The 2019 Ram 1500 Model Range

The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 model has been completely overhauled, making it better than ever, offering even more capability, strength and performance. But even this monumental progress wasn’t enough to satisfy the Ram engineering team, which is why they also pushed innovation, technology and refinement to entirely new heights, revolutionising the brand’s flagship vehicle in what is perhaps its most significant redesign ever.

The editors of Cars.com summed it up perfectly when they named the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 “Best of Show” at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, saying that “Ram has climbed to the top of the heap for its blend of capability, comfort, technology and efficiency.” Further proof of this is that the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 was the only truck to be named on Ward’s 2018 10 Best Interiors List alongside a short list of premium luxury vehicles.

Boasting countless segment-exclusive features in the specific areas most important to buyers and combining entirely new levels of interior luxury, comfort, technology, capability and functionality, these features make the Ram 1500 a dream come true for customers who now don’t have to make any compromise to drive a Ram truck.

Ground-breaking innovation

The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 delivers innovative state-of-the-art technology which, in addition to the Uconnect® includes multifunction type C USB ports that allow devices to be charged up to four times faster than standard USB outlets are included as standard and an integrated wireless charging pad is also available.

An innovative, highly advanced active noise cancellation system and acoustic glass reduce ambient sounds down to a low 67.1 db, making it the quietest Ram 1500 ever.

Manoeuvrability and parking are also made easier than ever before, thanks to the all-new 2019 Ram 1500’s available combination of ParkSense® front and rear parking sensors, Parkview® rear backup camera, blind spot and rear cross path detection, adaptive cruise control and, available for the first time on the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, a 360º surround view camera that gives a bird’s-eye perspective of the vehicle via four cameras positioned around the vehicle to create a fully stitched image.

The most luxurious truck ever

Offering the very highest levels of space and luxury including the most leather and real wood, the interior of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 sets a standard that’s so high the rest of the segment will find it hard – if not impossible – to match in terms of design and quality.

An additional 4-inches (10 cm) has also been added to the cabin, giving rear seat passengers best-in-class legroom of 45.1-inches (1,146 mm), with the added luxury of ventilated rear seats that recline up to 8-degrees and a fold down rear seat centre console, even further enhancing comfort.

The cabin features interior storage totalling 151.1 litres and a reimagined centre console with 12 different storage configurations that offers never-before-seen customization, while other features, such as the exclusive lockable RamBox bedside storage, hidden bins and flat-load floor, offer totally unique solutions for cargo.

Ram Middle East

Exhilarating performance

Significantly, the Ram 1500’s tried and tested 5.7-litre HEMI® V8 doesn’t sound or feel like a V8 until you want it to. With the windows up on the highway, it runs crossover quiet, thanks in part to expanded active noise cancellation and cylinder deactivation.

To control the power, and with 18 percent more pad area, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 features the largest front brake rotors in the segment at 14.9-inches (378 mm). A new electric parking brake replaces the previously foot operated parking brake, eliminating 20 pounds (9 kgs) and working jointly with the truck to identify when to automatically engage.

No compromise ride, handling and maximised fuel efficiency

The 2019 Ram 1500 offers class-leading ride and handling, which is delivered via a unique link-coil rear suspension system and an optional air suspension system that features five height settings for optimum ride and aerodynamic performance. In addition to an enhanced smooth ride, the air suspension also allows the driver – via a separate button on the key fob – to lower the truck, allowing easier passenger entry and reduced tailgate lift-over height.

The air suspension system adds up to 4-inches (102mm) of lift, offering best-in-class step-in height of 21-inches (533.4 mm), best-in-class ground clearance of 10.7-inches (271.78 mm), best-in-class departure angle of 27.8 degrees, and best-in-class breakover angle of 24.2 degrees supported by four-corner air springs that provide a cushioned, premium ride on-road and excellent capability off-road. Another benefit of the new air suspension is load-levelling capability, which automatically detects load on the suspension from a trailer or payload. The air pressure increases until the vehicle reaches normal ride height, levelling the vehicle and improving the loaded ride.

Another all-new feature – Frequency Response Damping (FRD) shocks – deliver the best combination of ride and handling. When the Ram 1500 experiences a slower input, common during cornering and heavy braking, the bypass valve is closed for more aggressive damping, which provides additional stability and poise. When driving normally or exposed to faster shock inputs – which is common on rough roads or at higher speeds – the valve opens to soften the damping, giving the driver more comfort, confidence and control.

For the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, the engineering team has made overall weight reductions totalling nearly 225 pounds (102 kgs) net compared to the previous model and have created the strongest Ram 1500 ever with the most efficient frame in the segment – 100 pounds (45.4 kgs) lighter with 98 percent high-strength steel to improve durability, weight and rigidity for improved handling.

Extensive wind tunnel testing honed the all-new 2019 Ram 1500’s exterior shape, resulting in continued best-in-class aerodynamics, plus exclusive active aerodynamics – grille shutters, air dam and air suspension – that help make the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 the segment’s most aerodynamic vehicle and maximise fuel efficiency. Its .357 coefficient of drag is 9% lower than the previous model and comparable to a regular sedan.

To further maximise fuel efficiency, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 also features Fuel Saver Technology (cylinder deactivation), with the engine’s control computer turning off fuel and spark and closing the intake and exhaust valves on four of the engine’s eight cylinders during light load operation, such as highway cruising when full power is not needed.

The model features over 100 advanced safety and security features, (many as standard, some as available options depending on the model) including Electronic Roll Mitigation, multistage air bags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, ParkSense® Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist and ParkView® Rear back-up camera.

GCC customers also benefit from the Ram brand’s confidence in the quality and durability of its vehicles in the form of a comprehensive 5-year / 100,000 km manufacturer warranty and service package.

The 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport is available to order at all Ram showrooms in the Middle East region.

With a long list of upgrades, the new Cummins 6.7-litre I6, high output Turbo Diesel delivers up to 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,800 rpm and 400 horsepower @ 2,800 rpm. Changes begin at the core, with a cylinder block made from compacted graphite iron. Overall, the new Cummins Turbo Diesel weighs more than 60 lbs. (27.2 kgs) less than the previous-generation engine yet delivers more power and torque. A new cast-iron cylinder head builds on the new block with changes that include new exhaust valves and springs, and new rocker arms. Lighter and stronger pistons include new low-friction rings and connect to the crankshaft via newly design forged connecting rods and new bearings. An all-new exhaust manifold is the mounting point for an improved variable-geometry turbocharger with laminated heat shields, delivering boost pressure up to 33 psi.

The second variant of the Cummins Turbo Diesel also gets a performance boost with 370 horsepower @ 2,800 rpm and 850 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,700 rpm.

The standard engine in the 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty is upgraded to the proven and potent 6.4-litre HEMI V8, delivering class-leading 410 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm and 429 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4,000 rpm to handle the payload and towing requirements of the heavy-duty truck user.

Transmissions

Ram 3500 Heavy Duty models equipped with the 1,000 lb.-ft. high output Cummins 6.7-litre Turbo Diesel employ the Aisin AS69RC electronically controlled six-speed automatic. This transmission is engineered to handle the colossal torque of the Turbo Diesel engine and increased vehicle weight ratings while delivering improved shift quality. Along with hardware upgrades, the Aisin AS69RC uses a new transmission controller with double the memory of the previous controller and a dual-core processor. This delivers faster, more precise shifts under all driving and loading conditions.

Ram Heavy Duty trucks powered by the standard output Cummins 6.7-litre Turbo Diesel are equipped with a significantly upgraded version of the 68RFE six-speed automatic transmission. Changes designed to improve the electronically controlled transmission’s shift quality include new variable-force solenoid controls for the torque-converter clutch. A new reverse accumulator improves shift feel when placing the transmission into park from reverse. Drive-to-park shifts were also improved through refined hydraulic control.

In a first for the Ram Heavy Duty, the 6.4-litre HEMI V8 comes mated to the proven and smooth-shifting TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic. There are more than 40 individual shift maps to optimise shift points for fuel economy, performance and drivability. The transmissions use shift-by-wire technology, eliminating a mechanical linkage between the transmission and the gear selector. The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty uses an innovative rotary e-shift dial mounted on the left side of the instrument panel’s centre stack – freeing up space traditionally occupied by a console- or column-mounted shift lever.

Transfer Cases

Four-wheel-drive versions of the 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty are equipped with a BorgWarner part-time transfer case. The 6.4-litre HEMI V8 and variant of the Cummins 6.7-litre Turbo Diesel drive power through either an electronic (BW 44-46) or manual shift (BW 44-47) transfer case, depending on model.

Ram Heavy Duty trucks with the high output version of the Cummins 6.7-litre Turbo Diesel are equipped with an all-new part-time BorgWarner transfer case (BW 44-48). This transfer case is designed to handle the higher input loads for maximum towing capability up to 35,100 lbs. (15,876 kgs).

Axles

New front and rear axles on the 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty have been engineered to improve durability, handle industry-leading payload and towing capabilities, and minimize NVH, as well as take advantage of opportunities to optimize weight. The Ram 3500 Heavy Duty is offered with an all-new, larger 12-inch (30.48 cm) AAM rear axle to handle the class-leading power and capability.

ENGINEERING

The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty is the most powerful, most capable pickup in the segment with a towing capacity of 35,100 lbs. (15,876 kgs) and payload capacity of 7,680 lbs. (3,484 kgs). But big capability is irrelevant if the truck fails to instil confidence to the driver. Ram redefines the phrase “you don’t even know it’s back there” when towing or hauling.

Frame
Ram Heavy Duty trucks feature all-new frames built with 98.5-percent high-strength steel, six separate crossmembers, hydroformed main rails and fully boxed rear rails for optimal strength and mass efficiency. Although the new Ram Heavy Duty is stronger and more capable, lightweight materials in the frame, powertrain and an aluminium hood reduce overall weight by up to 143 lbs. (65 kgs). Two Active-Tuned Mass Modules (ATMM) mounted on the frame rails search out unfavourable vibrations and apply countermeasures to eliminate them.

Wide front frame rails enable front suspension springs to be positioned slightly outboard – an enabler for generating positive roll stiffness. In the rear portion of the new frame, the structure includes fully boxed rear rails. The rear-axle structural crossmember with provisions for fifth-wheel and gooseneck hitches, has been upgraded for 2019 to accommodate the increased towing capacity.

On vehicles equipped with the optional auxiliary camera prep package, the standard 4/7-pin bumper connector is replaced with a 12/7-pin connector to support the remote camera option (available Mopar® accessory). A tailgate handle-mounted, rear high-definition camera backup system is standard with dynamic imaging on the 12-inch, 8.4-inch or 5-inch (30.48, 21.34 or 12.7 cm) displays with turning guidelines. Also, the cargo-view camera located in the Centre High-Mounted Stop Light (CHMSL) provides a view of the bed for easier connection to fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailers, as well as monitoring bed loads.

Suspension
Heavy Duty trucks generally have a suspension equipped for constant, heavy payloads. This leads to a harsher ride when unloaded. The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty includes Frequency Response Damping (FRD) shocks on all four corners. The valves of an FRD shock automatically adjust for the type of vertical wheel input, allowing the Ram Heavy Duty to have sports-car-like suspension for handling and a supple suspension on rough terrain. Engineers added progressive springs and upgraded bushings to the suspension system, including the exclusive five-link coil design on Ram 2500, providing better load-carrying characteristics and improved articulation over obstacles when compared to a leaf-spring system.

A class-exclusive Active-Level rear air suspension is available on both the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 and includes a new Bed-lowering Mode to make the heaviest trailer hook-ups a breeze. The 2019 Ram 2500 uses two air bags to replace the coil springs. Load capacity is not sacrificed and the Ram 2500’s best-in-class ride and handling gets even better, crushing the competition with two doses of engineering innovation (five-link coil with an air suspension option). The Ram 3500 features a Hotchkiss rear leaf-spring system with optional air suspension. By adding supplemental air bags, Ram engineers were able to soften the heavy-load leaf springs, allowing for more unladed suspension movement.

In the front, a new, two-piece, front-suspension crossmember structure adds a longer welded interface and greater strength to the frame. The Ram Heavy Duty line features an advanced three-link front suspension to ensure roll stiffness.

Brakes
A new braking system upgrades the calipers, booster and master cylinder. Combined with a larger-ratio pedal swing, the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty delivers a more confident and powerful execution with little effort from the driver. The reengineered system also offers shorter stopping distances and braking to match the highest capability.

Body
Several body elements are upgraded from mild steel to high-strength steel on the 2019 Heavy Duty pickups. Additional light-weighting efforts consist of an aluminium hood, which contributes to an overall weight reduction of 143 lbs. (65 kgs) on the volume model.

Through wind-tunnel analyses and three million miles of real-world durability tests, engineers have created the quietest Ram Heavy Duty ever with a segment-leading drag coefficient of .409. Upgrades to improve Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) include new C-pillar hydromounts, anti-vibration devices, new engine mounts, active noise cancelling and new exhaust-system attachments.

New Power Wagon Content

2019 Ram Power Wagon is the most capable production off-road truck in the industry. The Power Wagon features a unique suspension, factory suspension lift, locking front and rear differentials, disconnecting sway bar and a 12,000-lb. (5,443 kgs) winch. New to the Power Wagon is a 360 camera, which includes forward-view camera gridlines to help navigate obstacles. An all-new and integrated front-mounted WARN Zeon-12 winch features a unique fairlead and fairlead retainer with a new synthetic line that cannot kink, does not fray and is more manoeuvrable. The new line also cuts weight by 28 lbs. (12.7 kgs). A Power Wagon content package continues to be available on Tradesman, which includes all the off-road equipment but keeps the Tradesman design elements.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

The new 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups include more than 100 available safety and security elements, including an array of active and passive systems to assist the driver and passengers – offered in all models.

Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), 360-degree camera display and selectable tire pressures are just some of the new, specialized technologies found in Ram’s halo pickup trucks. Since the Ram Heavy Duty line is engineered around capability, it makes sense that many of the technologies would be enhanced from their use in passenger cars. For example, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, which can monitor up to six tyres on the pickup, now includes trailer tyre pressure monitoring for up to 12 trailer tyres. Although a back-up camera is a standard feature on most vehicles, the Ram Heavy Duty offers a second rear-view camera (cargo-view camera) to monitor payload in the bed. It also can be used to align fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers, a common task of the Ram Heavy Duty pickup. As a segment-first, back-up sensors on the Ram 3500 include specifically designed sensors to cover the added width of dual rear wheels, giving a wider span of coverage when backing up with limited view.

The new Ram Heavy Duty uses a variety of high-strength steels in the frame, body panels and core structure to maximize impact performance and reduce overall weight, including the A-, B- and C-pillars, front structure and door beams. Increased resistance spot welds reduce the heat exposure to surrounding metal to maintain strength and long-term durability.

DESIGN

After hundreds of sketches, the new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty line of pickups came forward with the full force of modern capability. Interiors mirror the design expressed on the recently launched Ram 1500 with unmatched luxury, materials, innovation and technology extending well past any competitive offerings.

Interior

For 2019, all-new features, technology and premium materials help the redesigned Ram Heavy Duty continue its interior leadership with quality, technology and luxury. Each trim level is uniquely characterized to reflect individual identity.

The new instrument panel combines a strong, structurally interlocking appearance, pushing the central controls up and toward the driver, improving overall reachability of system controls. The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty features the Uconnect 4C NAV on a 12-inch (30.48 cm) fully configurable touchscreen, which can display one application, such as the navigation map, across the whole 12-inch screen, or can be divided in half, operating two different applications at once. Redundant HVAC controls and a new enhanced-ergonomic switch bank deliver improved feedback and appearance.

The new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty features an available 7-inch (17.78 cm), full-colour, 3D animation-capable driver information display, with reconfigurable function that enables Ram truck drivers to personalise information inside the instrument cluster. The display is designed to visually communicate information, using graphics and text, quickly and easily.

Across all trim levels, the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty features push-button start and a redesigned rotary e-shifter dial (HEMI V8 only). The new shifter area also intelligently groups new feature buttons, including Hill Descent Control, axle lock and transfer case controls, when equipped.

An active noise cancellation system and acoustic glass reduce ambient cabin sounds by nearly 10 db – the quietest Ram Heavy Duty ever. The new HVAC system features 30 percent more air flow at lower noise levels, including larger front defroster vents for better performance. All-new in-duct electric heating elements on diesel models help speed cabin warmup on cold days, and larger system controls and new larger panel ducts work better with gloved hands.

With up to 258 litres of interior storage volume on the exclusive Mega Cab including two bins behind the rear seats, the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty offers more than 120-percent additional storage capacity versus the closest competitor. A reimagined centre console is a usable, complex piece of art with more than 12 different storage combinations. Up from 19.7 to 22.6 litres, the console includes a wider docking area with optional wireless charging, which can hold a small tablet or smartphone. A three-position sliding cup-holder tray can be stowed under the centre armrest to reveal a deep storage tub designed to hold a 15-inch (38.1 cm) laptop

To keep devices charged, five USB ports assist in the centre console type-C ports for faster communication and charging. Up to three 115-volt household plugs are available (three-prong). One in the first row and one in the second row. All outlets now handle up to 400 watts to charge or power tools quickly.

Exterior

Robust sections combined with “interlocking” design aesthetics also function to improve aerodynamics to surround segment-leading capability and technology. Every Ram Heavy Duty truck benefits from new content specifically designed to match each model’s unique style. Rather than a traditional focus on styling elements individually, designers combined elements that influence each other’s shape, resulting in a more integrated look that aligns with the mechanical capabilities of the truck. For example, the grille, hood and fenders share pieces of each other, as well as the instrument panel, cluster and centre console.

The 2019 Heavy Duty creates a bold and unique appearance that Heavy Duty customers can call their own. Interlocked with the new, lighter aluminium hood, a much larger and more aggressive front grille opening leads with confidence and strength. The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty is available in six different grille styles with a complete departure from the historic crosshairs. The new front bumper is cut with larger openings, providing greater airflow to the largest turbo intercooler Ram has ever adapted to its halo pickups. More than 20 sensors surrounding the new Ram Heavy Duty are seamlessly integrated to make them less visible. A removable air dam helps mold the most aerodynamic Heavy Duty Ram has offered.

Three headlamp variations are available delivering the best lighting in the segment: Halogen, full LED/reflector and full LED/projector with Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) for up to 15 degrees of movement in the expected direction of travel.

The side of the truck flows with trademark Ram style. A drawn body-side character line ties together the front fender and cab doors. An all-new interlocking side-step design incorporates deep tread patterns and a R-A-M logo.

The new Ram Heavy Duty continues to offer the best lockable bed storage in the segment with RamBox. The industry-first RamBox Cargo Management System includes versatile, weatherproof, lockable, illuminated and drainable storage bins built into the bed rails. New for 2019, RamBox features a 115-volt outlet with up to 400-watts of power.

Surrounding the largest cab in the segment, the interior design team brought unique colours and premium materials to each trim level of the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty. Each model makes its own unique “Hero” statement with paint colours, badging, wheels, grilles and other features.

UCONNECT®

Ram Rebel TRX Concept Rips with 575 Supercharged Horsepower

Ram, America’s off-road truck leader, has introduced the Ram Rebel TRX concept. Rebel TRX is an off-road machine with 575 horsepower – the most powerful half-ton truck the company has ever built. Ripping over pavement at speeds greater than 100 mph (161 km/h) is an experience, but the Ram Rebel TRX concept hits triple digits in an off-road environment with the help of a supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI® V8.

“This new Ram concept is a pickup that fans will truly appreciate – the Ram Rebel TRX concept solidifies Ram Truck’s position as the off-road pickup leader,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global. “With 575 supercharged horsepower and a suspension system built to withstand an all-day hammering, the Rebel TRX concept can devour the roughest terrain at more than 100 miles per hour (161 km/h) and never look back.”

Powertrain

The rapidly beating heart of the Ram Rebel TRX concept is a powertrain marvel. A 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI with 575 horsepower, the most powerful Ram 1500 the company has ever built, lays the groundwork of expectation. Mated to the TorqueFlite 8HP70 eight-speed automatic transmission, new calibrations were used for the engine, transmission and drivetrain to optimize the expected high-speed off-road driving cycle.

The Ram Rebel TRX concept uses Ram’s 4×4 Performance Control System with a BorgWarner 44-45 transfer case. The system employs different modes of operation: Normal, Wet/Snow, Off-road and Baja. A standard Ram 1500 front axle with an open differential and custom CV half-shafts is used to handle the wider track dimension. The spindles are moved forward to make room within the fender wells for the aggressive 37-inch tyres.

In the rear, a Dynatrac Pro 60 axle spools power through an electric, selectable locker to 35-spline, 1.5-inch (38 mm) axle shafts. The locker is available in all modes and commits both rear wheels to traction at the same speed, spreads the torque load and maximizes the tractive effort (power put to the ground) in full-throttle manoeuvers

Engineering

The Ram Rebel TRX has an exterior design that radiates focused aggression, which is only trumped by what lies under its skin. The concept was built around suspension and frame prerequisites. Equally important was adapting as many systems from the standard Ram 1500 as possible to ensure durability and proper function.

The high-strength steel frame structure of the Ram Rebel TRX is virtually unchanged when compared to a standard Ram 1500. The frame uses low-torsion attributes that increase durability, stability and handling precision.

A 40 percent increase in suspension travel and 37-inch tyres contribute to incredible ground clearance. This combination allows the TRX concept to overcome surface obstacles at high speed.

The front suspension incorporates custom-built upper and lower A-arms with special attention to caster and camber angles during suspension cycling. Overall, front- and rear-wheel travel is increased to more than 13 inches (330 mm) from the standard 9 inches (229 mm). The front load is managed by a state-of-the-art, adjustable, performance coil-over shock with internal bypass. The result is a smooth ride over smaller bumps, and when the bumps become mounds, the reaction speed and heat dissipation is unbeatable, softening the impact on occupants and maintaining the tyre-to-ground contact.

The Ram 1500 uses an exclusive, best-in-class link coil rear suspension system that shares basic architecture with the fastest off-road trucks in desert racing. The frame’s hard points for the five-link suspension system are unchanged and allow the rear axle travel to span up to 13 inches (330 mm), while standard rear-wheel travel on the Ram 1500 is 9.25 inches (235 mm). New 2.5-inch (63.5 mm) bypass shocks use factory upper and lower shock mounts. The standard rear coils are swapped for performance springs located in the factory-spec positions.

To provide incredible stopping power, the factory hydraulic-boost compensation unit enhances brake pedal feel and performance during emergency stop events. Baer brakes six-piston monoblock calipers mounted to 15-inch (381 mm) rotors equip the front. The rear uses six-piston calipers with 14-inch (356 mm) rotors.

High-speed off-road truck racing teams commonly use a 37-inch tyre for its height and durability. Tyres with 37 inches (940 mm) of height, 13.5 inches (343 mm) of width, aggressive treads and 10-ply design are assigned the task for Rebel TRX. The Rebel TRX concept also features custom beadlock wheels from Mopar. Beadlock wheels provide additional tyre-holding strength by pinching the outside of the tyre to the rim. The Rebel TRX carries two complete spare tyre and wheel packages. Tools and jack are located in custom, lockable storage between the wheels in the bed.

Design

Although it is clear that the line and colour combinations are borrowed from the popular Rebel and Power Wagon models, the Ram Rebel TRX has a much more chiseled look.

Three letters burst clear of a Power Wagon-inspired grille spelling “RAM” in body-matching black and red. Out of necessity, the bold, scooped grille allows a fire-breathing supercharged engine to cool with additional air flow. Composite flares help compensate for a six-inch (152 mm) increase in track width and gave designers another location to mark their signature. A lower brush guard is forged in steel and up to the “rock knock” test.

To clear the roots-style blower mounted atop the HEMI engine, the Rebel TRX uses a hood based on the taller Ram Heavy Duty design. The raised fender height matches shoulders to chest. A drone’s-eye view exposes bright LED clearance lighting and the acute hour-glass body lines as they dive back into the doors only to pop back out in the back, enabling rear tires to firmly tuck into the wells.

The side of the Rebel TRX leads your eye to enormous five-inch (127 mm), side-exit exhaust ports integrated within a full-length rock rail for added body/sill protection. Closing out the rear of the truck, a large “Ram” badge in Matte Black is borrowed from the Rebel and covers the tailgate. A custom rear steel bumper with integrated skid plate and tow hooks matches capability features on the front of the truck.

When traversing rough terrain at high speeds, seating is important. The interior design team chose suede with accent mesh cloth inserts to cover the rear bench and front buckets. The suede inserts provide tremendous grip to clothing. The front seats integrate lateral support upper bolsters with embroidered logos. All four seats are strapped with six-point harnesses, further fixing occupants to their proper locations.

An open upper glove box with elastic straps holds a sturdy TRX-labeled bag with color matched tools. A seven-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) display cluster features muddy tracks and TRX badge graphics. The same graphics fill the screen on an 8.4 Uconnect. To record TRX’s accomplishments, a custom camera mount is located at the rear-view mirror.

The centre console matches efforts on the instrument panel and includes a new polystable shifter trimmed in black suede and Header Red stitching. Designers re-trimmed the Rebel TRX armrests with solid Header Red accent stitching and wrapped the upper bolster in suede to keep arms in place. Nylon-strap door pulls are embroidered with “Release.”

A sport bar covered in black anodized paint provides anchor points dedicated to the six-point harnesses and spans from B-pillar to B-pillar – formed to allow maximum possible seat travel. The Rebel TRX interior floor also trades carpet for black rubberized coating. Black all-weather mats from Mopar reduce foot slip when foot-to-pedal placement is crucial.

One look at the Ram Rebel TRX concept and its intentions are clear – a 575-horsepower off-road machine with the ability to clear miles of desert in the blink of an eye.

The Ram Rebel TRX is currently anticipated to be available as a production model in the Middle East in 2022.

GMC Introduces the Next Generation 2019 Sierra

2019-GMC-Sierra-Denali-Arab-Motor-World-01

GMC is taking its most popular pickup truck to the next level with the completely redesigned 2019 Sierra Denali and SLT.

Distinguished by bold design and segment-leading technologies, the next generation Sierra Denali once again redefines the premium pickup, while advancing Denali’s legacy as the pinnacle of GMC design, capability and refinement.

“GMC ignited the premium truck segment 17 years ago with the original launch of the Sierra Denali,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global GMC. “The next generation 2019 Sierra Denali establishes a new benchmark in capability and refinement. It exemplifies precision in every detail.”

Powerful proportions and distinctive Denali design help define the Sierra’s unmistakable exterior, while the driver-focused cabin strengthens the brand’s reputation for refinement with premium materials, improved interior space and innovative storage solutions.

The 2019 Sierra Denali affirms its position as the most premium Sierra ever with segment-leading technologies and exclusive features, including:

  • GMC Exclusive, Industry-first MultiPro Tailgate is the most innovative pickup tailgate ever, with six unique functions and positions offering enhanced second-tier loading and load-stop solutions, a standing workstation and easier access to items in the box.
  • GMC Exclusive, Industry-first Carbon Fiber Pickup Box, the CarbonPro, was developed to increase durability, efficiency and functionality while offering best-in-class dent, scratch and corrosion resistance, making it the most durable pickup box in the segment.
  • All-new ProGrade Trailering System with Trailering App offers a connected comprehensive suite of trailering technology that brings more confidence to the towing experience than ever before.
  • Segment-first Multi-Color Head-Up Display projects key, customizable vehicle data on the windshield in a 3×7-inch display to help drivers keep their eyes on the road.
  • Segment-first Rear Camera Mirror offers an optimized view via an available dual-function interior mirror that expands vision to overcome common visual obstructions like occupants or cargo. This next generation system features a higher resolution camera and display and the ability to tilt or zoom the view.

The redesigned Sierra Denali offers a full suite of available advanced safety features, along with exclusive chassis technologies such as Adaptive Ride Control

“The heritage of the GMC brand is rooted in full-size trucks, of which the Sierra is our cornerstone, with our SLT and Denali models contributing 87 percent of our total crew cab sales,” Aldred said. “The next generation Sierra caters to these unique customers who demand a premium, innovative truck that supports their professional and personal passions.”

A commanding presence

The 2019 Sierra Denali debuts a profound new GMC design. A taller, more confident stance gives Sierra Denali powerful proportions complemented by hallmark details such as a chrome grille with a sharp, precise dimensional pattern that epitomizes the truck’s attention to detail.

“The next generation Sierra Denali has a deliberate, commanding presence,” said Matt Noone, director of design, GMC Exteriors. “Its unmistakable design embodies the essence of GMC, while advancing the brand’s core styling elements — rooted in inherent capability — with a new expression of its signature cues.”

Sierra shows refinement and strength through a larger, more-dominant upright grille, a taller hood, and a bolder, more pronounced take on GMC’s C-shaped lighting signature.

Advanced lighting technology distinguishes the Sierra Denali from every other truck on the road. GMC’s front lighting signature is conveyed through a prominent “light blade” that delivers uniform LED illumination for the daytime running lamps. LEDs are also used for the headlamps, taillamps, fog lamps and other illuminative elements, with lenses constructed from durable material with an almost crystalline quality.

The truck is larger than the previous truck in virtually every dimension, and the larger grille and dramatic lighting accentuate its broad-shouldered stance. The wheels are pushed closer to the corners and wear larger diameter tires. Denali features available 22-inch Ultra Bright aluminum wheels; the SLT model offers its own unique 22-inch dark aluminum wheels finished with chrome accents.

New, more prominent badging includes a bold DENALI nameplate on the tailgate —expressed in a new block-style typeface that echoes the truck’s strong proportions — below the signature GMC identification.

An elevated interior refined

The Sierra Denali’s new interior builds on the refinement and sophistication that have become synonymous with Denali, topping the segment with best-in-class front head- and legroom (maximum), providing a more spacious, driver-centric environment finished with premium materials.

Putting the driver at the center of experience starts with a higher seating position that offers a confident view behind the wheel. The optimized ergonomics emphasize easy, intuitive interaction with the vehicle’s technologies, such as the all-new Trailering App and segment-first Head-Up Display.

Denali-exclusive materials — including premium leather-appointed seating, authentic open-pore wood trim and dark-finish aluminum decor — help raise the interior to a new level of refinement. The exclusive leather appointments have a distinctive, large-pebbled grain with a contrasting stitch pattern that is both premium in appearance and touch without sacrificing durability, and the wood trim features an open-pore texture evocative of hand-planed furniture.

When it comes to the space and storage vital to truck customers, the 2019 Sierra’s crew cab has nearly 3 inches of additional rear-seat legroom compared to the current model. The outboard rear seat backs open to reveal rectangular storage spaces large enough for storing tablets or laptops, tie-down cords, umbrellas or other important accessories.

Groundbreaking cargo box capability and materials

The next generation 2019 Sierra debuts a GMC exclusive, industry-first MultiPro Tailgate that is the segment’s most innovative tailgate ever. Standard on SLT and Denali, the MultiPro Tailgate features six unique functions and positions, offering enhanced second-tier loading and load-stop solutions, a standing workstation mode and easier access to items in the box.

The MultiPro Tailgate also incorporates a step entry and egress mode that, when paired with the assist handle, offers both step and seated functionality, with a maximum weight capacity of 375 pounds (170 kg). Ease of use is enhanced with two buttons on the tailgate handle that allow convenient inner gate release.

This multifunctional tailgate offers proven strength and durability, having undergone more testing and validation than any tailgate in GM’s history. Sierra is the first and only truck to offer the MultiPro Tailgate, providing premium truck customers the ultimate flexibility. MultiPro Tailgate will be standard on Denali and SLT.

The cargo boxes also offer best-in-class cargo volume — 63 cubic feet (1,784 liters) on the short box, as well as additional tie-downs and a new, available 110-volt power outlet. The bed continues to be made of roll-formed, high-strength steel, yet a revised alloy offers 50 percent more strength than the current model.

The 2019 Sierra Denali will offer, later in the model year, an available GMC exclusive and industry-first carbon fiber box — the CarbonPro — developed to increase durability, efficiency and functionality of the truck. It replaces the standard steel inner panels and floor with a lightweight, purpose-designed carbon fiber composite that offers best-in-class dent, scratch and corrosion resistance, making it the most durable pickup box in the segment.

“In 116 years of making GMC pickup trucks, our industry-first carbon fiber box is the toughest and most durable pickup box we have ever made,” Aldred said.

The new CarbonPro box is 62 pounds (28 kg) lighter than the steel version, and is one example of GMC’s strategic use of materials in engineering the Sierra. The strategy also incorporates aluminum for the doors, hood and tailgate, while relying on steel for the fenders, roof and standard cargo box to shave up to 360 pounds (163 kg) from Sierra compared today’s model.

ProGrade Trailering System with Trailering App

The 2019 Sierra offers a more confident towing experience thanks to GMC’s new ProGrade Trailering System, standard on Denali and SLT. The trailering system includes an all-new Trailering App featuring a Pre-Departure checklist, Maintenance Reminders, Trailer Light Test, Trailer Electrical Diagnostics and Trailer Tire Pressure and Temperature Monitoring.

Many of the Trailering App’s functions, including the lighting test and pre-departure checklist, are also available with the MyGMC app on compatible Android and iOS smartphones, a feature that offers great convenience when outside the truck or trailer.

The next generation Sierra also offers Hitch Guidance with Hitch View and Auto Electric Park Brake to help with perfect positioning when hitching. The available side view cameras and a trailer-mounted HD camera provide additional assistance when driving down the road or in reverse. With exclusive Trailer Theft Detection, owners can receive text and mobile alerts from OnStar when the trailer has been detached from the truck without permission.

Purposeful technologies

Seamless, driver-focused technology has long been a Denali standard, and the 2019 Sierra Denali establishes a new benchmark by incorporating purposeful technologies.

These technologies work together to increase functionality and enhance comfort and convenience. Highlights include:

  • Segment-first Multi-color 3×7 Head-Up Display: The 2019 Sierra is the first full-size truck to offer this technology, which projects key vehicle information on the windshield within the driver’s line of sight.
  • Advanced GMC infotainment: This new, dynamic platform offers a smartphone-like experience with an intuitive interface, faster response and improved voice recognition. Sierra Denali’s standard 8-inch diagonal system includes navigation.
  • Segment-first Rear Camera Mirror: This available dual-function interior mirror offers an optimized camera view that can help the driver’s view around potential vision obstructions such as occupants or cargo, while also offering a greater field of vision. This next gen system features a higher resolution camera, a higher resolution display and the ability to tilt or zoom the view. A conventional mirror view is also available.
  • Surround Vision: Offering a bird’s-eye view of the truck, this available feature displays an overhead image on the infotainment screen, helping the driver detect potential obstacles when backing up, including when trailering.
  • Full suite of advanced safety features: The 2019 Sierra Denali offers a full range of available advanced safety features, including Side Blind Zone Alert, Pedestrian Detection and Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking.

Sierra performance

New versions of the proven 6.2L and 5.3L V-8 engines will be joined by an all-new 3.0L inline-six turbo-diesel engine, expanding the powertrain lineup for the 2019 Sierra.

The 5.3L and 6.2L engines feature stop/start technology and new Dynamic Fuel Management that enables the engine to operate on one to eight cylinders, depending on demand, to optimize power and efficiency. The new diesel builds on GMC’s expertise with Duramax turbo-diesels offered in Sierra HD and Canyon models. The available 6.2L and 3.0L engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Sierra Denali features an exclusive Adaptive Ride Control suspension system designed to provide premium driving refinement with exceptional responsiveness. It employs sophisticated sensors to monitor road conditions and chassis responses in real time, enabling adjustments to active dampers every 2 milliseconds.
