PIRELLI OPENS P ZERO WORLD IN DUBAI

THE FOURTH TYRE BOUTIQUE AND THIRD CONTINENT FOR THIS UNIQUE SHOP CONCEPT

PIRELLI’S DUBAI FLAGSHIP STORE ALSO HOSTS THE ‘TRACK EXPERT’: A SPECIALIST IN CIRCUIT DRIVING

P Zero World reaches its third continent: after Los Angeles, Munich and Monte-Carlo, the latest flagship store has opened in Dubai. This bespoke symbol of Pirelli’s retail strategy – and its leading position in the market – now makes its mark in a key territory that links the Middle East with the rest of the world. A parade of more than 60 supercars belonging to fans and local collectors celebrated the opening of the new store, having first paraded through the city, while the following day more than 200 cars took to the track at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi for the P Zero Experience: Pirelli’s own brand of track day.

The P Zero World concept has often been summarised as a ‘boutique for tyres’: in other words, a shop where customers can find Pirelli’s most exclusive products alongside services dedicated to the exotic worlds of luxury and sports cars. The P Zero World boutiques are the only places where the entire range of Pirelli tyres is available, such as the P Zero Trofeo R – the road-homologated tyre with the highest performance levels of the entire range – or the Pirelli Collezione for collectors’ cars: designed to combine classic looks with modern performance.

Naturally, the entire range of Pirelli products is available to customers, including motorbike tyres and Velo tyres, as well as Pirelli Design accessories. The exclusive services available to customers of the new P Zero World in Dubai include car valeting and courtesy cars. But not only that: P Zero World allows people to immerse themselves in the world of Pirelli, from the images symbolising the world’s most famous calendar, to the multi-coloured display of F1 tyres.

This underlines Pirelli’s strategy that is focussed on premium and prestige products: an area of the market that shows constant growth, where the Italian firm has been able to gain a solid leadership recognised by both customers and carmakers. In numbers, this means that Pirelli supplies more than half the world’s prestige cars with original equipment. So more than one out of every two supercars leaves the factory on Pirelli tyres, while the Italian firm has also taken 20% of the premium market, confirming its leadership of the entire high value sector.

WHY DUBAI?

Dubai, at the centre of the United Arab Emirates, has been an important commercial and transport hub throughout history, which has always made it one of the most open places to influences and trends from the rest of the world in the Middle East. It’s no coincidence that in 2020 Dubai will host Expo: the world exhibition that will attract 25 million tourists. In Dubai, there’s a huge passion for cars, making it the second-most important car market for the whole of the Gulf, behind only Saudi Arabia. The United Arab Emirates are at the centre of the Middle Eastern car market, a region that expects a yearly growth of 4-5% in luxury cars over the next few years.

Proof of this overriding passion can even be seen in Dubai’s police force, which boasts a supercar fleet that any car collector would be proud of: including a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Bentley Continental GT, McLaren 12C and Audi R8. Some of these police cars took part in the parade of 60 supercars that marked the opening of Dubai’s P Zero World. W Motors, the first Arab hypercar company, is also active in Dubai, with a Pirelli-equipped Fenyr SuperSport a highlight of the opening of P Zero World. The CEO of W Motors, Ralph R. Debbas, was an honoured guest at the opening, representing a visionary and exclusive constructor shaping the future mobility in the region. An Aston Martin Zagato was additionally on display. For the famed Italian coachbuilder, Zagato, Dubai was the start of celebrations to mark its centenary, as P Zero World was opened.

So it’s no surprise that in Dubai – and in the United Arab Emirates in general – this passion for sports cars goes hand in hand with clear and precise choices from motorists. When it comes to tyres, homologations and marked tyres have an important strategic importance in this market, where the tendency from supercar owners is to buy marked tyres whenever a change is needed: in other words, tyres that have been designed specifically for the cars they are fitted to. It’s a choice that is at the heart of a strategy Pirelli calls the ‘Perfect Fit’, where the Italian firm is market leader.

The markings on the tyres signify that they have been specifically made for a particular model of car, with different symbols indicating different constructors. These tyres are born thanks a shared development programme between Pirelli and the carmakers in question that lasts for around 2-3 years and results in tyres that are precisely tailored to the cars they are destined for. This forms a fundamental guarantee for the owners of these cars that they will be able to obtain the maximum in terms of performance and handling, which characterise the fundamental design of the car.

CAFFÈ ITALIANO AND TRACK EXPERT

The P Zero World shop in Dubai is housed in a new 600-metre square building (split between the showroom and workshop) featuring 5 technicians, 2 salespeople and a receptionist. There are four ramps where tyre maintenance can be carried out, using state of the art of machinery. These include the most modern lasers to align wheels, and completely automatic tyre mounting equipment that requires no human intervention and guarantees a perfect job, thanks to technology that ensures no wheel rims are ever damaged.

Furthermore, P Zero World in Dubai is equipped with one of the quickest balancing machines out there that is able to rapidly solve elusive problems, such as vibrations through the steering wheel, that traditional systems cannot identify.

While they wait for work to be carried out, customers can entertain themselves with a life-size Formula 1 simulator and enjoy a real Italian coffee, courtesy of P Zero World, while the technicians look after the car. A ‘Track Expert’ is also at every customer’s disposal, ready to give advice about car set-up and tyre management, as well as specific suggestions when it comes to track driving.

Gaetano Trezza, Pirelli’s Head of Trade & Operative Marketing, said: “Pirelli’s retail strategy is focussed on points of sale activation, in collaboration with partners who are already active on site.

This is certainly the case in Dubai with our distributor Al Hawai, which has worked exclusively with Pirelli for 32 years. Consequently we can rely on a loyal customer base, but above all on the reliability and skill of companies with a passion for our job. P Zero World is the jewel in the crown of this strategy, where clients can discover our brand, exclusive products, and services at the highest level in a unique context. Furthermore, customers get the chance to find out more about our partner brands, which helps us to create an atmosphere that sets P Zero World apart from any other tyre facility. Next up is the opening of P Zero World in Melbourne, Australia.”

Telematics in Fleet Management

Real-time communication, driver’s monitored behavior, reduction of accidents and damages to vehicles and freight, reduction of operating costs, fuel savings, safety improvements and vehicle performance optimization, are just a few terms being used in telematics for fleet management. Nowadays, in the world of mobile technology, it is of great importance to be in line with latest technologies to ensure high quality products and services. Telematics device manufacturers, navigation and digital map developers, smart sensors and HW manufacturers, M2M providers, OEMs, telematics solution providers, logistics and transport companies, and other participants of telematics fleet management industry, must offer latest technologies in order to make improvements in driver efficiency and fleet performance.

So, how do telematics solutions work in practice? Today’s connected trucks ensure fleet managers to control the use of vehicles and observe driver’s behavior. By using cab-mounted tablets, fleet managers can warn drivers about heavy traffics, thus avoiding time and money related costs.

Good routing apps for example, can help saving the driving time which leads to fuel savings and amplifies overall fleet utilization. The use of vehicle sensors is also of great importance, as they warn of engine and other diagnostic issues. Overall monitoring of vehicle diagnostics and contacting repair centers enable drivers and fleet managers to plan further activities.

So, what are advanced telematics technologies in fleet management? Which products and services will help reduce operating costs, but improve driver’s wellness and satisfy customers? What is the future of telematics in fleet management?

International Conference and Exhibition

Above mentioned questions will be discussed at the 5th edition of Telematics Conference Middle East & Africa which will be held on 28 March 2019 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The annual conference and exhibition, focusing on telematics for fleet management will host approximately 150 delegates, namely, telematics solution providers, telematics device manufacturers, navigation and digital map developers, smart sensors and HW manufacturers, IoT experts, M2M providers, OEMs, market research specialists, logistics and transport companies, and startup companies starting business in the field of telematics. The main topic of this edition will be on “Advanced Telematics in Fleet Management”. The conference program will be enriched by globally and regionally recognized speakers and many network possibilities. Latest products and services from telematics in fleet management will be presented at the exhibition with 15 exhibition booths, all being part of the event.

Al Masaood Automobiles bags a hat-trick of principle awards for its outstanding performances

Al Masaood Automobiles - Arab Motor World

In a competitive market as the automotive retail, winning customers for authorized dealers are defined by the value they add to the market. This is how Al Masaood Automobiles continue to ace the race reaping outstanding sales performances in all its global car brands. The authorized distributor in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region for Nissan, Infiniti, and Renault had received triple regional awards earlier this year which indicate the effectiveness of its business strategies.

It won the ‘Best Sales Performance’ award from Renault in April for achieving the highest sales growth in 2017, the ‘Exemplary Performance in Sales and Customer Experience in FY17’ from Nissan in May for increasing its market share and showcasing impressive standards in car care and customer service across the region, and ‘The Highest Growth Across I/MEA Market’ from Infiniti in June.

Al Masaood Automobiles noted that its successes were built on strategies that create an efficient and effective integrated business environment and develop highly skilled and productive work force. These efforts play a significant role in achieving Abu Dhabi’s goals to further strengthen its non-oil economic activities under Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

Irfan Tansel, CEO of Al Masaood Automobiles, said: “There is much to celebrate for Al Masaood Automobiles this year as we drove home with these major awards, which is testament to our dedication and constant effort to deliver world-class services and outperform market expectations. We attribute this success to the company’s consistency in exceeding customers’ expectations, delivering excellence and quality in our services, and always innovating on sales and aftersales service offerings, which have won the trust of our customers.”

The winning formula

Results did not happen overnight, rather an outcome of the company’s established trustworthiness amongst customers across multiple business segments. Al Masaood Automobiles is known for its excellence in services and high rate of customer satisfaction, noting the value of investments in innovative after-sale services and strong profile of trained staff and sales professionals. Innovative strategies involve providing services that meet customers’ needs, coupled with smart hiring practices.

“Car brands carry with them their own features that makes them attractive to certain owners and that is a given. However, when it comes to servicing and ease of maintenance, many car owners need all the help they can get, and they are happier with a reliable partner that not only meet their needs, but also look after their convenience. We are confident that we have been giving our buyers the experience they look for in a brand,” added Tansel.

As an automotive dealer, Al Masaood Automobiles adopts an agile customer-centric strategy and we pay extra attention to building long-lasting partnerships with our customers that goes beyond a car purchase. Al Masaood now proudly has a world-class network of state-of-the-art service centers and extensive spare parts dealers. The Nissan Service Centre located in Abu Dhabi is the largest service centre in the world.

Al Masaood Automobiles is backed up with a vision to grow despite any changing market conditions.  It vouches to never cut back on investments in human capital, technology and research.

A direct subsidiary of one of Abu Dhabi’s leading conglomerate companies, Al Masaood Group, which have been an integral player in the commercial development of Abu Dhabi in nearly five decades, Al Masaood Automobiles sees the future of car dealership to be more fluid and personal as buyers have increased their focus on satisfaction experience – something that it already has been giving to its loyal customers.

XENA STANGINI – The Name says it all

The sight of a lady driving a Supercar is not unique anymore as we see several women driving those fast cars on the streets of our nation, however seeing a woman driving a pink Supercar and a customized Muscle Car and does drifting for the fun of it that is something worth talking about.

And if you think this is it for Heba, this is where you are wrong, I mean this woman even surprised Arab Motor World Staff, who thought they saw everything, until hearing how much Heba is knowledgeable about aftermarket and tuning even more than most of the guys we’ve met.

Here’s XENA STANGINI up close and personal.

Who is Xena Stangini ?

Xena_stangini is my Instagram name. It is a combo name representing my both cars; the Mustang and the Lamborghini.

I have set up this Instagram account for my cars builds and have photos of my cars and the aftermarket parts more than I have of myself. My family knows by now that all gifts are accepted in car parts only; no cash, gold, diamonds or roses.

My real name is Heba from Cairo-Egypt Residing in Dubai, I am a Senior Business Consultant working in a large international company. Outside my corporate life, I am a certified scuba diver, I play tennis, love to spend my weekends drifting and driving, and everything related to the automotive world.

I have just been awarded the Best Car for 2018 & Readers’ Choice Award from Wheels magazine, in a ceremony attended by top automakers. I am proud to be the first female to win this award.

How did your passion for automotive started and when?

It started at an early age when I was 14 years old, my father started teaching me how to drive his manual gearbox car. I was influenced by his deep passion for cars, I have seen him treat cars as if they were human. He tackles speed bumps with care, drives an extra mile to ensure he’s parked in the shade, gives them regular check-ups — and now this is all in my blood.

Once I have become of age, I owned an Opel Astra as my first car.

We’ve read on your profile that one time you were bored so you hit the track, what can you tell us about this out of this world time-killing mechanism?

I always say driving is therapy, and when I am bored or stressed out, I love to drive sideways i.e drift. I have been for years seriously thinking about getting certified as a professional drifter but this endeavor requires a lot of dedication, practice in the field, and commitment, which I cannot afford due to my personal and professional obligations. So, I am keeping it as a hobby for now, however building my own drift car will remain a dream I will pursue sooner or later. I may turn my Mustang into a drift car, or I will buy a tuner car and work on my project from there.

You own several vehicles yourself, which one is the dearest to your heart?

I own a Lamborghini Gallardo V10 5.2L Lp550-2 2013, Mustang 3.7L V6, 2015, and I have just sold my BMW 3 series. All my cars are drop-top (convertibles).

The Mustang and Gallardo are both equally dear to me. However, the Gallardo has been my daily drive since I am actually still overwhelmed with the power and beauty of this machine.

Your Mustang is upgraded and has a pinkish color, what’s up with that?

Well, the very first modification that I had done even before I  took delivery of the car — was a Roush exhaust. I wanted a deep roaring sound so i had the system installed at the dealer. Afterward, I had the car lowered by 1.5 in, added 25mm wheel spacers and upgraded the suspension which significantly improved the car’s cornering and handling. I have also installed an Anderson Composites carbon fiber bonnet, APR wing and performance splitter to help shed some weight and I must say the CDC Outlaw body kit — which includes a front spoiler, side skirts and a rear spoiler — looks great on the car, to top it up I have installed vertical doors too. It also had a full custom exterior and interior light upgrade; DRLs, Demon and Angel Eyes, fogs, and sequential indicators and I had them programmed to sync together to my liking.

As for the color, it was originally Competition Orange but I wanted the car to stand out more and with an unusual, daring color combination. So I did my research and shortlisted the colors I wanted and had samples sent to me. Then, finally, I chose the customized ZTS hyper-shift dip and got the necessary paperwork done for approvals and had the car registration changed too.

In addition, I’ve already added a JLT cold air intake with SCTx4 custom tuning which increased significantly my horsepower which is now 325bhp on dyno, and most importantly I can feel the difference whenever I floor the throttle. In fact, I have started thinking about a major engine boost such as installing a Procharger to give the 3.7-litre V6 that extra push and also long tube headers and an off-road H-pipe which will create more power and torque, however, it will take some time to get the necessary approvals as I like to keep it all legal.

I am also going widebody, I bought the fender flares, and now making my choice about my new tires and wheels.

What about that pink Lamborghini, why pink is it a statement to say this a lady’s supercar?

I like fiery controversial colors, they do reflect my personality. My Lamborghini was originally finished in a dark blue (Blu Fontus) paint with a beige interior but I do not leave my cars in stock condition and since I do not like dark colors either I was always going to spruce it up. After I got all the relevant approvals from the traffic authorities, I had it wrapped in Super Chrome Hot Pink and brushed Fuchsia.

The interior has also been trimmed with pure Chrome Fuchsia. I then had the wheels painted black (with the brake calipers painted gold to match the Lambo logo) and then had the taillights tinted and got myself a customized key too! The transformation took about two weeks.

I plan to boost the output and change the exhaust but these modifications are pricey and I need time to save up. In the immediate future, I’ll be getting a rear spoiler to give it an even sportier and aggressive look.

You ride with so many car clubs, how do guys perceive the idea of a woman riding alongside and sometimes racing in the arena against them?

I do hope the day would come where we do not hear clichés like “Oh! a girl driving a modified muscle car!”, and gets worse at the track where guys gasp when they find it out there is a girl drifter.

What message are you sending to our community by being a woman in a man’s world?

Honestly, the automotive industry is male-dominated, but I am not in it to prove anything to anyone. I am just being me, I do what I love doing and in competition with my own self only. I have been witnessing a considerable amount of resistance and doubt but equally gained respect by others. I let my actions speak for me.

On another note, I am glad that I am receiving good response from the car community, and my efforts are recognized, I have been interviewed and featured in a couple of respectable well-established automotive publications, and my cars have been reposted on social media on popular pages. My family and close friends support me all the way. I will continue with the thrill of customizing my cars. I have loved researching all of the aftermarket parts, contacting the dealers, tracking the shipment of each part and nagging the courier 100 times about the delivery date and time. I have dedicated a huge space in my house for all the car parts and took photos of all the boxes and unwrap them one by one and read all the enclosed pamphlets and installation instructions to gain more knowledge about each part. My next project is building my own drift car.

Anything you would like to add

At the end I would like to add one more thing, I am really proud of being part of the She Challenges Section at Arab Motor World Platform and appreciate all the support and attention the guys at Arab Motor World provided me with to help spread the change that the Automotive World should not be gender oriented.

“I am walking my own path and will continue to march on.” – said Heba

1993 Ferrari 512TR, The Red Head

Make : Ferrari
Model : 512 TR
Year : 1993

Owner : Nostalgia Classic Cars
Country : United Arab Emirates

Ferrari have always been the main player in the Super Car Market. The Italian manufacturer will never settle for 2nd place when it comes to super-fast and super luxury vehicles. In 1990, Lamborghini, the Italian bull, introduced the new Lamborghini Diablo, an evolution in the world of Super Cars. The Stallion reacted with a completely new vehicle considered to be the masterpiece of the 90’s Super Cars era, the Ferrari 512 TR.

The 512 TR was introduced at the 1992 Los Angeles Auto Show and was an evolution of the Testarossa. The 512TR was a whole new car, with a bigger engine, a new air intake system, an updated gearbox, four-wheel independent suspension with unequal length wishbones, coil springs, anti-roll bars, four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, and a Bosch management system. The interior was upgraded as well to reflect more comfort and control for the driver’s cockpit, and the exterior was to die for.

What’s more significant is actually the name of this chef-d’oeuvre “512 TR”, which stands for 5-Liter engine capacity with a V12-Cylinder capable of producing 430 HP @ 6750 RPM and 490 Nm @ 5500 RPM reaching a top speed of 306 Km/h and an acceleration of 4.9 sec from 0-100 Km/h.

As for the TR, it is after all a Testarossa. The Testarossa name paid homage to the famous World Sports Car Champion, 1957 Ferrari 250 Testarossa sports racing car. Testarossa, which literally means “red head” in Italian, refers to the red-painted cam covers for the 12-cylinder engines.

Finally, the Ferrari’s 512 TR has proven to be an icon of the early 1990s, with distinct roots in the 50’s and 60’s Testarossa. However, its upgrades set it apart from its predecessor. The Ferrari 512 TR and M are considered to be the last normal production of the Ferrari flat-twelve mid-engine.

First launched in 1966, the Dodge Charger was an instant hit. With the rise of the Muscle Cars’ Era, Dodge ventured into creating a muscle car based on the Coronet and staffed it with rich interior and plenty of power. Mopar fans rushed with enthusiasm to purchase the new Charger.

The second generation produced from 1968 – 1970 was an even greater success. Dodge with a radical departure from the 1966 Charger created the 1968 full-sized sports car ready to tear the tarmac.

In 1969, the Charger still used the same body as the previous year, but the 1969 version received a divided grille and new taillights.

The Charger’s wheelbase remained at 117 inches; its overall length was 208 inches, its width was 76.6 inches, and its height was 53.2 inches.

The base Chargers had the 225-cid slant-six and the 318-cid V-8 as standard engines. The Charger R/T had the 440-cid V-8 as its standard engine. In addition to the Charger SE, which was a mix of sport and luxury, it had all of the standard Charger features plus leather and vinyl bucket seats, simulated woodgrain steering wheel, deep-dish wheel covers, hood-mounted turn signal indicators, simulated woodgrain instrument panel, and the light group option.
