Ram has announced the arrival of the limited-edition 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport in the Middle East, representing exceptional value and making a truly luxurious everyday all-purpose vehicle more attainable than ever before.

Part of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 line-up, the Laramie Sport is set to change every preconception you may have when it comes to trucks. Forget any thoughts you may have of bulky, cumbersome, heavy duty, functional vehicles. The excellent balance of Ram’s design and engineering takes the Ram 1500 to an entirely new level that sees it firmly focused on becoming the perfect everyday vehicle for every lifestyle.

The Laramie Sport Edition, which will be limited to just 150 cars in the region, features a host of premium exterior features including a Sports Performance Hood, LED reflector headlamps and tail lamps, chrome accented 22-inch polished wheels and distinguished chrome details. But the real highlight of the 2019 Laramie Sport is the luxurious interior, with full-grain leather trimmed bucket seats and chrome plated accents.

The 2019 Laramie Sport is also at the forefront when it comes to technology, with the award-winning fourth-generation Uconnect® system and class-exclusive, 12-inch (305mm) reconfigurable touchscreen display with navigation and split-screen capability for dual-application operation plus Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™, and a wireless charging pad. Its leading audio system features a 19 speaker, 900-watt Harmon Kardon premium audio system – the most speakers and the most powerful audio system in its class. The instrument cluster also features a 7-inch (177.8 mm) full colour driver customisable TFT information display.

An available new 10 sq. ft. (0.92 sq. m.) dual-pane panoramic sunroof gives passengers an impressive window to fresh air, open skies and great views of their surroundings. And when it comes to comfort, the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport has ventilated front seats (with memory settings for the driver), power adjustable pedals with memory setting and a six-way power adjustable passenger seat.

For added convenience and ease of operation, the 2019 Laramie also features a nitrogen and oil charged dampened liftgate, which delivers an even, consistent assist in even the warmest climates, with key fob-controlled power-release, which makes opening it easier than ever before.

Powered by the legendary 5.7-litre HEMI® V8 with variable-valve timing (VVT) for greater efficiency and performance, the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport delivers 395hp at 5,600 rpm, 410 lb.-ft. of torque in a smooth, broad power band that avoids the hesitation and peakiness of turbocharged engines and is linked to a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission

The 2019 Ram 1500 Model Range

The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 model has been completely overhauled, making it better than ever, offering even more capability, strength and performance. But even this monumental progress wasn’t enough to satisfy the Ram engineering team, which is why they also pushed innovation, technology and refinement to entirely new heights, revolutionising the brand’s flagship vehicle in what is perhaps its most significant redesign ever.

The editors of summed it up perfectly when they named the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 “Best of Show” at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, saying that “Ram has climbed to the top of the heap for its blend of capability, comfort, technology and efficiency.” Further proof of this is that the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 was the only truck to be named on Ward’s 2018 10 Best Interiors List alongside a short list of premium luxury vehicles.

Boasting countless segment-exclusive features in the specific areas most important to buyers and combining entirely new levels of interior luxury, comfort, technology, capability and functionality, these features make the Ram 1500 a dream come true for customers who now don’t have to make any compromise to drive a Ram truck.

Ground-breaking innovation

The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 delivers innovative state-of-the-art technology which, in addition to the Uconnect® includes multifunction type C USB ports that allow devices to be charged up to four times faster than standard USB outlets are included as standard and an integrated wireless charging pad is also available.

An innovative, highly advanced active noise cancellation system and acoustic glass reduce ambient sounds down to a low 67.1 db, making it the quietest Ram 1500 ever.

Manoeuvrability and parking are also made easier than ever before, thanks to the all-new 2019 Ram 1500’s available combination of ParkSense® front and rear parking sensors, Parkview® rear backup camera, blind spot and rear cross path detection, adaptive cruise control and, available for the first time on the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, a 360º surround view camera that gives a bird’s-eye perspective of the vehicle via four cameras positioned around the vehicle to create a fully stitched image.

The most luxurious truck ever

Offering the very highest levels of space and luxury including the most leather and real wood, the interior of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 sets a standard that’s so high the rest of the segment will find it hard – if not impossible – to match in terms of design and quality.

An additional 4-inches (10 cm) has also been added to the cabin, giving rear seat passengers best-in-class legroom of 45.1-inches (1,146 mm), with the added luxury of ventilated rear seats that recline up to 8-degrees and a fold down rear seat centre console, even further enhancing comfort.

The cabin features interior storage totalling 151.1 litres and a reimagined centre console with 12 different storage configurations that offers never-before-seen customization, while other features, such as the exclusive lockable RamBox bedside storage, hidden bins and flat-load floor, offer totally unique solutions for cargo.

Ram Middle East

Exhilarating performance

Significantly, the Ram 1500’s tried and tested 5.7-litre HEMI® V8 doesn’t sound or feel like a V8 until you want it to. With the windows up on the highway, it runs crossover quiet, thanks in part to expanded active noise cancellation and cylinder deactivation.

To control the power, and with 18 percent more pad area, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 features the largest front brake rotors in the segment at 14.9-inches (378 mm). A new electric parking brake replaces the previously foot operated parking brake, eliminating 20 pounds (9 kgs) and working jointly with the truck to identify when to automatically engage.

No compromise ride, handling and maximised fuel efficiency

The 2019 Ram 1500 offers class-leading ride and handling, which is delivered via a unique link-coil rear suspension system and an optional air suspension system that features five height settings for optimum ride and aerodynamic performance. In addition to an enhanced smooth ride, the air suspension also allows the driver – via a separate button on the key fob – to lower the truck, allowing easier passenger entry and reduced tailgate lift-over height.

The air suspension system adds up to 4-inches (102mm) of lift, offering best-in-class step-in height of 21-inches (533.4 mm), best-in-class ground clearance of 10.7-inches (271.78 mm), best-in-class departure angle of 27.8 degrees, and best-in-class breakover angle of 24.2 degrees supported by four-corner air springs that provide a cushioned, premium ride on-road and excellent capability off-road. Another benefit of the new air suspension is load-levelling capability, which automatically detects load on the suspension from a trailer or payload. The air pressure increases until the vehicle reaches normal ride height, levelling the vehicle and improving the loaded ride.

Another all-new feature – Frequency Response Damping (FRD) shocks – deliver the best combination of ride and handling. When the Ram 1500 experiences a slower input, common during cornering and heavy braking, the bypass valve is closed for more aggressive damping, which provides additional stability and poise. When driving normally or exposed to faster shock inputs – which is common on rough roads or at higher speeds – the valve opens to soften the damping, giving the driver more comfort, confidence and control.

For the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, the engineering team has made overall weight reductions totalling nearly 225 pounds (102 kgs) net compared to the previous model and have created the strongest Ram 1500 ever with the most efficient frame in the segment – 100 pounds (45.4 kgs) lighter with 98 percent high-strength steel to improve durability, weight and rigidity for improved handling.

Extensive wind tunnel testing honed the all-new 2019 Ram 1500’s exterior shape, resulting in continued best-in-class aerodynamics, plus exclusive active aerodynamics – grille shutters, air dam and air suspension – that help make the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 the segment’s most aerodynamic vehicle and maximise fuel efficiency. Its .357 coefficient of drag is 9% lower than the previous model and comparable to a regular sedan.

To further maximise fuel efficiency, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 also features Fuel Saver Technology (cylinder deactivation), with the engine’s control computer turning off fuel and spark and closing the intake and exhaust valves on four of the engine’s eight cylinders during light load operation, such as highway cruising when full power is not needed.

The model features over 100 advanced safety and security features, (many as standard, some as available options depending on the model) including Electronic Roll Mitigation, multistage air bags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, ParkSense® Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist and ParkView® Rear back-up camera.

GCC customers also benefit from the Ram brand’s confidence in the quality and durability of its vehicles in the form of a comprehensive 5-year / 100,000 km manufacturer warranty and service package.

The 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport is available to order at all Ram showrooms in the Middle East region.

Ford F-150: The Middle East’s Best 4×4 Full-Size Pickup Truck by Far

Ford F-150 - Arab Motor World

With class-leading power, smart technology and unrivaled capability and safety features, the Ford F-150 is built to take anything the Middle East can throw at it.

The 2018 F-150 is the distillation of more than 100 years of truck development and the refinement of 42 years of F-Series leadership, making it the toughest, smartest and most capable F-150 ever. It’s also the safest, with the inclusion of Ford’s new Co-Pilot 360’s suite of driver assist technologies.

Building on its proven heritage, the F-150 is available with a choice of three engines, three cabin styles, and three bed lengths. It comes with muscular styling, segment-first and class-exclusive driver assist technologies and even more features that allow owners to explore the great outdoors with unwavering confidence. Customer research shows that buyers bank on the F-150’s reputation for power and safety – and it’s in these areas that this Built Ford Tough truck continues to lead.

All-new Co-Pilot 360

Co-Pilot 360 is a package of technologies that help keep drivers, occupants and even pedestrians more protected than ever before. New Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection monitors the F-150’s proximity to other vehicles and pedestrians up front and will alert the driver with visible and audible warnings. In extreme cases, and if the system determines a collision is imminent, active braking may automatically apply full braking.

Blind Spot information system, or BLIS®, uses radar to identify a vehicle entering the blind spot and alerts the driver with an indicator light in the side-view mirror. Its range can be extended to include a conventional trailer once programmed into the system. Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) can warn drivers of traffic approaching from either side when the truck is backing out of a parking space. It uses the same radar sensors as BLIS and automatically engages when the driver selects reverse.

The toughest, most powerful F-150 ever

Based on its proven chassis – the strongest ever developed for the F-150 – and class-exclusive all-aluminium body, the 2018 truck’s standard, all-new 3.3-litre Ti-VCT V6 engine delivers where it matters most, with higher towing capability, more payload capacity and better fuel efficiency than the engine it replaces. The engine comes fitted with a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with standard auto-start/stop technology.

The 3.3-litre engine is joined by an enhanced version of the trusted and proven 5.0-litre Ti-VCT V8. Fed by a new dual-injection system which, when coupled with a higher compression ratio and upgraded main and connecting rod bearings for greater durability, sees the V8 produce an impressive 395 horsepower and 542Nm torque.

The second generation 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine remains the best choice for those who need to balance outright performance with ultimate fuel efficiency. Paired with the 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, engine torque is instantly available for exceptional low-end and peak performance. With class-leading 637Nm torque on hand, the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6-powered F-150 is equipped to handle heavy loads, tow loaded trailers and tackle the region’s toughest terrain. Properly equipped, the truck has a class-topping tow capacity of almost six tonnes.

The FX4 Off Road package is available on XL to Platinum models and is designed to give the F-150 even more capability off road. The package includes a lock rear differential, underbody skid plates that protect the front differential, transfer case and fuel tank, Hill Descent Control and off-road tuned shock absorbers. Drivers can also monitor the action via the truck’s productivity screen.

Convenience, at the press of a button

The F-150 is built to work, and the cargo box is designed to make that easier for owners. The new tailgate features a rugged F-150 stamping on all models from XL to King Ranch, and the tailgate can be locked, unlocked and lowered via the key fob. The class-exclusive tailgate step and support make accessing the cargo box easy, while LED lights illuminate the area efficiently. Owners can also add class-exclusive LED sideview mirror spotlights to help illuminate camp sites at night.

Class-exclusive stowable loading ramps are available to help make loading ATVs, motorcycles and other equipment easy, while Ford’s BoxLink features four removable and lockable premium cleats provide additional tie-down points to help secure loads.

World-class sound quality and connectivity

A new B&O Play Premium Audio System by HARMAN is available, unlocking the power of your favourite music through the tailored tuning and calibration of ten strategically placed speakers around the cabin. Ford’s SYNC 3 system allows hands-free control of calls, music and more, while the eight-inch screen provides bold, clear and precise information. SYNC 3 is also Apple CarPlay compatible, meaning iPhone users can use Siri’s functions to access favourite songs and playlists, and Apple Maps for voice-guided navigation. There are also two smart-charging USB ports to help keep your devices powered up and ready to go, and a power outlet for heavy duty tools and devices in the dash.

Honda Civic

Honda UK has stolen the show by showcasing a Honda Civic Type R Pickup Truck concept, almost a year after the launch of the standard road car.

Built by a specialist team from the Product Engineering department at the Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) factory in Swindon and codenamed ‘Project P’, the Civic Type R Pickup Truck has been modified and developed from the standard road car to create potentially one of the fastest pickup trucks on UK roads.

To create the Project P concept, the team used a pre-production version and adapted the design rearwards from the B-pillars of the car, with sweeping lines from the roofline to the back hiding a flatbed loading area in the centre of the car where the rear seats and boot space would normally be.

Finished in Rallye Red, the concept retains the iconic rear wing associated with both the FK2 and FK8 Civic Type R, which, in a clever piece of engineering, is movable to allow direct and unfettered access to the rear of the truck.

Using the same powertrain, suspension and gearbox as the standard road car, it is estimated Project P will complete the 0-62mph sprint in under six seconds and reach a top speed of over 165mph. It also possesses the same driving modes of comfort, Sport and +R, Project P offering both ride comfort as well as a unique racing capability on track.

Alyn James, project lead, commented: “We have a special projects division at the factory in Swindon and this project was a fantastic opportunity for the team to show just what their creative minds could do. The passion that our engineers have for Honda is shown in our latest creation and we are even considering taking it to the Nurburgring to see if we can take the record for the fastest front wheel drive pickup truck!”

Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, added: “This Civic Type R Pickup Truck concept by the special team at our Swindon-based plant demonstrates the passion and commitment of the team there – going above and beyond outside working hours to deliver the final product. There are no plans to put this in to production but we will be using it to transport our lawn and garden products as and when required!”

A totally unique Mitsubishi L200 has a starring role in the Fast & Furious Live arena tour after Mitsubishi Motors in the UK teamed up with Fast Live Productions and Shane Lynch, the renowned entertainer and racing driver who first found fame with the band Boyzone and who recently finished third in Celebrity Big Brother 2018.

The radical Mitsubishi L200 has been built in the style of the most extreme off-road vehicles to feature in the ground-breaking new arena tour. Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has taken inspiration from the build to create its latest special edition L200 SVP II which shares a similar colour scheme, picked out with orange detailing, and an aggressive stance augmented by wider wheel arches and bespoke orange and silver wheels. As well as wowing audiences of the adrenaline-fuelled show as it tours the UK and Europe, the truck will be used by Mitsubishi Motors for its own shows, exhibition and driving events.

The unique truck strengthens the official partnership between Mitsubishi Motors and Fast & Furious Live, which saw standard Mitsubishi L200 models being used behind-the-scenes by the show’s production and promotion teams.

In keeping with the theme of the Fast & Furious movies and the live show, the Mitsubishi L200 has been radically reworked for maximum visual impact while also incorporating a host of performance enhancements.

To provide clearance for the Modular steel wheels – the rear’s measuring a huge 15×15 inches – and the extended suspension travel, the L200’s double-cab bodyshell is encased by an external roll cage, which wraps around the wheel arches, front bumpers, and custom-fabricated, laser-cut metalwork. Topping it off is two-tone grey and black paint with details picked out in bright orange.

Beneath its much modified skin, the bespoke L200 runs an updated version of the standard 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine. Power has been boosted with the fitment of a hybrid Garrett turbocharger; custom side-exit exhaust and manifold; larger, front-mounted intercooler; and an ECU remap to take advantage of the increased turbocharger size and the freer-flowing, 3D printed air intake and performance air filter.

Inside, it’s fully stripped with only the bare essentials remaining – a pair of Corbeau carbon fibre bucket seats and four-point Luke race harnesses.

The truck is one of three Mitsubishi vehicles that appear in Fast & Furious Live, including a special Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution which fans help create during a unique interactive segment of the show.

“Mitsubishi Motors in the UK and Shane have helped us to bring something very special to our live arena production,” said James Cooke-Priest, CEO, Fast Live Productions. “The truck sits perfectly alongside the incredible vehicles that have captivated viewers of the Fast & Furious franchise and is one for audiences to look out for in our adrenaline-packed production. We’re very grateful for the support of Mitsubishi in the arena and behind the scenes.”

On building the radical Mitsubishi L200, Shane Lynch said: “It’s been amazing to team up with two brands that really appreciate vehicles that are built to perform and also have the imagination to create a truck that’s completely unique. We’ve gone all-out on the build and the result is something which not only looks the part but has the power to match, and starting with the Mitsubishi L200 gave us a tremendous base to work with.”

Toby Marshall, Sales & Marketing Director, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said: “We’re immensely proud to see one of our most popular models have a prominent role in what is a spectacular production and an absolute must for anyone with an interest in high-performance vehicles. We’re looking forward to seeing it in action and it’s another illustration of how the already impressive Mitsubishi L200 lends itself to the most extreme of conversions.”

Following the success of the global premiere at the O2 in London in January and a European tour, Fast & Furious Live now embarks on its return to UK cities in April and May. The show features precision performance driving and newly created physics-defying stunts. Using favourite cars and locations that criss-cross the globe along with key scenes from the film series – created via state-of-the-art 3D projection mapping – fans will be transported straight into this immersive extension of the Fast & Furious movies.

Ford Celebrates 41 Consecutive Years of Truck Leadership As F-150 Continues to Set US Sales Records

Ford has once again fortified its position as America’s truck leader with its F-Series marking 41 consecutive years as the nation’s best-selling pickup, and America’s best-selling vehicle for 36 years.

F-Series sales in 2017 increased 9.3 per cent with 896,764 trucks sold, representing F-Series’ best sales performance since 2005 and its dominance of the pickup market. Ford has now sold more than 27 million F-Series variants since January 1977 which, if lined bumper to bumper, would stretch over 150,000 kilometres and could circle the globe almost four times.

To put 2017 sales figures into some perspective, an F-Series truck was sold every 35 seconds throughout the year – a year in which Ford marked 100 years since the launch of its first purpose built truck, the 1917 Model TT.

Ford’s truck leadership was founded on core values of innovation, durability, dependability and legendary toughness. In 1977, that meant a light duty pickup that featured an improved 351-series V8 engine, standard front disc brakes and the option of an extended SuperCab for the sixth generation F-Series. Fast forward 41 years, and customer expectations, lifestyles, work demands and usage have helped to define the world’s most innovative, technologically advanced, safest and most capable trucks ever produced.

The 2018 Ford F-Series

Debuted in the region at the Dubai International Motor Show in November 2017 and available today in dealerships across the Middle East, the 2018 Ford F-150 is tougher, smarter, and more capable than ever. The new model features a refreshed bolder design with a rich array of new technologies that add on to the already class leading capabilities that the truck boasts.

Three years after introducing a high-strength, military-grade, aluminium-alloy-bodied F-150, the new truck arrives with bold new styling, advanced technologies, a segment-first 10-speed automatic transmission and F-150’s most advanced engine line-up yet.

An enhanced 5.0-litre V8 normally-aspirated engine features significant upgrades for 2018 including advanced dual port and direct-injection technology for more horsepower and additional torque. Spray-on bore liner technology, also featured in the Shelby GT350® Mustang, has been added to squeeze out even more weight from the aluminium block. For the first time, the V8 is paired with the 10-speed SelectShift automatic.

For best-in-class towing, the second-generation 3.5-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 delivers roughly six tonnes of towing capacity thanks to its impressive 578 Nm torque. That level of power beats all diesel- and petrol-powered competitors, including V8 engines with nearly twice its displacement. With dual port and direct-injection technology, the 370-horsepower twin-turbo engine provides ideal low-end and peak engine performance for hauling heavy payloads and towing heavy trailers.

Exclusive to the RST are body-color grille surround, headlamp eyebrow and door handles; gloss-black grille, mirror caps, roof rails, running board accent, window trim and RST badging and illuminated black Chevrolet bowties. Finally, to ensure an imposing stance to complement the design enhancements, the Tahoe sits on exclusive 22-inch wheels.

Other standard features to differentiate the Tahoe RST include a Borla™ performance exhaust system, which not only gives it a more sonorous aural characteristic, it also liberates extra horsepower, thanks to 28 percent improvement in exhaust flow. To reign in the power, the Tahoe RST gets sizable front Brembo six-piston, fixed aluminum calipers finished in red, with brake pads clamping on bigger 410 x 32mm (16.1 inch x 1.3 inch) Duralife™ rotors. The new braking system increases the brake pad area and the rotor area by a substantial 84 percent and 42 percent respectively to boost system thermal capacity. The new Duralife™ rotors feature a hardened surface to reduce corrosion and provide quieter braking with less vibration.

Ahmed Soudodi, Head of Brand at Chevrolet Middle East, said: “The Tahoe is one of the most loved large SUVs in the Middle East and the outstanding response the RST edition received at its regional unveiling during this year’s Dubai International Motor Show cemented this fact. The Tahoe RST was undeniably one of the star attractions on our stand — a clear indication of how much our customers want this vehicle. And now their wishes are being fulfilled as the most powerful Tahoe is officially launched at the 2018 Kuwait motor show.”

He added: “With its street-performance look and increased power, the RST is the most performance oriented Tahoe yet. Its exceptional styling is backed by equally impressive performance, all the while retaining the presence, and capability that make the Tahoe a firm favorite in the large SUV segment.”

Also available for the Tahoe RST is General Motors’ Magnetic Ride Control suspension system, which has been calibrated to make the best out of the street performance on offer.

Plucked straight from Chevrolet’s sports cars, Magnetic Ride Control is an active suspension system that constantly scans the road surface every millisecond and triggers damping changes electronically in as little as 5 milliseconds to give the Tahoe RST’s driver confident handling with minimal body roll and enhanced ride quality.

The 6.2L V-8, which is being offered in the Tahoe for the first time, develops an estimated 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Not only is the engine suitably powerful, it also features state-of-the-art technologies such as direct injection, Active Fuel Management, including cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing. This allows for the optimal use of the engine’s power, torque and efficiency across a variety of operating conditions.

Also exclusive to the Tahoe RST is the all-new 10-speed automatic transmission, which has been fine tuned to deliver great performance, seamless shifts, and better fuel economy. Smaller steps between the gear ratios allows the gearbox to maximize engine power under acceleration, giving the SUV a brisk 0-60 mph (0-96kph) time of under 6 seconds. To enhance fuel economy the transmission features a wide 7.39 overall gear ratio spread and lower numerical top gear ratio – this improves efficiency by reducing engine revolutions at highway speeds.

The first Tahoe RSTs will arrive to Chevrolet showrooms across the Middle East by Q3/Q4 2018.

These trucks benefited from a redesign that took Chevy trucks into a new era of comfort, convenience, and style and were labeled “Advance-Design”.

Chevy’s restyled “Advance-Design” trucks were introduced in 1947, well ahead of its first new postwar cars, and little changed in appearance through 1953. The basic intent was to provide more room and comfort for occupants.

This classic truck, in particular, had a fresh coat of Baby Blue custom paint on its exterior.

The rear end is 10 bolts posi unit taken from Trans Am and the front end comes from a late mustang with dropped spindles.

The truck was lowered to give it a hot rod looks.

On the interior level, it was customized with split bucket seats inspired from the famous Lamborghini Murcielago made from genuine buffalo leather and died with orange color.

The bed has its share of modification too; it was made with red oak Wainscot wood with a glossy finish.

The truck’s mill is a 400 cubic inch V8 Buick engine (6.6 Liter) with Flowmaster mufflers backed by a TH400 transmission producing an estimated 320 hp.
