injection, boost pressure control and ignition, which is introduced into the engine control unit by an auxiliary control module, as well as to achieve the flawless durability that has always been the hallmark of every BRABUS engine.

The result of these modifications gives the BRABUS 800 its name: An extra 138.4 kW / 188 hp (186 bhp) means 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) at 6,700 rpm for the turbocharged V8. The tuned engine also has a significantly higher peak torque: an extra 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) translates into impressive 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) at a low 3,600 rpm.

The driving performance is correspondingly outstanding for a sedan: From rest, the BRABUS 800 with 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive takes just 3.0 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph). As a wagon, the supercar from Bottrop takes just a tenth of a second longer. The nine-speed automatic transmission shifts either automatically or manually with the ergonomically shaped BRABUS RACE aluminum paddle shifter on the steering wheel.

The top speed of both body styles is limited electronically to 300 km/h (186 mph). BRABUS 800 versions with an even higher top speed are in development.

Of course, BRABUS will be happy to prepare an acoustic treat for owners of any E 63. The stainless BRABUS stainless sport exhaust with ceramics-coated tailpipes for all E 63 variants has not only a positive effect on the performance by reducing the exhaust backpressure. The integrated exhaust flaps also allow influencing the exhaust note at the touch of a button in the cockpit. The V8 can be driven decidedly discreetly in the quiet “Coming Home” mode or in the open “Sport” position, which coaxes an extra powerful sound from the engine.

As an option, the new BRABUS 800 can also be enhanced with sporty and elegantly styled naked-carbon aerodynamic-enhancement components, which were fine-tuned in the wind tunnel and consequently further optimize the handling stability at high speeds. The precise-fit BRABUS bodywork components come with a choice of high-gloss or matte coating.

BRABUS surrounds for the large air intakes in the left and right side of the front bumper and the BRABUS front spoiler lip, which likewise attaches to the bumper, are available to give the front an even more distinctive design. The BRABUS designers shaped the aerodynamic-enhancement component to reduce front-axle lift at high speeds, which further optimizes the handling stability. For an optimal aerodynamic balance, the trunk lid of the sedan is fitted with a rear spoiler. The carbon diffuser insert for the rear bumper perfectly frames the two dual design tailpipes of the BRABUS sport exhaust.

The BRABUS looks of course also include tailor-made alloys, which have been safety-certified for all E 63 models in various sizes with diameters of up to 21 inches. The range culminates in the BRABUS Monoblock “PLATINUM EDITION” forged wheels, which are available in different designs. At the Geneva Motor Show 2018, the vehicle sports Monoblock Y design wheels. Fitting the model name, this design fascinates with nine pairs of polished double-spokes that extend all the way to the outer flange and form nine “Ys” there. BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA supply the optimal high-performance tires. The front axle is fitted with 9Jx21 wheels and 265/30 ZR 21 tires. The rear axle features 10.5Jx21 wheels with 305/25 ZR 21 tires.

This measure benefits not only the thrilling appearance of the BRABUS 800, this tire/wheel combination also makes the handling even more agile. The BRABUS suspension module for the standard air suspension lowers the ride height of sedan or wagon by about 20 millimeters (.8 in) and can further amplify this effect.

Another special domain of BRABUS is exclusive interior refinement. Under the “BRABUS fine leather” label, the company upholstery shop transforms the finest leather and Alcantara into interior appointments that fulfil even the most individual customer requests. There is virtually no limit to the choice of colors and upholstery designs. In addition, there are noble-wood and genuine-carbon inlays, which can also be tailor-made in a wide range of colors and versions to suit the owner’s personal taste.

An excellent example of the work of the interior designers of the Bottrop-based company is the BRABUS 800 on display at the Geneva Motor Show 2018.

The BRABUS two-tone all-leather interior in black and red captivates not only with its color scheme, but also with the pinpoint quilting of the black seat surfaces. A closer look reveals further loving details: The black center sections of the seats are perforated and have red leather backing. In addition, the interior was refined with tailor-made BRABUS carbon inlays with sealed high-gloss surface. Stainless scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo that changes colors in sync with the ambient lighting of the interior round off the classy interior design.

The BRABUS 800 can be ordered as a complete car, sedan or wagon. Upon customer request, BRABUS converts any current Mercedes E 63 4MATIC+ to this performance level either all at once or in stages.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and efficiency class:

BRABUS 800 based on the E 63 S 4MATIC+: city 11.7 l/100 km, highway 7.6 l/100 km, combined: 9.1 l/100 km. Combined CO2 emissions: 207 g/km, efficiency class D.
