The transportation sector in the United Arab Emirates is set to radically transform in the next few years as digitisation and new business models are revolutionising the automotive sector and is giving rise to numerous disruptive technology-driven trends including green mobility, smart connectivity and autonomous driving.
How artificial intelligence will transform and revolutionise the transport sector will be the key focus at the 4th instalment of the International Conference on Future Mobility.
The conference is organised by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), in co-operation with Messe Frankfurt Middle East. The event will this year be held on 7th and 8th of November at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort Hotel, Abu Dhabi in partnership with the Department of Transport – Abu Dhabi (DoT) and in co-operation with numerous strategic partners from the federal and local government.

He also said that “disruptive technologies in the automotive sector such as autonomous driving and artificial intelligence have the potential to completely transform mobility, and we at ESMA understand that true potential of these technologies cannot be fully realised until the regulations are in place. Gaining practical experience with these new systems, will allow our government to keep pace with these technological advancements. We are working closely with manufacturers and other regulators around the world and we are closely following the developments in the sector and it is our constant endeavor to establish a regulatory and standards framework consistent with the global frameworks.”

In our efforts to increase public awareness and to support national organisations, this year, we are launching numerous exciting and important initiatives at the conference such as the ‘Made in UAE Pavilion’, showcasing innovations in smart and sustainable mobility homegrown in the UAE, and the ‘Government Pavilion’, showcasing initiatives undertaken by various government authorities in the UAE in furthering the cause of eco-friendly, connected and intelligent mobility. Recognising and celebrating research undertaken by Universities across the region in sustainable mobility, development of supporting infrastructure and digital innovation in mobility we are also delighted to launch the Emirates International Future Mobility Awards at the conference this year,” Al Maeeni said.
